Mila pulls Autumn back slightly as she tries to assuage the Braixen's concerns, putting herself directly in front of the bawling Slurpuff in the process. It's tough to act imposing when she's literally the same height as the mon she's facing, and worse so when they're surrounded by others even taller than them, but the Raichu gives it her all.

"Look, I don't know who you think you're getting with this, but it's not me. If you want to join us, then you need to get off your high horse and stop acting like you're doing us some magnanimous favor. Or, you can not... and, well, not join us. We don't need to add being talked down to onto our list of troubles."

Misty-eyed, he looks right into Mila's eyes. His gaze is bright and puppy-like. He really does look like his world has just been crushed.

Unfortunately for the Slurpuff, this particular Raichu still has fresh memories of Jillian, Andy, Snaptooth, and a host of other mons who have attempted to make life difficult for them whether by insinuating themselves into the group or otherwise. So as a slight scowl twitches across her face, she waits patiently for him to have his fill of tears, wondering if they'll be able to get anywhere as adults afterwards. Autumn is less convinced, though seeing Mila's fast stance she doubts her own instincts to offer some compromise.

"Are you sure this is...? It's making a scene."

"And I intend to handle it better than I did with Jillian. There's no risk to us right now, with everyone here and out in public."

Maybe I feel bad for him. But, at the same time, he's just looking for pity. I seriously can't believe that a supposed world-class chef would reduce himself to mere tears like this. Not even real ones, which makes it even less believable. I groan out of ever-increasing annoyance and try once again to get him to just stop.

You...are seriously acting like a child in a store after their mother took their toy away. Is this really how you pull customers in? Because it doesn't work in the grand scheme of things, and certainly isn't going to work on me. So you can either knock it off, or we'll just leave you here.

Meanwhile, a pair of plainclothes officers (read:the normal attire for a Sawk and Throh) and their Grapploct friend observe the situation from a short distance away.

Lonnie, you couldn't be more right. We know these guys, it's not like them to just act this harshly to someone. To me, it seems like whoever this Slurpuff is, they're harassing these guys and won't relent.

The Throh and Grapploct cops approach the party but keep their distance. Based on what officers Roh and Hawk told him, Lonnie reasons that this group should probably be able to deal with their own problems without outside help.

Jean-Pierre notices the two Pokémon approach. They look tough. And unfriendly, too. Oh dear. He quickly drops the act, wipes the tears from his eyes, and smiles awkwardly.

"A-ah, bonjour monsieurs! It is quite beautiful outside today, oui?"

Roh and Hawk take positions around Lonnie and look amongst the party, specifically Benji, before turning back to Jean-Pierre. However, neither one immediately notices the newer faces now compared to when they last saw the group.

Mr. Guilford, I trust you and your friends got that whole issue with Sally taken care of? We heard what you all got up to over there with the Gorebyss...we commend you all for what you did.

The Grapploct takes position and inches closer to examine Jean-Pierre.

Right...Jean-Pierre, I take it? From outward appearances it seems you're harassing these folks. Care to explain why exactly?

That's one for the books) to weird with the arrival of the Slurpuff dude to kind of pathetic, I happen to migrate over towards Royal, really would rather engage with him than this weirdly clingy chef.] "Soooo," [I say, leaning over a little.] "how's it, uhh, been so far being here? I hope better than this for the most part..."

(Also not really wanting to get involved in the the spat between Jean-Pierre and the others as it reaches a fever pitch, Dinah likewise veers away from it, taking Lucy with her. Benji starts to go with them and Eliot as well when Roh and Hawk address him.) Oh heya, fellas! Yeah, some of the officers in Holstown, that Henry fella and his pals and I did. Sally's safe now, thank goodness.

(Benji then remembers the letter he was sent back with.) Oh, and I have an update letter from Whisperin' Pines I need to show these fellas, too. Reckon I'll give it out once this little commotion gets settled down and we're able to go to breakfast, just sayin'.

(There's an octopus Pokémon! I know I heard mention of Pokémon called Clobbopus and Grapploct, but I'm not sure which of those two that guy is. In the meantime, I can't think of any input I can give over this increasingly awkward situation and just keep mum for now.)

Safe to say the off-duty cops didn't expect this guy to relent so easily. As Roh and Hawk sigh and watch Jean-Pierre begin to turn away they turn back to address us.

Ah, yes. We would have accompanied you in your exploits to get Sally to the spring but obviously put work would've prevented us from making the trip. Unless he has something in common with you all he should simply be going back to the inn he was at and you can all go on your way.

The mention of a letter certainly piques my interest. I think to wanting to ask about the letter but I relent for now but redirect my asking as the cops turn to lead us on (and I begin to follow.)

Listen, pal, as an officer of the law I'm only going to let you off with a warning to not do that ever again, okay? And you really have to learn to not just do that, and maybe learn to be a bit more personable? I was gonna go out for some food myself, you wanna come with me? I can certainly help you.

I guess this here is better than just running around and snapping my neck back and forth in desperation to find something, hehe."

Seth has spent this whole conversation, if you could call it that, growing steadily more confused. By now, the Absol's head has tilted far enough that it looks about ready to roll off his shoulders. He says nothing, for as far as he's concerned, the earlier point about seeing no possible reason for Jean-Pierre to be so desperate to follow them still stands.

A lone Umbreon walks into an unknown world...

… This wandering must've been going on for a few days. Man, what I'd do for some food right now. I don't know how I became an Umbreon. All I remember was my older brother having an argument with our folks at home. He left and I went after him. He told me that it was about time he move on to better things— things that our hometown didn't have to offer. Still, was it selfish of me to not want him to leave?

The umbreon continues to wander...

I still remember his side smile as he gave me his headphones and hoodie. He told me it looks fresh on me. He said he loved me... and that now I'm the man of the house. I remember him taking the ferry to another region... He said see ya on the flip side. I remember... I remember I dove into the water, how stupid of me to think I catch up to a ferry... Not even riding a pokemon to surf.

Umbreon still walks...

… that sudden wave of water crashing down on me. That was the last thing I remember before I ended up here. I heard stories of people thinking they became pokemon. I remember laughing in their faces... but man Karma. If only I could find someone or something to ask where am I...? I haven't seen any hint of civilization... just forest. If only the trees could speak, I'd ask them to... wait. wait a second. I see....?!

The Umbreon spots a clearing, reavealing a city in the distance.

"Thank goodness, yo! Some civilization!" the Umbreon shouted. "I almost feel like crying!"

the Umbreon rushes to the city in a hurry. There's gotta be some place to get a grub goin on, He thought.
