Huh, I guess I underestimated his like of gore and 90/80s style animation ._. Well I should probably check the video at least to see if I managed to guess right or if I'm being too cynical (irony I know considering I just was annoyed him being too cynical about modern anime)

I know it's not new new, but I hope he hits Space Dandy on an episode of Oldtaku New Tricks. There's at least a bevy of Suave jokes to make there on top of the show just being enjoyable.

Basically he says the reputation it gets for its first episode is understandable, but unfortunate because there's a more or less enjoyable anime that comes after it.

These look so dull. I'm looking forward to the next anime he's reviewing though.

The Detective Corp anime confuses me.

Why are they hiding out at a school?

Why are the girls worth so much?

Why did an (apparently) acclaimed anime director make this?!?

I can confirm that Galerians: Rion was aired on MTV2 once. That's how I saw it.

I kinda have a soft spot for Galerians because a Survival Horror game with ESP has ridiculous amounts of potential, but Bennett outlines the many plot holes it has at the end when all of the revelations have been laid out. It's almost like the game had Complexity Addiction.

I'm actually amazed that Bennett even owns the game. tongue

The channel also tried to air Heat Guy J, but something was wrong with the aspect ratio; it looked far too narrow.

Next month is Fighting Game Month, starting with Street Fighter Alpha.

Didn't Johnny Yong Bosch voice a character in the Galerians sequel?

Street Fighter Alpha

He's right that Mortal Kombat does feel like the only fighting game that actually put some effort into its storytelling.

[up]Agreed. MK 9 was a good retelling of the first 3 games. And while X was very flawed, it's still way better than most others.

For all its flaws, MKX does a lot of surprisingly good things. Major status quo change to its cast, including introducing new main characters who are all pretty well recieved by the fandom.

by fighting game standards MK 9 and MKX might as well be Shakespeare.

Is Akuma even much of a villain in Street Fighter these days? Hell, him killing Ryu's master was retconned.

He did say "That's before even going into the retcons"

[up]In Street Fighter IV, it's revealed that Gouken didn't die in his battle with Akuma but was simply rendered unconscious for an extended period of time. Gouken survived the Shun Goku Satsu by completely emptying his soul of emotions, which left him in a deep coma.

Which, as far as I know, has reduced Akuma's confirmed kills down to just one. Maybe two, depending on how they decide Gen goes out.

My experience with that property begins and ends with Capcom vs SNK 2001: Mark of the Millenium. Haohmaru is a powerhouse in that game.
