"Yeah, got it." Sun grabs the coffee and scone. He stops to eat them. Luckily the bus stop was pretty close by, so he wouldn't be late. Probably. Though.. Man, it'd really suck if he missed the bus despite that. Then he might miss the city taking off, and not go to that school, and end up just sponging off of Mira for the rest of his life because it's not really like he can do anything else. ..Yeah. He should stop futzing around and go. With one last goodbye to Mira, Sun heads out the door and to the bus stop.

Great, now I've gotta spend more effort getting the bags. Who's gonna be in a coma by the end of the day? You are, yes you are..talking to yourself again, Jacob. More importantly, there's a guy. Asking questions. But, he's not a cop, should be pretty easy to fool.

"Who, me? Just a guy. Who, just entered the station. Through some steps." Jacob would say, as he began putting clothes back into his bag.

Hey, at least there's no chicks around to see your clothes strewn all around-

Quiet, you.

"Yep, those stairs!" Jacob would say, pointing to the furthest set of stairs from him.

"Anyway, I'm looking for platform...four and one-fifth. Yes, it's a practical joke." He'd say, eying one of the bags...

"Platform..4. Well, nice to meet you, have a great day, and if you happen to see a third bag magically materialize, it's okay, people hallucinate all the time in train stations." Jacob'd finish, clapping his hands once.

Then, he'd begin walking towards Platform 4, envisioning the third bag in his mind, after filling up his first bag, of course.

"Uh, no worries. I will! And I didn't." he says as he exits the car.

"Talk to you both later. Love you!"

He gets out and starts heading for the train station, not noticing Tian, Rzek, or the former's moms yet.

Vicki continued people-watching as she waited. She wondered if perhaps her dream had nothing to do with this trip, maybe it was just some church group or reunion or something. This certainly wouldn't be out of place for her, but she had a feeling this one was going to be relevant.

Besides that, people-watching was fun. Especially when it involved people she'd likely get to know better in the near future.

Laura was about to respond as the bus pulled in. "Th-there it is!" she said. She hastily grabbed her bags, and said her farewells to her parents. She gave them both a quick hug before running over and onto the bus. There was no time for getting sentimental today.

She loaded most of her stuff onto the bus, save for her personal bag. She looked around as she got on the bus, trying to spot out anyone else from the academy, and trying to keep her mind focused. She eventually takes a seat, and, once situated, takes out her phone to check for any mail or other messages.

Thistle tried to ignore the unease of the monsters around him. He had gotten used to it by now, after all. Right now, he could deal with hushed whispers and people glancing at him when they thought he wasn't looking. Right now, finding a seat was more important, since there didn't seem to be any. At least, there weren't any that he could sit in without breaking either him or the chair.

Underneath one such seat, a creature watched with interest. There was something about the lizardfolk that had just entered the train. Arrakas had been hiding in such an undignified position for a while, now, and there was something about the monster that urged the Daemon to help him. But getting over to him without getting stomped on would be.... challenging.

Perhaps biting the fool who had kicked him hadn't been such a good idea.

Come over here! The snake called. His hiss was drowned out among the crowd, but Thistle heard him loud and clear- which worried the lizardfolk. Looking down, he spotted a pair of glowing red eyes observing him.

"What...?" He began, but stopped. There was something under a seat. That was talking to him.

The elf on the seat in question gave him a questioning glance, apparently wondering why the huge lizard-person was staring at him. That glance changed to a startled expression of pain as something bit his leg, and he jumped up with a curse. That curse was followed by a stream of other naughty words as the elf in question realized that there was quite a lot of blood dripping down his leg.

Not enough to be too dangerous, of course. Arrakas detested killing. It wasn't fun.

"Come, sit. We have much to discuss, shadowfriend." Thistle gulped, looked around, and walked over and sat down in the seat. It was still cramped, but it was better then nothing. He got an angry glare from the elf in return as he tried to staunch the bleeding pinpricks in his leg, but no one else seemed willing to stand up to Thistle- especially since there didn't seem to be any correlation to what had just happened and the lizardfolk himself.

The creature under the seat let out a cruel, raspy laugh. Slithering up the side of the seat, the black creature draped itself around Thistle's neck. The lizardfolk stiffened, but didn't try to throw it off.

"I foresee a wonderful partnership," Arrakas hissed, flaring his wings slightly. "A shadowfriend and his familiar. Let's make a deal, you and I. You protect me, and I help you."

Thistle stared at the winged snake on his shoulder. The snake's wings were dark red and batlike, and somewhere in a corner of his mind he registered that he should be screaming, but there was something... comforting about the creature. It felt like they were akin, somehow.

