Salty gives an unsure look at the Sharpedo as he pops up.
"Er, sorry, matey, besides the water types we met fleeing, you're the only one we saw..."
"Madame, I heard that the Gorebyss is at it again." A Carbink spoke.
"Ah, thank you for the update, little one." the Madame replied, "Where did attack now?"
"A place called Whispering Pines." The little one's response saddened the regal lady.
"Well then." She turned towards the docks, "Let's find one to set sail."
It seemed that the inn is barely functional.
"Is there any one in here?" I yell into the seemingly abandoned building.
Goobert? (Polly repeats.) Interestin' name for a fellow...but no, I 'aven't seen 'im. I take it 'e's someone y' know who that Gorebyss took with 'er?
(She notices that Daniel has already gone over to the inn and is shouting into it.) Looks like one of yer pals is already ready t' head inside. C'mon, we can talk more in th' inn. That's where all of us who didn't git taken by Phoebe 'ave bin stayin. Rain's pickin' up anyway and I'm sure most of yeh don't want t' just stand out 'ere gettin' wet.
(The rain is indeed beginning to pick up and there is a distant clap of thunder.)
(At the inn's front doors where Daniel currently is, a voice can be heard from inside.) Hey, Clayton, there's someone at the door! Should we let him in?
(Maran about jumps out of his skin.) BZZ! Oh, good evening, sir. Um...bzz, no, we haven't seen anybody else since we've gotten here.
Do you want to join us and look for her? (Renata asks Bruce.) Perhaps she's only in a different part of town. (Renata worries that she may not have escaped capture, however.)
Uh, Langley, how are we supposed to even get him around? (Cortez inquires.)
(Renata thinks for a moment before turning back to Bruce.) Hmm...you wouldn't happen to have some way to get around on land, would you? If you don't, perhaps Rich there can carry you or I can make room for you in my chair.
(Rich makes sure his gloves are on tight if it comes to him having to carry the Sharpedo. He's still visibly anxious about the whereabouts of Polly.)
Yes. We were informed that he got captured by her while he and a group of cursed mons went to Blissparce, and we came from Harnicara by boat to help find him.
I start to feel the rain come down and look to the others again.
Come on guys, let's just get inside.
I follow forth for a bit when a patch of dirt that seems to be moving draws closer to us...
Miss O'Hare, check windows and see if he's with anyone.
Addie bounds up to a windowsill, taking off a few boards in order to check outside and just within peripheral vision she thinks she sees a group of mons conversing with Polly and at least a few beginning to move over with her.
They certainly don't seem to be lackeys of that Gorebyss, sir.
Clayton moves to the front and speaks with Judy.
Miss O'Hare just identified a group that may be associated with him. Looks like we're safe for now so I'm gonna head out and meet them.
Clayton heads to the spot in the front entryway of the inn he uses to dig when needed and pops down into the hole. A short time later...
The very piece of dirt pops up and reveals an Excadrill. At first he gives Daniel a once-over before burrowing back in and popping up about ten yards closer to the group.
Identify yourselves and state your business! We've just gone through hell today and we don't need more trouble. I almost lost my sister to that Gorebyss and her army.
Yeah, I have a cart. Th' problem is that its currently in two pieces ovah there. Just make room fer me in yer wheelchair, miss, and grab me fins.
Bruce pulls one of his pectoral fins back above the water for anyone to grab, for which Stellan quickly does and motions for a bit of extra help to get him to Renata.

"I was just wondering if any one survived that monstrous Phoebe's attack. I bear you no ill will." I calmly state to the Excadrill.
[Never again. I won't let this foul monster roam free, destroying people's lives.]
Clayton burrows back down and pops up in between the various members of the group.
What is your actual purpose here? You don't seem like average tourists..

