Best developer of the decade.
To this day, I am adamant that they would be the best developer for hypothetical remakes of Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2.
I wouldn't say best developer. When it comes to combat and stuff, hell yeah, but a lot of the stories in their games definitely need some work.
For instance, besides having Platinum combat, one of the main reasons Nier Automata did so well was because it was the best of both worlds; Platinum's combat, and Yoko Taro's writing.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.The whole point of the company aside from Collabs with story orientated companies is that they aren't supposed to have compelling stories, but its more of a window dressing for some of the best combat systems in gaming, and they want to make GAMES, not glorified mundane and realistic movies (Quantic Dream, looking at you).
Watch SymphogearI would like to heavily disagree on the story part. The stories of Platinum are the greatest pieces of human drama I've ever seen, why would you think that?
Jokes aside, I love Platinum's storytelling because it's all one massive joke, if I'm being honest. Bayonetta's lore and worldbuilding is absolute gibberish, but the characters and the cutscenes have so much energy to them. The first time Bayonetta equips Scarborough Fair is a glorious example. Instead of just attaching it to her ankles, Bayonetta and Rodin do this elaborate dance that ends with the former holding the latter at gunpoint, while the latter serves a killer cocktail. That was completely unnecessary, but I am fucking glad that they put that there. All the time, 100 percent of the time, Bayonetta's a joy to watch in motion.
I think a Sonic by Platinum could work, but I'm not 100 percent sold on the idea. Modern Sonic's an obstacle dodging roller-coaster, and Platinum has a fetish for those; but their biggest strength is their combat system, and Sonic I feel doesn't really need launchers, complex strings, or offsets.
On the topic at hand, I'm real happy that Platinum Games coming to PC is a thing we're living. They're never really able to hold their high framerates in their original console versions, and PG's style demands high framerate all the time.

"Curry killed the pussy hoping that I could kill the hate in you" - Curry, D. "TABOO | TA13OO." TA13OO, PH, 2018I hope Max Anarchy/Reigns gets a PC port someday. I think it's their most underrated game, and I loved it dearly back when its online community was still alive. I had a great Durga that played "honest" (no cheap tricks). Yeah, the netcode was really buggy and there were some cheap exploits, but there are just so few games that play the way it does.
Thunder, Thunder, Thunder...Now that SNK's back in the game, the game I would like to see PlatinumGames make the most is a PlatinumGames -styled remake of Mutation Nation.
The storm has now resided, the wolf now rests.Sorry for the necroing, but has anyone been following Hideki Kamiya on Twitter?
Apparently he's been futzing with a Nintendo Switch and he might have said something about an Ōkami 2?
I really don't know. I can't read kanji and I don't trust my Twitter app using Bing to translate it out.
Could you link the tweet in question?
Kamiya kinda posts. A lot.
PSN ID: FateSeraph Congratulations! She/TheyI'll have to take a look for the one specific tweet mentioning Okami 2, because I was kinda asking if anyone follows him at all. And can read kanji.
However...
He may have already confirmed Okami 2. And Viewtiful Joe 3. And The Wonderful 102...
Or maybe he's joshing? My brain hurts...
They made Okami, as well?
How does one company consistently pump out so many great ideas back to back without getting derivative?
Technically Okami was Clover Studios, or proto-Platinum.
I can read a bit of Hanzi, so depending what he put I might be able to help. But if it's just his twitter and no other source he's trolling as he always does.
PSN ID: FateSeraph Congratulations! She/TheyPlatinum Games teases major announcement for February 27-due issue of Weekly Famitsu
The storm has now resided, the wolf now rests.Wonderful 101 re-release, I'm guessing.
That was already announced with the Kickstarter. Its probably something else.
Watch SymphogearKamiya directed it back when he was at Clover.
It's part of why I think maybe it would have been a better idea to let him do Zelda instead of Star Fox.
Hashimoto directed Star Fox Zero, I don't think Kamiya actually had any direct involvement in that regard.
Infinite Space 2...
I can dream, right?
I despise hypocrisy, unless of course it is my own.It was probably Shigeru Miyamoto that insisted upon the bizarre control scheme for Star Fox Zero, along with the lack of decent multiplayer. He has a habit for demanding support for bizarre or "unique" concepts, even if they don't work out, and he's generally shown little interest in pushing Nintendo to release more online multiplayer-oriented games.

Project G.G. was announced in Famitsu, which is described as Kamiya's final part in his spiritual "hero trilogy". Teaser art is about a boy transforming into a giant to fight Kaiju. They plan to release it on all platforms. It's only now started development as Kamiya puts together a team.

That sounds about right a comparison.

Platinum Games, formerly Clover Studios, is a Japanese video game development company. The company was founded under the name Seeds, Inc. in August 2006 by Shinji Mikami, Atsushi Inaba, and Hideki Kamiya, former key members of Capcom's Clover Studio. The company merged with...

...RULES OF NAAAY-CHUR.
AND THEY RUN WHEN THE SUN COMES UP. WITH THEIR LIVES ON THE LINE.
You probably know them for that sequence. I remember them for making one of the only 3 games I ever played on the Wii (Smash Bros Brawl, No More Heroes, and this).
They like their ultra violence.
And I remember them for this bullsh't which I'm currently playing through on the Playstation 3. One of the most sinister 3D beat'em'ups I've ever experienced.
Then there's Vanquish (which got a recent PC re-release), Legend of Korra (meh), the Wonderful 100, and a bunch of miscellanous titles.