Ignoring the even more strange looks that they were getting, the creature continued. "After all, what sorcerer lacks a familiar? Especially one as powerful as you," he crooned. "After all, you can understand me, can you not? That isn't a common ability."

"I'm not that powerful," Thistle argued. "And what do you mean "sorcerer?" I just know I can use magic and I got invited to this crazy academy." The snake laughed. "Humble as well. But I digress- you are a sorcerer, a creature with innate magical power. Stick with me, and you'll learn so much more, my little friend."

The snake paused. "My... very, very large friend. But let us not complicate our mutual beneficial relationship with such adjectives and semantics, shall we?"

As Jacob leaves for platform four, another stranger approaches the wall between platforms four and five.

A young man with glasses and a striped hoodie walks towards the three strangers, carrying a very large bag, a significantly smaller bag, and a backpack. He seems to ignore the two lost sorcerers standing around (as well as the other one scrambling to get his bag), jamming out to some unheard music on his earbuds. Everywhere he steps, a footprint made of frost is left behind.

However, once he gets to the wall, he looks around to make sure no one is watching - and that is when he notices the other sorcerers.

“Uh… What are you guys standing around here for?”

“Yeah, yeah, me too, I just need your help with one small thing,” says the voice from the lake.

As Tasar looks down, he’ll see the source of the voice to be a shirtless young man with blue skin and glowing eyes - a merman, by the looks of it. The boy carries a huge bag in both arms.

“Can you just help me lift this over the edge, and leave it somewhere where it won’t fall in? Usually my, uh, friend is here to help me with this, but I guess his train is running late today. Well, that, or my portal came early.”

The boy smiles at Tasar apologetically, revealing several rows of razor-sharp teeth.

“Hey you nitwit, do you even know where you’re going?” Scylla calls out to Galva, but too late, as he’s already leaving with his bags in tow.

Fortunately, someone is standing near the clock tower handing out campus maps. After gazing over one for a bit, Galva heads towards the enormous mansion across the street from the clock tower. Circling around to the front entrance, he heads inside and into the dining hall.

Unfortunately for him, it seems they aren’t serving friend lizard on a stick today, or anything at all. All the tables are empty of platters, though the dining hall is still filled with all manner of magical strangers, intermingling with each other and seeming to pay no attention to Galva.

That is, until someone behind him calls his attention.

“Hey, you. You look lost. New here?”

“Jeez, alright,” says the driver, turning back to the steering wheel and starting to pull out of the driveway. “Please remember to put on your seatbelt and keep your arms, legs, and other appendages inside the vehicle at all times.”

He starts to head down the road, looking around for passersby. Dahlia’s street seems to be entirely empty, which he seems to take as a good sign.

“All right, here we go….” the car starts to speed up quickly, zooming through the neighborhood at probably not legal speeds. Then, without warning, the vehicle tilts upwards, flying up into the air. The driver lets out a small “Woohoo!” and floors the gas pedal as the car takes off into the sky, leaving Dahlia’s house far, far behind.

The car passes through several cloud covers before finally slowing down, and shortly after stops rising, instead drifting evenly through the sky.

“Yup, looks like the city isn’t here yet,” the driver grumbles. “It should be arriving soon, though. We’ll just circle around until it gets here.”

“Anything you wanna do until then, though? I can do tricks. We can freak out some of the normies. Get some burgers or something.”

Sun makes it to the bus stop just in time, the last passenger climbing in right before him.

“Alright, hope that’s everyone,” says the bus driver after he’s settled in. “Hold on tight folks, this is gonna be a close one.”

The driver closes the doors swiftly, then starts heading down the road at a brisk pace. It isn’t long before they start nearing the bridges, where traffic is stopped dead due to the onslaught of vehicles trying to get into the City.

“Godsdammit,” sighs the driver. “I didn’t want to have to do this…. Okay folks, I need you to promise me this doesn’t leave this bus, as it’s not technically legal. Here we go…”

The driver slams her fist on a big red button to her left, and all of a sudden, the bus is covered in brilliant, glowing runes - well, the runes were probably there already, but they definitely weren’t glowing.

The driver slams her foot on the gas, and then something strange happens. The bus seems to shift, growing unnaturally thin to squeeze between the lines of traffic. The bus continuously shifts and changes, its speed never ceasing as it heads towards the river. Somehow, despite the bus itself compacting together, there still seems to be enough room on the inside for everyone, though just barely.

Soon, the bus makes it to the edge of the bridge, which crossing guards have now closed off due to the drawbridge now being lifted, closing off the Universal City from the rest of the world. Not letting this deter her, the bus driver floors the gas petal, as the bus flattens itself low to the ground to fit beneath the red tape and zooms up the still rising drawbridge.