"Sure thing, matey."
Salty positions themselves so Bruce can hop on their back, then they can carry him to Renata
Oh, he was with a group of cursed mo- (Polly suddenly stops mid-sentence and a look of horror appears on her face.) Cursed mons?! Oh no! My Richie! Do you know if 'e's alright?
Don't worry, ma'am, he's alright. (Benji says.) Goobert was the only one of us she got, just sayin'.
Oh, thank goodness...'course, it's still bad she got any of yeh at all, though... (Polly breathes a sigh of relief and turns to face the Excadrill who just showed up.) Oh, hello, Clay'on...well, it's 'cause they're not tourists.
(Dinah, Lucy, and I climb down off the boat to speak to the locals who just showed up. It seems like they're already engaged in conversation with the others, though, so I just let them speak for now until I feel like I can contribute something.)
I'm tired, Mama... (I hear Lucy say as she and Dinah come down.)
(Renata pulls her legs and tail up to herself to make room for Bruce in her wheelchair as Stellan and Salty bring him over her way.)

Noriaki bowed to the Excadrill and responded, "We were told a friend of ours has been taken by who I presume to be the same Gorebyss you just mentioned, Phoebe. We were coming here in pursuit of her, but it seems as if she's left from what we can tell."
They aren't? Huh. And..wow...I don't recall seeing your friend as...he was before this all happened to him. As for the Gorebyss—we think she's heading onwards to the island. But...it does us no good to be out in a developing thunderstorm. Let's get you all inside and we'll talk there.
Clayton burrows back down and returns into the inn to inform the patrons of who's outside.
These guys seem to be okay enough. Let's get them in here, it's about to rain.
Clayton moves to unlock the front door, the very same door that just hours earlier he had to save the inn and it's patrons from Phoebe. After opening the door he heads back
outside to motion to the party that it's safe to come on in.
You'll be safe here. Regardless of if she comes back or this storm gets any worse.
I simply follow forth, seeing red knowing that she laid wreckage to not one, but two, towns, among the untold victims she's captured. The others, in the midst of following forth, will probably see my breath becoming shallow and my eyes deepening in red color.
Bruce is able to steady himself and get aboard the wheelchair with Renata.
Thanks for the help...now, Addie will likely have gotten ta the inn. She must be fine, because Mr. Samuels is there. He's like a father to all a' us.
As he settles in he looks over the crippled Garchomp next to him. Isn't this Renata, famous battler?
Ma'am? I think I've seen you before. You wouldn't happen ta be Renata Langley, famous battler?

Bailey is glad to be inside the inn.
"Thank you... mister. Nice place you got here.
Oh, it feels wonderful in here... (Dinah comments as they step into the warm building.)
Yeah... (The still sleepy Lucy agrees.)
(As we begin making our way into the inn, I notice a very strange look in Marlon's eyes that I haven't noticed before. Is he alright? I nudge Marsha with my tail. She looks at me with a bothered expression on her face before I motion to Marlon.)
(She finally notices his expression.) Uh, Marly? You doin' okay?
(Upon entering the inn, the party is quickly greeted by a stout Tyrantrum with a forest green ascot around her neck. She comes from behind the front desk with a sharp-toothed grin and lumbers up to the party.) Oh, hello, hello, everyone! It's so nice to meet all of you! My name's Judith, but you can call me Judy. I bet you're all cold 'cause of the rain now....c'mon, there's a warm fire in the lounge over this way! (The tone of her voice does sound very much like she's inwardly very worried but trying to keep a stiff upper lip through it all. She begins moving to the party's right, past the hallway leading to the inn rooms and toward a large lounge.)
(The inside of the inn harbors a very quiet and still atmosphere. The walls and ceiling seem to be made of wood, giving the interior the appearance of something like a log cabin, the stone floor notwithstanding. The front hallway is a fairly spacious room with the large lounge to the right of the front desk and past the hallway leading to the rooms. Wooden furniture (many with soft-looking cushions) dot the room. There is indeed a lit fireplace in the middle of the wall in the lounge.)
(There are also a number of Pokémon seated around the room as well. Among the Pokémon in this room are a Slowking quietly reading a book in a chair by the fireplace while a young Smeargle paints on the coffee table, also in front of the fireplace. A Golisopod, Shelley, sits at a table directly within sight of the party. She has a shell-shocked expression on her face and a Flygon and a Scizor, Henry and Tenn, sit quietly around her.)
(Renata chuckles.) I am indeed her! Though I haven't been able to battle for years since...well, it should be obvious. (Renata looks down at her legs and tail.)
Gosh, you guys t'gether are gonna be heavy! (June laughs.) Maybe if I... (She snaps her claws and suddenly poofs into a Machoke.) There! Let's try now! (She says, resuming pushing.)
(Seeing June take on the appearance of a Machoke reminds Sunny of Georgés.) Oh, Maran, what do you suppose has become of Monsieur Georgés? And Madamme Waters and Monsieur Hugh for zat matter?
Bzz, maybe they haven't ended up as Clamperls and have gone somewhere else? (Maran suggests.)
I hope you are right... (Sunny says anxiously.)
My eyes scan the crowd at the inn, but I see none that I know. After finding a free space, I search my bag for any thing that'll protect us against Phoebe's Clamperl-ization powers.
A lone a bigger than normal Midnight Lycanroc lays chained to a tree. Its senses begin to perk up.
"Who dare enters my lair?" It inquires to the shadowed figure.
"It is I, Jorgmunder, barring a message from... well you know, Fenrir." A Seviper answers as he come out of the shadows.
"What's the message you came to deliver?" Fenrir breathes a sigh of disappointment.
"Hel is on the move, but he's tangled up in his own crisis at this point in time." Jorg adds ominously

