Any spoilers in that? I still need to watch season two.

Surprisingly, no. I was just about to ask where would this special even fit in the continuity.

They very deliberately avoid showing if Shadow-san is still an instructor but it seems like a season 1 thing or something pre-season 1 from how VILE interacts with Carmen.

Special comes out today. I only played one path, but it was pretty fun. The "bonus scene" you are rewarded with is SO GOOD.

[up] I hope I'm not spoiling too much, but this special seems to take place between seasons 1 and 2.

Did two, how different are the paths supposed to be?

[up] There's supposed to be eight different endings. From what I've seen, most of them are Bad Ends where Zack and Ivy get brainwiped, and one of them is the Worst End where Carmen is also wiped. They don't feel like endings since Chief takes you back to where you screwed up. There's at least two Good Ends, one where you rescue the twins early and one where you take up one final heist, but you have to get Julia to trust you.

Then I might have did those two, the early rescue with Tigress and the one with Jules.

I think I managed to get bonus ending choice by literally doing nothing though :P Not sure I was distracted by other stuff so i think I made no choices at all so whatever netflix defaulted on [lol]

That might be the "default" version, then. The one you will see if the interactive function is not available on a specific device. It happened with Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters, Puss in Boots, and other shows with those specials.

Nah, it did have choices, I didn't choose the bonus ending thing because as I said, I don't remember choosing any choices just letting netflix time itself out. I didn't watch what happened though so dunno if it ended in game over multiple times before it reached that point [lol]

So little bit late, but yeah realized on actually trying to focus on this that each time you pick wrong choice it later rewinds to the correct choice and that all endings have bonus scene option for the ending [lol]

I managed to get every bit on content there is on only two playthroughs. Granted, only the first one was blind and I just happened to screw up in a way where I watched more content. I remember having a harder time getting everything on Stretch Armstrong: The Breakout, even though it's still the same amount of content.

Anyways, burying the lead: Season 3 is officially confirmed.

Learned of this only recently and as someone whose childhood was almost literally made of these games and other '90s edutainment classics (Humongous, Sierra, etc.) I must say I'm intrigued. I see they've pulled characters from basically every corner of the franchise (including an earlier cartoon I never knew existed) and perhaps most notably made Carmen herself an Anti-Hero who is against VILE, whereas in the games she is of course their leader or at least a top-ranked member. How's that work out? And has it been explained why they did it?

[up] I don't know if it has been explained but this show isn't the very first time they somewhat altered Carmen's motivations.

Remember that 90's show "Where on Earth is Carmen San Diego?" That was also the series that I think made Zack and Ivy actual known characters.

Anyway, Carmen's backstory was that she used to be a Detective sort before becoming a thief but in that show, I think she was always a loner without really having connections to VILE.

Makes me wanna do some research because aside from the gameshow on PBS Kids and one single game I played in middle school, I don't think I had a lot of access to her stuff.

[up][up] From what I saw on an interview, they wanted a fresh take on the character, and more specifically, let her tell her tale from her point of view. That makes me wonder if it'll end with her taking over VILE or something.

I also imagine part of the reason was the focus: this show generally comes off as "What if Where on Earth Is Carmen Sandiego?, but Carmen was the heroine?" and it definitely plays more for fans of that show and its theming than the rest of the franchise - and while Carmen was the bad guy in that show, she was a likeable kickass Noble Demon spy, which lends itself to making a version where she drops the Noble Demon part and just becomes a heroic spy.

Well I finally on date with the show after bing watching all of it and this are my thoughs.

As for many, I agree I feel weird how the series pretty much retool carmen into a kim posible like hero and in some way i dont like it because carmen lost a big part of what make it so cool: she was a imposible thief who make it awsome heist, is also weird how the show take a shot against stealing things when her main chararter was a thief of incredible proportions.

Another issue is many of the suporting cast is...annoying: jay and zack seen to be the load sometimes, specially zack who bring me capitan planet flashback.

But is also is good is how they balance ACME, Carmen and VILE, I like how each one asume thing of the other based on little information by how secretive they are, making each faction stand of is own.

I actually don't disagree with that and there are times where I can't stand how much of a goody-two-shoes Carmen is in this series. However, I don't mind it because the premise is executed very well. I like the characters and the intrigue and how stylish it all is.

Also, it's partly because it's the closest we'll get to a Sly Cooper animated series, especially since the actual cartoon is MIA and the little info we got from it sounded awful anyway. tongue

Well, Carmen is only 19 years old in this. So potentially the series could end with her transitioning to the more familiar version.

The lack of Julia and Gray in that trailer is....interesting. So is Shadow-san's brother coming back.

Also, was that Dante Basco?

Season 3 is out.

That was a half season right? Or did the Interactive Special count for the other 5 episodes?

I miss Julia. Episode 4 was my favorite, good to see Shadowsan and his brother made up.

Although 3 was very close. Loved seeing Paper Star and Tigress working together.

Also Chase stepping up the competence was hilarious.

Apparently there were some "budget issues", but yeah, it felt like half a season.

The opening in Mexico was fun, even if ultimately little has progressed in regards to Carmen's investigation of her parents. I liked how most of the season so far has taken place in a solid timeline and through a few holidays, too. Perfect timing. I was surprised by Julia retiring to become a historian. I don't think we'll see the last of her, but I wonder if she's being sincere about it or if she's gonna help her from afar. Also, kind of funny that Chase is now having the arc I thought was going to go to Julia. A little disappointed we didn't get much of their rapport.

I dunno what to think about the plot point with Sonia. So it means Carmen is now inspiring others to continue her work? I wasn't super interested in that plot, but we'll see where it goes.

Also kind of surprised that Roundabout was taken down so soon after he got the spotlight. What would VILE even do with him now that his one asset is gone? Will he hang out with them on the castle? Get demoted?

Good episodes overall, but I think I would've preferred a full season.
