(I look back at the the creature I thought I saw in the woods. It seems to be stirring at the sound of the Spearow flying away)

Guys...I think we need to get out of here!

"Alright, well let's think a bit! Spearows usually hunt in packs canonically, but we found out that this isn't the main series canon, right? We should be fine!"

Finley's trying to hide it, but he's pretty spooked.

"Now that you mention it... Morbitesse did gift us with mental maps, to prevent this exact situation from happening."

Those who now recall the map will view their surroundings in a new, but no less confusing light. Some of this vegetation does match the map, but then some doesn't... not quite, at least. Trees aren't exactly where they should be; branches spread out in directions they shouldn't; bushes crowd where there should be open space. Almost as if pieces of the forest have been covertly re-arranged.

I float over to one of the "off" bushes, and then dip my head right into it. I retract it a moment after, and turn back to the group.

"This seems solid enough to not be a simple illusion. Perhaps... the information Morbitesse gave us was outdated? I struggle to think of another reason why the map would only be somewhat accurate. Maybe if there was a Pokémon powerful enough to move the surroundings..."

The sharp movement gives Goobert a better sense of the creature's shape: tall, spindly maybe, hard to distinguish from the trees around it. Staring a little longer, Goobert can also make out one more detail about the creature- following the Spearow's path, before refocusing on the party's position, is its single, red eye.

"...or control the plantlife. It wouldn't surprise me if there was one capable of such a feat."

(desperately trying to remember what Pokémon looks like this one I can see, I find myself instinctively putting my antennae in front of myself, as though I'm preparing to protect myself. I barely even notice.)

Guys, can we take a moment to notice this fella staring right at us real quick? I don't now if he's going to wind up as friendly as the Pokémon we just met...

(I point toward that big red eye)

"Wait, where are we now? I thought we were going back to the town..."

"Come to think of it, do we even know the way back? I mean, the town is always hidden, and—"

> Oz sees the big red eye beneath the vegetation.

"Uh..."

*Gets a safe distance away from the red eye, staring at it.*

The eye stares back at the group- and then starts glowing a deep red. Perhaps it's the instincts that come with being a Pokémon, or perhaps it's an effect from this creature, but those watching it will be able to sense its anger, almost radiating off of its body.

Suddenly it moves, its many legs stomping across the forest floor. It's quick, but also appears sensitive to its surroundings- stepping around the flora, and dipping under branches. It pauses, ducks, and then leaps right over the bush, landing with a hefty whoomf! to one side of the group.

Now that it's in the light, you can make it out clearly- nearly 5 feet tall, six giant roots for legs, horns and leaves for hair, and a single blazing eye peering out from beneath the bark. An amalgamation of shadow and wood.

A wild Trevenant appeared!

The cyclopean eye sweeps across the group. With one gnarled pincer it points towards them- more specifically, at where Nyquil is standing.

"YOU!"

The rumbling, furious contralto seems to shake the very ground itself. Shadows swoop up and encase the pincer in a dark aura, which solidifies into a claw. With a mighty roar the Trevenant swipes the shadow claw down towards Nyquil, and any others from the group unfortunate enough to be standing near him.

I fall back from the impact.
"Okay, wait. Hold on a second!" I say. "Who are you? And why did you suddenly attack us, apart from the fact that we probably approached your hiding place or something?"

"WHAT THE FUCK?!"

Finley immediately jumps towards Nyquil and pulls him as far out of the way as he can.

"WHAT THE FUCK?!"

*Was fortunately a good distance away from Trevenant.*

"Woah!"

> Oz leaps back to avoid the Trevenant's attack, only to fall back and stumble into the ground. He soon gets back up.

"Wait, what? Nyquil?"

> Then Oz remembers Nyq saying they've smashed trees with their head before meeting us.

"...nike."

Finally, a real fight.

I get ready to use Tri attack.

"Come at me bro!"

   *I raise my head, which faintly glows browny-red as I prepare a move.*   

To Trevenant: Bring yourself to reason before we rip you apart!
To Wrench: I don't think Tri Attack would work on that.

"Ok then..."

   Wrench decides to use Psychic instead.   

"Woah, woah, woah! Guys, how about we not fight each other? How about we... I don't know, talk it out?"

> Oz is not the guy who would stop a fight, but he doesn't want to start a fight either.

That's what I was trying to convince it to do. Should it be that Violence is the Only Option, I can do some decent damage, I think.

The creaking sound of wood against wood sounds from the Trevenant's body as she tenses, her eye flickering from Luisa, to J, and then settling on Oz.

"You would ask me to seek reason with you fiends who have tormented my forest?! You, who have not only toyed mercilessly with the Pokémon living here-"

She turns to glare at Nyquil again.

"-but have attacked the very land itself?! A CURSE UPON YOU ALL!"

The red glow of her eye gives way to a bright yellow light, which gently floats out and towards J. He will find himself entranced with the light, as it hovers this way and that. Beautiful, warm, moving faster and faster, its movements searing into his mind, leaving him dizzy and disorientated.

J is now confused.

She turns to Wrench next, observing his movements warily.

I watch all of this happening from the sidelines, unable as I am to attack the Trevenant with my current moveset.

"...I don't believe any of us have done anything to the forest's inhabitants. This Trevenant may have us confused with another group. Partly, at least."

   *I am confused.*   
Guys, what am I... Argh! Focus!
   *However, I refrain from attacking myself long enough to charge at the Trevenant using Head Smash... and miss.*   

i never said anyone else had to use evil text for combat
And Another Thing... does anyone think i should swap Head Smash out of J's moveset? i'm just concerned that despite it being Cast from Hit Points, people still think it might be a Game-Breaker.

Just in case Trevenant turns on him, Finley begins mentally preparing for Ember attack.

Finley's mouth begins heating up, rapidly growing in temperature.

dangit, the things you miss when you are forced to go to bed...

(standing frozen is shock as all of this is happening, still in a defensive stance, I finally feel that I have no other choice but to fight back, especially since this Trevenant is serious about hurting us. I decide to attempt to talk the Trevenant down)

Stop it! (I sharply tell the Trevenant) We're just lost and haven't done a thing! You're hurting us for no reason!

(before I realize it, a sudden purple blast shoots from my mouth toward the Trevanant, to my shock. I didn't even realize I did that)

[I back away from [the Treverant] and the ensuing fight, watching unnerved as J throws himself wildly at the forestal foe. I had a feeling we wouldn't get out of these woods so easily...and as I can probably tell with the others, I don't think I'm able to fight as is.]

[...wait, can't I... Keeping my distance from our assailant and strafing slowly through the clearing to get a better angle of attack, the taste of paint wells up in my mouth. I grip my tail as well, waiting for our opponent to make another, hopefully more useful move.]

(This situation's looking pretty sour... I'd really rather not fight, considering A. I don't wanna hurt anyone, and B. I don't even know what moves I can perform. Actually, hold on, that last one might be a lie. Just gotta figure out what is was I did before...)

*Keeping my distance, I hold my arms out towards the angered Trevenant and try focusing.*

(Fairy Wind, that's what I did before, right? Hope I'm doing it right...)

*As before, I can feel a breeze blowing past me from behind, and a sparkling gust shoots toward the Trevenant.*

(Yep, think I'm doing it right. Now I just gotta say something cool... Course, if I actually say what I'm doing, that'd be kinda dumb... Embellishment time!)