Addie pads her way over to Clayton and watches the mons begin to pour their way indoors. Markedly confused she looks over towards Clayton.
Uh, sir, who 're these fellas?
I'm just as confused as you, Miss O'Hare, so just let them all come in before we figure it out. They aren't just tourists, y'know.
Aye..do ya think they know where me Brucie is? I...I'm still reelin' over Suz and Brady and a'can't fathom losin' him too...
I dunno...and I'm sorry.
The two continue to watch the party pour into the inn, waiting for more members to arrive before attempting to glean information from them. Those arriving include...
Me, obviously. Once I hear my name I snap from my brief trance. What in the hell just happened to me? I...I haven't felt anything like that since...shit.
I—my brain is going a million miles an hour right now with everything that has happened. I'm feeling just...just these abject feelings I haven't felt since Hoard. The anger, the rage...I don't want it coming back again yet it feels like it's fighting its way back through. Ugh, what am I gonna do what am I gonna do—
I'm honest to god scared in this moment. Bella, and how she ultimately kicked the bucket, are not things I want to relive any time soon.
Well, it's still nice t'meetcha, Renata. Say, mind tellin' me why you and the lot of yah decided t'come to our small town? It's obviously not in the best a'shapes right now.

Rex feels quite at home in the cozy atmosphere of the inn, but he notices that everyone appears to look worried.
"Hi, everyone," he says. "We just arrived in town a little while ago... what exactly happened here? We heard that the place was attacked..."
(As I walked inside, I saw that we weren't the only occupants, besides the owners. All sorts of Pokemon are sitting around near the fireplace, and not one of them a Clamperl. Yet, a question was resting in my mind, stemming from what we saw earlier. I looked at the owners and asked them.) How come this place is untouched while the rest of the town ended up like... this?
Well, we had to clean things up in a hurry so we could have people stay here. (Judy explains to Grigori.) It was a lot messier earlier today, believe me, and we're still tidying up a few of our inn rooms. We actually had to throw out a lot of the furniture in the lounge. But don't worry, there should still be enough rooms for all of you! Some of them just might have cots instead of just normal beds in them, I'm afraid...
That crazy Gorebyss blew through 'ere like a bloomin' tidal wave. (Polly explains to Rex.) Stole things left 'n right...'cludin' some of the townsfolk, usin' that blasted magic serum of her's t' turn 'em int' her minions....'ncludin' my two siblin's Cree 'n Radar...couldn't get t' them in time... (Polly hangs her head sadly.)
(I suck in my breath upon hearing this. I can't imagine how Rich's wife must have felt when she realized that she lost them...probably a lot like me when I realized that I lost Goobert...) I'm so sorry...
Marly, Marly, yo! Calm down! (Marsha shouts as Marlon. She takes the end of his scarf and brings his face down level to hers.) Marly, just RELAX, okay? If ya feel like yas are gonna lose control, just think relaxin' thoughts or talk ta me, Mila, Nori, or someone else or somethin', alright?
(Marsha gives Marlon a quick peck on the forehead.) That time with psycho crazy Belladonna isn't gonna happen again, 'n all of us and you are gonna make sure it doesn't, okay?
(Meanwhile, Henry's antennae twitch upon hearing Grigori's voice and he turns to look in the party's direction. He recognizes several of their faces and perks up a bit. He excuses himself from the table he is sitting at and goes over to meet them.)
Hello there, friends! You probably don't recognize me by now, but a lot has happened since I last saw you all in Slak Rock, as you can probably see... (He says as he walks over, standing up straight with his claws on his hips when he stops.)
Well, originally we were all going to Danjor Island because most of the Pokémon here want to be rid of their curses. (Renata explains.) Then my daughter's partner ended up taken by Phoebe, and now we're also trying to save him and whoever else.
(By now, the inn has gotten within the group's view, and along with it the faint light from within it.)

