A Tumblr ship that's basically canon is at #1? Will wonders never cease.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.You think when David Michelinie and Todd Mc Farlane created Venom, they ever once sat down and said, "You know, I think this may be one of the most beautiful romances ever created in superhero comics"?
I mean... the symbiote is essentially Spider-Man's clingy ex, and the Eddie/Venom/Peter relationship is basically a messed-up Love Triangle. Remove Peter from the equation, and all you have left is Eddie/Venom. It's not that strange the ship took off.
"Oh sweet Ditko, this is the worst thing I have ever bought about."
- Peter Parker.
"Ehhhhhh...." - Mephisto
Having rewatched the movie, I gotta say that it is still quite an entertaining movie, and I'm not quite sure what the critics were expecting, even if it is flawed.
Also, I realized that the theme of symbiosis is actually a running theme throughout the whole story. Note how all the times a symbiote was forced into becoming bonded with a host, the latter died, whereas Venom willingly bonded with Eddie, and that one was the one that worked. While Eddie obviously hated it at first, he eventually warmed up to it. It's almost as if the movie is saying that change can't be forced, and both sides need to adapt first before anything like that can happen. So what do you know? The film actually has more layers than I thought.
Also, I'm not really sure where the whole idea that Venom is a good version of a Satanic Archetype came from on that character's page. If anything, he's more of an Anti Anti Christ. Riot and Carlton Drake are more of the devil figure in my eyes.
Superhero movies need to be the next Citizen Kane or they are colossal failures not worth watching.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!I remember reading somewhere that Venom is rather unique among the Symbiotes because it prefers to bond with just one host.
Princess Aurora is underrated, pass it on.That was a pretty great car chase.
Better than I thought, and closer to the comics than the trailers were leading me to expect. Someone in marketing really didn't like this movie — meanwhile this was some of the animators' dream job. The color desaturation and shaky-cam didn't always do the action any favours, but even so, those animators were having the time of their lives. Worth it for the effects alone, kind of actually wishing I'd seen it in IMAX 3D, for real.

I ended up seeing it late, pretty much because of word of mouth from friends, and the fact I had a cheap ticket due to the loyalty program at my cinema.
It was a pretty enjoyable film for me.
Parts of the plot didn't really mesh properly, particularly the parts with Riot and Drake, but I still had fun.
She-Venom was a big highlight. And I was a fan of how they used Anne in the film.
Also Dan, the guy is just a ridiculously good person for putting aside everything to just want to help Eddie.
Although he did seem weirdly friendly with him even knowing how Eddie screwed Anne over. note
"But if that happened, Melia might actually be happy. We can't have that." - Handsome RobI think it's more he's a doctor who takes his hippocratic oath very seriously. There's definitely something wrong with Eddie and as a medical professional it's his job to find out what, no matter how much of a jerk the patient is. (Though given he must know Eddie's stone broke that's still pretty noble of him.)
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."So, a doctor acting as one from a country with public healthcare...
I am baffled at Americans being surprised by doctors acting that way; kinda dystopic if you ask me.
I mean, we in the UK do have public healthcare (for now) but Eddie paying for his treatment in America seems a bit of a plot hole.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."Analysts dissect what Venom means for Sony's Marvel Universe.
ComicBook.com is talking about this article like it means the end for MCU!Spider-Man, but it's just to get people to read their stuff, right?
...Right?
I wouldn't put it past Sony to take completely the wrong lesson from Venom. It's not "Ha, we finally made a good Spider-Man movie! Screw you, Marvel!", it's "Marvel made people love Spider-Man again, and that goodwill probably reflected back on us and had people give this movie way more of a chance than they would have otherwise."

Can’t help but notice that your post is post #666.
Eerie...
Eh, maybe it’s nothing. Sure, Venom raked in the dough because everyone knows Venom.
But do they know Morbius???
I would be very surprised if any of the other villain movies made anything resembling Venom money.
This song needs more love.Random thought.
Unless Stan Lee already filmed his scenes for other films, which seem likely, this would be the last Marvel film to have him as cameo.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. He most certainly filmed his cameo for Avengers 4 (Completed Filming) and Captain Marvel (About to come out).
EDIT: Apparently Spider-Man: Far From Home completed filming last month. As such it's likely to be his last cameo. Which would be fitting.

Mileena Madness... about what?

Mileena MadnessKind of a random comment, but I recently read this novel by Molly Tanzer, Creatures of Will and Temper (might start a page for it), that's sort of like a cozy, lesbian version of The Picture of Dorian Gray and it has a version of demons that inhabit the summoner's body and have a presence in their mind and provide abilities including heightened physical and mental skills in exchange for a greatly shortened life span.
With this set up coupled with elements like the demon sharing/encouraging the host's physical and emotional attractions, the implication that the fact that the demon parasite described above might be a rare benevolent member of an Always Chaotic Evil species, and a host of the good demon fighting against the host of the evil kind, I was thinking to myself that it was the greatest novel about the Venom symbiote ever written.

For that Venom to work, it'd have to be in the middle of a film series, with Eddie Brock being introduced before the symbiote, and with a film devoted to the symbiote first messing Spiderman up, then bonding with Eddie, creating Venom, and the climax of that movie ending with a Spidey-Venom truce. THEN you can have antihero Venom for spinoffs or as a side character.
