I've seen it every once in a while. I'm also pretty sure Arcsys has done it at least once, though I can't remember which game (it'd be easier if I knew the FGC term for it).
Though unique execution and denial of supers is kind of characteristic if anime fighters in general.
Okay, I've thought of a third way to do the Makosen: boil it down to its most basic elements, which is "fire weaker beam, if weaker beam miss, fire stronger beam at where opponent is".
King Piccolo charges up and fires a weaker beam. The weaker beam can be fired sideways or angled upwards. If the weaker beam misses, King Piccolo automatically fires the second beam aiming right at where the opponent is. If the weaker beam hits, the stronger beam is still fired and the weaker beam combos into it. The stronger beam alone does 2,200 damage, while the weaker beam into stronger beam does 2,600 and is harder to hit with.

About fucking with the meter bar, Melty Blood does that
Gohan should have less bonuses available to his moves at base. He should also have less bonuses that unlock at Level 1 Potential Unleashed and more bonuses that unlock at every subsequent level of Potential Unleashed. At least one extra bonus to his moveset per level. This would make Gohan less overpowering until he puts more investment into Potential Unleashed, and would give players more incentive to use the levels between 1 and 7 more.
Honestly I’d absolutely love the Pilaf gang mech to be a fighter it’d be amazing lol. Also too whoever said it I love the idea of Trunks and Goten as an Ice Climbers type duo character. ^ ^
Random but how likely do you all think Mr Satan is to be added at somepoint? He’s probably the most major character from Z not in the game at all, but I’ve also seen a fair amount of people argue for/against him.

I mean, I love Satan, but like.
...This game is actually. Balanced. Ish. It tries more than Budokai or Xenoverse ever did.
Even as a joke character, Satan would be. I dunno.
Like, it'd be neat if he was an assist for Fat Buu maybe?
I want the Pilaf Gang in mechs because. I honestly sorta just want their era and aspect of Dragon Ball to be represented?
All the Androids are basically our Red Ribbon representation. Tao Pai Pai would basically just be Tien without Chiaotzu.
...Though, granted, Tao vs Kid Goku would be some hella fantastic Dramatic Finishes.
...Arale's sorta a Red Ribbon Arc character.

The only WTF character I can think of would be Pilaf, Mai, and Shu in a mech.
In no way I'm against their inclusion but is are they really WTF characters when they're one of the few DB characters that can be in the game?
Though unique execution and denial of supers is kind of characteristic if anime fighters in general.
I would argue that stopping meter gain in fighting games is pretty unique in general.
It's been awhile since I touch GG XRD but what was Raven's gimmick again?
Ah, thank you for answering my question. I barely touch Melty Blood series. Or Visual Novel/Tsukihime in general.
No General Blue, really?
I still rather have Hercule being playable for the sake of tradition.
No General Blue.
Same reason Chiaotzu isn't playable by himself.
Yea that's sounds about right
Here's an idea that I'm surprised everyone (including myself, until now) hasn't thought of yet: Future Gohan. I don't think I would want the character, but they could totally add him to the game.
A fighter who only uses one hand would be pretty unique if done right.
Oro is a thing
My thinking about Future Gohan is that we already have two Gohans, and if any other Gohan showed up, it would probably be the kid version of him first.
Weird how I rather have Great Saiyaman over Kid Gohan. Probably has something to do with Teen Gohan already having a chunk of his move already. Except for Masenko for God know why

