So this is a thing that exists. And I thought Kingdom Hearts was weird.

Seeing the original - and finding it surprisingly entertaining - I always thought that a Disney Utopia having the North Korean prison system was a little jacked up.
However, I am impressed that so many people were so accepting of villain children attending the school. I think a Little Rock Nine style showdown would be more realistic.
I watched some more of it too.
It's a little too... "Disney tween" for me. A few years back and I might have enjoyed it more. It feels like that sort of classical throwback that I should like, but I can't ever tell my coworkers that I do or I'm gonna come off as some kind of creep.
I feel like this concept would have worked better if they'd just made an animated series or a film out of it - you could have more characters showing up, for one.
The line Maleficent's daughter gave about what it's like being on the island, "We don't have parties... it's more like... gang activity," had me in stitches.

Why do I like this? Oh, right
.
You know how Kingdom Hearts took Disney characters and mixed them with Square Enix characters and made that work? And how Once Upon a Time took Disney characters and put them in a Lotus-Eater Machine?
If there's one thing I've learned about Disney is that they can take pretty much any source material and warp it into whatever they darn well please and still make it entertaining. Descendants is, as the title suggests, about the sons and daughters of famous disney villains. I never watched the first one, but got the gist of the plot and liked the concept (but mostly that one song).
The new people are Ursula's daughter, and Captain Hook's and Gaston's sons
.