Several of the passengers are screaming as the bus, now normally shaped, flies briefly through the air before crashing down on the other side. The bus continues to speed down the street, now mostly undeterred and within the city limits.

“Whew, that was fun,” says the driver. “Everyone okay back there?”

Most of the passengers respond with dazed grumbles and not much else.

To anyone looking out and up, various large runes seem to be appearing in the atmosphere around the Universal City.

Daniel’s mom embraces him in a warm hug before he leaves, then both his parents wave goodbye as he heads into the station. “Goodbye!” his mom calls out. “We love you!”

Not too far away, another family of monsters is saying their goodbyes as well.

“It was our pleasure, Sweetie,” says Orc Mom, giving both the goblin kids a big orc hug. “Don’t forget to call your mom and tell her you made it safely, okay?”

Goblin Mom gives them each a hug, and kisses Tian’s forehead. “Call us if you need anything, okay? We’ll get it to you somehow.”

With that, Tian’s moms wave goodbye as he and Rzek head into the station.

It’s not hard for the three young monsters to find their platform, and soon make it to the place where Thistle had stumbled in earlier. Near the train, a bored-looking troll sits in a booth, taking the tickets of the last few passengers.

“Last call for the Universal City!” calls out a spectral image in a train conductor’s uniform. “Last call for the Universal City!”

Laura would find a couple messages from her old high school friends, but nothing of too much importance.

“Are we sure that’s everyone?” asks the bus driver as Vicki climbs in after Laura. “We usually get a few more people than that….”

Just then, almost as if on cue, a car speeds down the road, coming to the grinding stop behind the bus.

“Hurry up hurry up, we’re gonna be late!!!” shouts a dark-skinned girl with very messy curly hair, climbing quickly out of the car and popping open the trunk to pull out her bags.

“Calm down man, the bus is still here,” says a boy with dark hair and a green hoodie, climbing out after her and grabbing his own bags, if albeit more calmly.

“Yeah yeah whatever,” says the girl, as a second girl climbs out from the other side. “Bye Mom, love you!!” she says to an unseen woman inside the car before bolting into the bus with her bags.

“This is the right bus, right?” she asks the driver. “Blue Skies Academy?”

The driver nods, and the girl breathes a sigh of relief, setting her bags down on one of the seats and sitting down next to them. Her two friends follow shortly after.

Vicki should recognize these kids as the ones from her dream.

“Alright, is that everyone, then?” asks the bus driver. After making sure no other cars come speeding down the street, he closes the doors and starts the bus.

“Okay, kids. Please make sure to put on your seatbelts and keep your arms, legs, and other appendages inside the vehicle at all times.” With that, the bus moves forward, headed slowly down the street.

“Alright, just gonna take us down an empty street first so we don’t freak out any muggles,” the driver says. “How’s everyone doing on this fine day?”

“Pretty great!” the unknown girl exclaims, to which her friends roll their eyes.

The bus driver turns down an empty road, and starts pushing further on the gas. “Alright, here we go. Hold on tight!” The bus increases further in velocity as it goes down the street, until just when it’s about to reach the end of the road, the bus lurches upward, taking to the sky.

“Woohooooo!!” shout a few of the strangers as the bus passes through several cloud covers, before finally slowing down several thousand feet above the ground.

“Alright, looks like the city ain’t here yet,” says the driver, “though it looks like we’re not the only ones waiting.” Shrugging, the bus driver starts to circle around, following the lead of the other vehicles.

Hushed gasps are heard from the train’s passengers as the creature beneath the seat reveals itself, draping itself over the dark magician’s shoulders. The monsters sitting to either side of Thistle scoot away slowly, giving him a wide berth.

The hushed whispers surrounding him become rancorous, as he now seems to have every monster’s undiluted attention. A dark monster is one thing - many monsters choose to live in darkness, after all, but a daemon? In this part of Underland? That’s nearly unheard of.

“Last call for the Universal City!” calls a voice just outside the train, cutting through the harsh whispering. “Last call for the Universal City!”

It seems the train will be leaving soon.

The Universal City will arrive on Earth in the next post.

Seems innocent enough. Why not, it might even put me in a good mood or something. Heh, I almost fell for my own bullshit there for a second.

"Alright, fine, let's do this quick."

Tasar moves closer to help with the bag, positioning himself to keep his bicycle in view the whole time. He'd dealt with people trying to steal it before, so he was familiar with what precautions to take to keep his stuff... his. He felt a bit bad for the kid, who seemed so trusting of him. If he was a different person, he might have taken the bag for himself, though whatever was inside of it might not have been worth the effort. It was certainly unwieldy, and Tasar struggled to get a good grip on it past the railing. Once he could start moving it, he decided to ask some questions of the stranger.

