Meanwhile Selessia continues to play second fiddle to Meteora. Can't say I was expecting that when the series began. Not that I mind, Meteora's been pretty stellar on being a good character in her own right despite her expositional tendencies and I really liked her interaction with Sota here, especially since the dumb kid seemed close to cracking under Magane's influence.
Mecha Pilot and Gruff Detective are getting shafted. I think Mecha Pilot's Creator has contributed more to the plot.
I suppose any of the characters watching Mamika's show are going to feel really bad now: seeing how she was supposed to be vs how she ended up.

Well, if anything the problem with Meteora is that she's too perfect. She magically figures out everything that's going on, and is also basically the leader of the good guys. Throw in her supportive personality, and I'm guessing she's going to die soon. I mean, Alice is obviously going to kill her, if that's the case. So Meteora will ultimately be subject to Mentor Occupational Hazard.

Well, maybe so, but honestly this show hasn't struck me as especially well written, so even if they end up shooting themselves in the foot because of it, I still think it'll happen.
Actually, I kind of get the impression that both Mamika and Meteora have gotten so much attention so early in the show precisely because they were always planned to die first, and they wanted to make sure they'd gotten their development first. Which is why characters like Rui, Selestia, and Altair have been relatively ignored. It's not their "time" yet. I wouldn't say this is a great way of writing a series like this, but that's the impression I've gotten.

What if MUPpet was offscreen'ed by Mamika?

The thing so far is that there are only two villains anyway (Altair and Magane), and everyone else is a misunderstood hero of some sort. So it'd be difficult to kill off a villain first. Well, I suppose we know almost nothing about the mysterious gunman yet, but that's all the more reason he's not going to die soon.
Incidentally, it was pointed out on another forum that if Magane's curses last forever, then what she did to Alice is still in effect. Meaning that if Alice ever tries to stab her with the spear, she'll get stabbed instead. That seems like it could be a Chekhov's Gun.

My thoughts too
So it's possible Alice does kill Meteora, then realizes she's been tricked. She goes for Magane and then dead. Though part of me does not want her to attack or kill Meteora just because I do not want her to be that dumb. Alice immediately did not trust Magane when they first met so I want to give her the benefit of the doubt she knows Magane is tricking her to attack Meteora and goes along with it to then surprise attack Magane but curse kicks in.
"If music be the food of love, PLAY ON" - William ShakespeareSo, I just watched episode 9, still just as verbose and padded out as the others.
Honestly, I'm with Magane on this one
◊: really getting tired of this show having all characters display Prometheus-levels of idiocy just to get the plot going. If there's nobody around, why can't Meteora just summon cannons and kill Magane on the spot? Why can't Mamika just say "Altair killed me" instead of "this person" this and "Alice-chan" that? And while the government was presented to us as competent, they sure didn't do a whole lot of research on Magane's background to alert the others on her powers, let alone warned that there's a dangerous person dressed with a black school uniform going around (and why Magane herself doesn't change clothes as the other girls did is beyond me). And the less said about Alice, the better...
I'm sticking just to see who are these new characters coming to the real world and hope they're not drooling morons as well.
"Effective Altruism" is just another bunch of horsesh*t.On the other hand, she was kind of planning on killing Meteora anyway? Not specifically, for a grudge, but just in general as one of her several enemies. So it's not much of a stretch for her to believe that one of her enemies killed one of her allies. Frankly, it changes nothing for her, other than to make her prioritize Meteora over anyone else on that side.
Yeah, that part seemed especially contrived to me. "Listen to Magane" is actually longer than "Altair killed me." I mean, maybe Alice wouldn't realize who Altair is, but at least she'd be inclined to do her research. A similar outcome could've been achieved without any dying words at all: just find her corpse and swear vengeance on her enemies.

"Woohoo! End of part 1!"
Oh Magane, you're a fucking monster, but you're hard to hate.
Also, poor poor Alice. Anti-Villain and Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds are putting it lightly. =(

It could go ether way really. We'll see where things are at the halfway point in two episodes.
