In fact the similarities to Dark Souls were largely an accident; Team Cherry apparently hadn't played it much prior to making the game, so it didn't consciously affect the game's design overall. They attributed the similarities to Dark Souls and Hollow Knight both borrowing from a similar pool of influences.
From what I can see, this game seems to be a deliberate contrast or even inversion of the first. Instead of making your way further and further down, you ascend. It could just be we're seeing a lategame stage town, but I also get the impression that this Kingdom is much more lively than Hollownest and not really in ruin at present.
Y'know, thinking on it, one more thing kinda jumps out at me looking at the trailer. One of the clips of Hornet fighting Lace has the arena take place surrounded by masses of white flowers. While the design is slightly different, at least for the ones up close, the coloration does evoke the Delicate Flowers from the first game. The ones which, if one is presented to the White Lady, are said to come from a far away kingdom, and not from Hallownest. Hm...
We have a decent idea of what the start of the game will look like thanks to the millipede thing that Hornet fights and later rides. It seems like it's the resident fast travel system of the game that you unlock after you defeat it, which means its boss fight should be pretty early. I think the area where you fight it is part of the first or maybe second major area of the game.
Something also worth mentioning is that their is likely more than one Wyrm. The Wyrm the Pale King was spawned from was very large but you can find another one that is much smaller in Kingdom's Edge. Its possible that this second kingdom can have a Pale King, but not our Pale King.
Either that or we are dealing with something to do with the Dream and or Nightmare judging by how the new Kingdom is described as haunted.
From what I understand there's only one wyrm in Kingdom's Edge. Where's this second wyrm you're talking about?
Edit: apparently there's a theory that the entrance to the Colosseum of Fools is a second wyrm, but it doesn't look quite like the corpse of the Pale Wyrm that we find. Either different wyrms look really different from one another, we're seeing the front and back ends of the same wyrm or the Colosseum is a different being.

I didn't remember it correctly. I was thinking of Bardoon
being another wyrm but he says that he is not a wyrm because he does not have enough limbs and is much smaller.
I still think their is a possibility that their may be more than 1 wyrm though.

Actually, Bardoon says that he has too many limbs to be a wyrm (wyrms are presumably like snakes and worms).
Also, White Defenders' journal entry mentions something called "the Battle of the Blackwyrm", and both Bardoon and Mister Mushroom talk about wyrms in the plural. It's pretty much always been confirmed that there's more than one of them.

Any else expecting the true final boss of Silksong to be The Knight in the form of the Shadelord?
How do you think they're going to handle abilities?
I'm guessing it takes the place of the Knight's spells, and unlike in the original game you can change them out for different abilities you unlock over the course of the game. I also saw what looked like an "ultimate" that can only be used when the soul silk meter is full and drains the entire spool; the two examples being Hornet's 3 mask heal and the gosmer storm.
I'm guessing the starting loadout is what she had in the original game; gosmer storm as the ultimate, caltrops in the tool slot. I'm presuming down+B is going to be parry, neutral B throws out caltrops, L/R+B is needle toss, and maybe the ultimate is activated by double tapping B?
Looks like her charm loadout (listed as Wanderer for the Hornet mask, possibly with Weaver for the Herrah-style mask) allows for three charms in three colors, one of which is the exploding grenade she uses in the clip right after, and another of which is the growing, spinning blade wheel shown later. So that's probably going to be activateable, offensive items like the grenade, wheel, and maybe her floating caltrop bombs.
The other two are probably like... passive or always-on abilities, maybe? I can't see them doing anything like tying the double jump to a charm since that would gimp Hornet's power progression compared to Ghost's or mandate swapping almost constantly.
It's been fun.Kinda like the Castlevania Chronicles Of Sorrow games and how the soul loadout works?

So that Red Clothed Bug boss (some people are saying she is a fire ant lady but not quite sure) and some of the NP Cs of the trailer are getting popular with fan artists.

It looks like Hornet can have different Crests that allow for different loadouts. The wanderer's crest allows for a red, a blue and a yellow tool, but presumably there will be crests that allows for three red ones, or two blue and a yellow one. You will most likely collect new crests as you go through the game, similar to how you collected new Notches in the first game.
I wonder how tough the timing on parries are going to be; unlike Dark Souls you don't get a free Critical Hit from it, but since it lets you completely negate damage it's surely going to have its limits.
Another issue is the question of which enemies will be parryable, and how the game will communicate that to you. In Souls the rule is generally less than twice your height and carrying a weapon.

This isn't dark souls though. They seem to be going for a more unique feel, which I'm down with.
Warrior to the very end! My tumblr, dood!