"So, you're just trusting that nobody else is gonna take this? Unless, of course, that's your plan. Just seems a bit strange, you know?"

Dahlia didn't really comment on the blatant wizardry of what she just experienced, instead wondering why she hadn't heard about anything like this before.

Looks like this is real alright.

It didn't seem like it was fake or anything like that, and something like someone somehow feeding this experience through her visor seemed too contrived to be true.

The fact the guy said the school wasn't here yet was a bit concerning, though there wasn't much she could do about that.

"Not really hungry right now."

Driving around seemed kinda pointless right now, and she definitely didn't want to see any tricks from this circus freak.

Thistle blinked in surprise, before scowling at the snake. “You just called me fat,” he hissed quietly. The snake gave what could be interpreted as a nervous snake chuckle, if such a thing existed.

”No, I called you large, which you are, compared to me. But I’m not calling you fat- you are well built, strong and hardy. Lean for a lizardfolk, too.

The lizardfolk sighed, looking a tad bit mollified. “Uh… alright. But… why the hell were you hiding underneath a seat?” He didn’t like all the attention he was getting, but there wasn’t anything he could do about it. It wasn’t dark enough to fade away, and everyone was already staring at him.

”I’ve fallen on some hard times, if you can believe it,” the snake wearily intoned. ”You obviously aren’t familiar with my kind, but usually we don’t live around here at all. But I am small, very small compared to my brothers and sisters, and staying away from the cutthroat world of our politics seemed like a good idea for one my size.

“Wait, snakes have-”

”But there is no need for one so powerful as yourself to worry about little old me. You’ve come along, as you can see, and now I seem to have benefited from a streak of good luck. Ignore them,” the snake advised as Thistle glanced at a kobold couple pulling away from him. ”They’re just jealous.”

Thistle swallowed nervously. “Are pets- uh, I mean animals- even allowed on this train?” He murmured quietly. The snake gave a flick of his tail and readjusted his position around the lizardfolk’s neck, smirking. “Perhaps. Perhaps not. But I am not a mere animal. I am your familiar,” he reasoned. ”And you are on a train to the Universal City. I highly doubt that they would deny me the right to ride, especially with as little space as I take up.”

The black humanoid nodded. “Uh… ok, if you paid, I guess that makes sense. But what was that about not wanting to participate in politics-”

”Oh, look at that, the creature hissed quickly, red eyes glancing at a clock as he flared his wings. “We shall be leaving very soon, very soon.

Galva's stranger reveals himself to be a very tall boy with a scruffy beard and a crop top. Jeez, do all the students here dress like that? Well, looking around, they clearly don’t…

“Call me Seb,” the stranger says with a lazy smirk. “I’m part of the, uh… I guess you could call us a welcoming committee. Half our team is being lazy slackers, though, so it’s just me and the other guy right now.”

Seb takes a look down at the bags still in Galva’s hands, raising a single eyebrow. “Still haven’t moved in? Shouldn’t that be like, the first thing you do when you get here?”

The icy kid sighs. “Right, the school does that. You’d think for such a wide-reaching establishment they’d make things a bit easier for all their students.”

The boy steps forward and puts one of his bags on the ground and starts feeling around the wall with his free hand. Everywhere he touches, frost spreads along the wall from his fingertips.

“There should be some kind of hidden… thing here. Had to find it on my own last year. Let me tell you, that was not fun.”

The spreading frost soon reveals a small section of the wall that’s different from the rest. “Aha,” the icy boy exclaims, pressing that part of the wall in.

All of a sudden, the wall seems to whirr mechanically, before opening up to reveal a hidden platform on the other side.

“About the only thing these stupid powers are good for,” the boy mutters, stepping to the side. “All right, everyone in before any normies see us. And yeah, make sure you have your tickets with you, looks like it’s about to leave.”

Inside the hole, a subway train is already docked at platform four and one-fifth. Magicians of all ages struggle to get their luggage onto the train before it departs.

Nearby, a bored-looking guy stands near the train accepting tickets.

“I mean, it’s not gonna leave my sight,” the merman says, “that is, assuming you don’t take it. Probably should have thought of that.”

He chuckles a bit, lifting the bag over the railing with Tasar’s help. Once it’s safely on the other side, he grabs onto the railing and lifts himself up, flopping down on the ground on the other side.

The merman sighs deeply. “Thanks, man. I can take it from here.”