Oh right, how did I forget about Great Saiyaman? I'd put him over Kid Gohan then.
Saiyaman fights and acts very differently than Gohan does normally, so it works out. Plus he has a sidekick partner.
I just thought of a really compelling argument for Super Buu as DLC. The entire argument is one single move that Arcsys absolutely would put in, it would be the greatest thing ever, and it would justify Super Buu as a character by the move's inclusion alone.
Super Buu would have the Dangerous Liquid Bomb technique. The move where he liquifies himself, forces himself down the opponent's throat, and then fucks up their internal organs by making them inflate like a really disgusting water balloon. Super Buu would have a special ending if he kills the opponent with it, like what 21, Fat Buu, Base Goku, and Beerus have, where Super Buu makes the opponent explode into a million pieces from the inside out.
That'd be stupidly amazing and they should do it lol.
Super Buu is a weird character for me, I don't really have anything against him per-say, and I wouldn't really be mad if he was added to the game. But I also think he'd be a little, underwhelming I guess? At least as a DLC character. I'd get if he was in the base roster of a sequel but as DLC, he'd be a bit of a meh addition to me. The fact his biggest attack (the Human Extinction Attack) is already one of Kid Buu's supers makes him seem redundant. Then again I'd still prefer him over another Goku (well besides Kid Goku) so meh.
Super Buu would have to have Gohan, Gotenks, and Piccolo's moves in order to not play to closely to Kid Buu or Fat Buu.
I think Super Buu should be able to absorb his teammates for an costume change and a power boost. He gets an extra Level 1 attack based on the first person he absorb's Level 1, and he gets an extra Level 3 attack based on the second person he absorb's Level 3.
I just can't decide on a default Level 3 for Super Buu. He'd have the Dangerous Liquid Bomb as a Level 1, but I can't decide between Human Extinction Attack or Revenge Death Bomber for his default Level 3. Either way, the other move becomes a basic ki blast, and either way, Super Buu's Level 3 is just a glorified version of one of the other Buu's Level 1.
Just give us Buuhan then.
No, I think Buuhan works better as a costume Super Buu gets when he absorbs Adult Gohan.
Decided to go with Dangerous Liquid Bomb as a special move, Revenge Death Bomber as his Level 1, and a super cinematic Human Extinction Attack as his Level 3. This is my full Super Buu moveset:
Super Buu has the body shape of Kid Buu with the height of Fat Buu. He has mostly different specials, and while his supers may be similar to the two other Buus, they function differently and have little quirks to them.
Super Buu has the ability to absorb his teammates for a power-up, and he can absorb both teammates at once. Super Buu changes a little cosmetically for each teammate. He gets +10% more damage and faster per teammate, regardless of who he absorbed. Super Buu also gains super moves based on his absorbed teammates. Super Buu regains HP and blue health equal to half of the HP and blue health the teammate he absorbed had remaining.
Super Buu has the Dangerous Liquid Bomb as a special move. He liquifies himself and flies towards the opponent in an arc, forcing himself down the opponent's throat on contact. The opponent inflates and Buu damages their insides before he comes out of their mouth. The EX version is faster and Buu does more damage to their insides. If Super Buu kills an opponent while inside them, he explodes them from the inside out.
Super Buu also has the Mystic Ball Attack as a ground or air special move, like Kid Buu. Super Buu's Mystic Ball is a lot bigger, and Super Buu travels sideways.
Super Buu has Candy Beam as a ki blast, like Kid Buu. Super Buu turns the opponent into a sundae and drinks them while lying down and reading a magazine. Super Buu flips one page of the magazine every time he uses the move, and what page he's on is kept consistent. Does 1,000 damage and heals 500 with no absorptions, 1,100 damage and heals 550 with one absorption. and 1,200 damage and heals 600 with two absorptions.
Super Buu has another ki blast where he screams and shoots a pink beam out of his mouth.
Super Buu has a Level 1 slot that normally does nothing, but is filled up by the Level 1 super of the first person Super Buu absorbs. Super Buu's Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack ghosts have his head.
Super Buu has the Revenge Death Bomber as his Level 1. Super Buu charges up and releases a full-screen explosion from his body. Super Buu is blown into bits by the explosion, but his pieces can be moved freely around the screen afterwards completely invulnerable to attack. Super Buu reforms after a couple of seconds. Does 2,156 damage with no absorptions, 2,371 damage with one absorption, and 2,587 damage with two absorptions.
Super Buu has a Level 3 slot that normally does nothing, but is filled up by the Level 3 super of the second person Super Buu absorbs.
Super Buu has the Human Extinction Attack as a Level 3. Super Buu charges up and grins. He fires what appears to be a giant solid pink beam into the air. The camera cuts to the Destructive Finish screen, and an uncountable number of pink lasers can be seen arcing into the air from a single spot and spreading out to fire back down. Suddenly, a ton of beams fire down onto the stage, some of which aim right at the opponent, who is hit by 10 beams total. The rest of the opposing team are also hit by the beams, shown by some beams flying off-screen towards the opponent's side. If the opponent is hit by the center beam, it traps them inside and combos into the rest of the beams, doing extra damage. Unlike base Vegeta's Level 3, Super Buu's body is not a hitbox, only the beam above is, which makes hitting with the beam somewhat difficult. Does 4,000 damage maximum, 3,000 with just the 10 beams, and 600 to both opposing teammates with no absorptions. Does 4,400 damage maximum, 3,300 with just the 10 beams, and 660 to both opposing teammates with one absorption. Does 4,800 damage maximum, 3,600 with just the 10 beams, and 720 to both opposing teammates with two absorptions.

New details on the upcoming free update, including a tournament mode with a bunch of different rulesets (including a Tournament of Power ruleset, which I hope means that it disables Air Dash, Double Jump, and Super Dash), as well as Z Trophies and Z Trophy rooms based on famous locations from the series, and finally: Christmas costumes.
