"Yeah, I can only speak one language..... well, more like one and one tenth of a language."
"But yeah, I can only change into stuff I've been around long enough. And the less time I've been around something, the exponentially less time I can change into it."
"What can you do?"

what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone else"Well, that makes sense. Familiarity would help with something like that."
"And uh... something with rocks."

Dahlia could go back up to her room and see if there was anyone else around, but she really didn't like sitting around all day.
Maybe the maps had something interesting.
Dahlia picked up one of the maps and took some time to examine it.
Seemed like standard stuff for the most part, aside from the obviously magical areas of study. There were a lot of liberal arts buildings on campus, and as far as she could tell, there were only two buildings for STEM related stuff, whereas some of the other places she visited had buildings dedicated to specific sub-fields. No law school either, though she still didn't know how many countries, and thus how many differing legal traditions, existed on Gaia.
She also found it odd that business and history studies were lumped together in the same building.
The Athena Temple also struck her as odd. The most obvious thing that came to mind was that Greek goddess who was supposed to be Odysseus's patron or something, but why on earth would this other world have the same deities as those on Earth? She'd have to look into that sometime later.
After examining the map, Dahlia took a brief moment to examine the mansion around her. Apparently, there were two kitchen areas, even though whatever facilities there were could easily be centralized into one location.
She'd probably have to eat soon - maybe - but she could probably hold it off for a bit.
Dahlia went back to the room she now resided in, briefly taking note of whatever Aqua was doing (assuming she was still there). She also looked around to see who else was in the nearby vicinity.
"Like, you can make rocks or you can control rocks?"
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone else"Well... I think it's the latter?"
"I dunno, I've only been able to do it once and I haven't been able to replicate it since..."

Laura hesitated, thinking about what Vicki said about needing her sleep.
"Are you an early bird or something?"
"Well, I suppose that's why you're here, isn't it?"
"Uh, anyway, I'm gonna go get some food, you wanna come along?"
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone else"That is true..."
"And sure, yeah."

I was too excited to sleep much last night, and the nap I took on the bench at the bus stop hardly counts." She chuckles, and pauses a moment. It was OK to tell Laura; they were roommates, and she'd have to have some kind of interesting ability herself, right?
"And it's... well, the reason I was invited to attend this school is because I have psychic dreams. So sleep is pretty important to me."
Stupid doomed timeline..."Well, that doesn't seem so bad. Sounds like It could be fun even. I'm here because, well, when I'm happy, i can make like these magical firework things." Laura said casually. Well, it was true. She had come here to learn how to control it, after all. It.. wasn't always that bad, but getting them under full control would be nice.
Kevin makes his way down the stairs and into the dining hall.
"Wow, this place is really something; it's like the Palace of Versailles. How old is this building I wonder?"
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone else"I dunno... I'm... guessing Versailles is some old place, though?"

Not that you know where that is, but about 300 years ago, the king of France got so wealthy that he built a gigantic palace for himself and it had a ton of fancy decorations."
"I've never been there, but I've seen pictures, and it's really cool."
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone else"Wow... That... does sound cool, yeah."

"Really?" Vicki smiles. "That sounds pretty neat. How big of fireworks are you talking about here?"
She pauses, then adds "I'm hoping to get better control of mine too, to focus on things that are more relevant to me. Like things I need to watch out for in the future, or glimpses at my family back home. Right now it's mostly... glimpses into stranger's lives, or watching a classmate get mustard on his shirt at lunch. But sometimes I see something more interesting if I'm especially curious about it."
Stupid doomed timeline..."W-well, I did make a really huge one once, but I'm kinda hoping I won't have to replicate it any time soon..."
"Oh, yea, that sounds useful. Not sure what I'd do for mine. I'd probably be fun at parties, I guess. Anyways, I think I'm going to head down and find out about food. Are you just staying up here?."

Vicki shook her head. "Actually, I should probably find something to eat too. Haven't eaten since before I left the house, and that feels like forever ago." She stood up, then turned to smooth out the spot she'd been sitting on. "You don't mind if I join you, I hope?"
Stupid doomed timeline...Thistle shook his head, sighing. His tail twitched again- it was more or less one of the best indicators of how he was feeling at a given moment unless you could read lizardfolk facial expressions.
"Look, I... I don't even know. Apparently I can cast magic without spells or whatever, but instead of casting stuff it just happens? And I know a bit of nature magic- how to make a blade sharper and how to merge wood, but those require me to say incantations in my native tongue, and my mother told me that nature magic is by nature- ha- chaotic." He shrugged, evidently tired of this kind of thing. "This is all new to me."
Wooze looks at Glass with a 'please take her away' look"Oh, sure." she said.
When they were ready, Laura grabbed her phone and made her way down to the dining hall.
Jacob would eye the paper, nodding at the 'orientation'.
Truly, he had traveled to an alternate dimension just to hear some old senile grand poobah ramble about how powers should be used responsibly, and not be flaunted to the point where one would use their teleportation for eavesdropping, and instant vacations, along with other shenanigans.
However, until then, he might want to take a look around, get a map, maybe collect some reading material with photographs of other dimensions in them.....
Yes, even being limited by his parents and this institution would not stop him from hedonism.
At least, not entirely.
"Yeah! It is! So, how's it feel to finally be here?" He sighs, relaxing on his own bed.
"I've been really looking forward to this myself."
Long live the New Bev.Vicki wasn't too far behind, once she made sure she had her keys and anything else she might need.
Stupid doomed timeline...As Dahlia walks back to her room, she may spot Galva and Tasar chatting in the hallway, as well as a few other students walking to and fro.
Back in her room, it seems Aqua has acquired a visitor - a girl with mint green hair done up in twin ponytails.
"Oh, hey Dahlia!" Aqua says as she comes in. "This is my sister, Natalia. She was just stopping by for a bit to welcome me here, I guess."
"A pleasure to meet you," says Natalia, waving hello to Dahlia.
The dining hall seems to now be open for business, as the many tables are adorned with all sorts of food in silver platters.
The dining hall is serving foods from all sorts of backgrounds - burgers, roast beef, enchiladas, curry, fried lizard on a stick.... If you can think about it, it is probably there.
As well, the dining hall is full with all sorts of students - not as packed as the entrance hall was before, but still there are a sizable amount of students there, some of which the people entering might recognize having met before.
Sunglasses dude's raised sword hand doesn't waver, but he remains silent for a few seconds.
"Gods," he realizes, lowering his sword, "you really don't know what you're talking about. And yet, something about you still stinks. The Chaos has touched you, I know it."
In a flash of light, the dude's swords disappear. "I'll leave you alone for now," he promises, "but I'll be keeping an eye on you."
Without another word, explanation, or even an apology, sunglassess dude turns around and starts to walk away. Ironically, or perhaps deliberately, the back of his jacket is emblazoned with an image of an eye, decorated in all sorts of regal designs.