Making sure his bag is close by him, the merman closes his eyes and continues lying on the ground, taking deep breaths as his fish tail flops softly.

For those on Gaia, especially those near the edge, the large runes filling the atmosphere start to multiply quickly, until before long, the entire city is surrounded by a glowing blue dome. For a split second, the world past the city limits disappears, quickly replaced by a clear blue sky.

“Alright, looks like we made it,” says Sun’s bus driver. “First stop, Blue Skies Academy!”

The massive clock tower that marks the academy edges ever closer as the bus proceeds further into the city.

For those flying around Earth’s sky, an enormous, glowing blue dome starts to materialize beneath them. The cars and buses move outwards to give the dome space, as shortly after an entire city materializes inside it.

Once the dome retreats, the various vehicles slowly move in, each of them touching down on various places near the academy.

“Well, this is it,” says Dahlia’s driver. "Lemme just find a good parking spot and we’re outta here."

Not too far from them, Laura and Vicki’s bus pulls up in front of the clock tower.

“Alright folks, everybody out,” says the driver. “And ya’ll have a good semester, ya hear?”

As Leona listens, the arguing seems to be coming from three girls, of similar ages, each with pastel-colored hair.

“I just don’t see how your giantess glamours can be classified as sorcery,” says a girl with minty green hair done up in twin ponytails.

“They’re not glamours,” says a girl with white-blond hair done in a braid. “And I’m not a giantess. My powers are mine and mine alone.”

“Oh, and they just so happen to be the exact same powers that Mother was gifted?” the green-haired girl asks. “Your powers were inherited, Aqua. They’re not sorcery.”

“I got the letter!” exclaims the blonde girl, Aqua. “How do you explain that, huh?!”

“Gods above,” sighs the third girl, who has straight, shoulder-length lilac hair. “Both of you settle down. Aqua, you have nothing to prove, and you should be one to talk about questionable magic, Envy Ire.”

The green-haired girl, Envy, sneers at that nickname. “Not like you’re any better, Avarice Adams.”

“Nobody calls me that,” the purple-haired girl smirks.

“Well, they should!” Envy exclaims. “At least that actually sounds like your real name!”

Aqua seems to catch Leona’s gaze, and rolls her eyes at the other two’s shenanigans.

Down in Underland, the last few monsters pass their tickets excitedly to the troll at the booth before climbing on the train.

The spectral figure in the conductor’s uniform calls out to the three boys lagging behind. “Hey, it’s last call. Are you boarding or not?”

Inside the train, a young troll with a black cat boy riding on his shoulders looks around nervously for a place to sit.

“Ooh, there’s an empty spot right there!” says the cat boy, pointing a claw at the large empty spaces on either side of Thistle.

“Uhhh, I think I’d rather take my chances standing up,” the troll mutters.

“Come on, what’s wrong?” the cat asks. “Check it out, that guy even has a snake with him, that’s so cool!”

“Uh, actually, I don’t think…” the troll sighs. He knows there’s no point arguing with him. So, the young troll nervously takes a seat next to Thistle, trying his best not to make any eye contact.

The cat, however, has other ideas.

“Hey, mister,” he whispers, leaning in close to Thistle’s ear. “Can I pet your snake?”

The last few trains to the Universal City will be departing soon.

Well, I honestly can't say I expected that to happen. Whatever, his problem now. He'd better hope his "friend" comes along eventually, he doesn't exactly seem very able to defend himself like this.

Tasar returns to his bike in silence, kicking up the brake stand and remounting as his mind shifts gears back to the Academy and the directions he'd memorized to get there. At least he'd have stories to tell the other incoming Freshmen, if nothing else. Of course, now that he thought about it, Tasar realized that there would be a sizable cohort of students from Earth who would probably never stop gawking and mentioning "how cool it was" or "how incredible this is" or how they "can't believe this is real". Just thinking about it made Tasar sick; living here for many years tended to wear down on the charm.

I need to update these things more often

Christian watches Jacob's actions with a shy look away. He wants to help but hesitates and frowns, clutching his backpack tightly.

Christian looks at the Ice Sorcerer. He listens and frowns nodding to what was said. He then watches as he opens the passage way. "I knew it, I knew it was something like that!"

He searches through his own pockets, taking out the ticket. Then grabbing his wheeled suitcase he starts to pull it with him towards platform four and one-fifth.

He looks at the Ice mage with a polite but shy smile, looking a little awkward. The kid definitely having a ticket for this train in hand. "Thank you very much."

"I nearly missed it. That was bad. Really bad. I've got one chance." He thinks to himself desperately. He quickly rushes and tries to get onto the train. He will give the man a ticket if asked.