Bailey is blissful feeling the warmth of the fire, but feels guilt when he hears Polly. "I'm so sorry... I'd love to help any way I can. Rex and I just learned some attacks at a gym..."
"Oh, no..." says Rex when he hears that Polly's siblings have been captured. "That's... that's awful. I'd like to help save them, too..."
Salty thinks for a bit as the group talks about Tyrell, they remembered seeing him before the Clamperl showed up, and that suit, hrm... They...
And here's the inn, guess that'd be thoughts for later.
"We ready t'check inside then?"
"What kind of crisis do you... And he's gone again" Fenrir states as he realizes that Jorg left a soon as the snake came, "Blasted chains..."
Fenrir sniffs the air and smells metal.
"Who dare enters my lair?"
An Aegislash accompanied by a Gallade and a Noctowl, "I hath come slay thy wretched beast."
After a fruitless search, I headed over to one of the 'mon that lost ones they cared about, "Pardon me for asking how exactly did Phoebe attack?"
Mila remains relatively quiet as they approach the inn, listening to the conversations going on around her and trying to pay attention to the more important information. Still, there's a feeling of loneliness that she can't shake. The weather and general disarray only serves to exacerbate this. Eventually, a thought comes to her: with their current situation, if they're going to go up against a mass of Clamperl like she's heard described, then she needs to keep practicing the things she learned from Reimi. If she can manage to control her Discharges, it would be invaluable to controlling the combat without hurting anyone who'd been turned.
"I'll... be outside if anyone needs me. I won't be far, just practicing."
Retreating to the door, Mila looks over to the others and makes a simple comment before moving back outside into the downpour. In a way, the rain is almost a welcome sight; bringing her back to memories of her home and its penchant for constant drizzle. The feeling of it slicking down her fur is new, though, and it takes her a moment to get used to the sensation. Pushing away the distractions, Mila starts to build up a charge like she'd practiced the day before. The humidity makes it difficult to keep in, but after a moment she manages to fire out a staticky Electro Ball, watching it flicker before exploding into a wave of sparks on a ruined brick wall. Still prepared to attack, Mila attempts to form another, repeating the action a few more times until she feels her stored energy completely drained. Each orb is slightly smaller than the one before, until she's barely shooting out more than single sparks.
The smaller ones are easier to control... but they don't seem to do as much. I can do more of them faster, but is that still worth it? How can I handle so many mons at once?
Marsha pulling me to her eye level and giving me that kiss was certainly more than enough to knock me from this brief moment of losing it. Wasn't expected at all, though, but that is a good thing. I loosen up a bit and look back down at her.
You're right. I won't let that happen again. As long as you guys have my back I'll keep myself upright. Especially you, Marsh, I love you too much to really let myself go down that path again. Alright, let's see what they gotta say since they're about to talk.
As I say this a Flygon marches forward towards us; I do look in his general direction but say nothing since I can't put an immediate finger on who he is.
Addie pads her way to the center of the room and addresses everyone, including the newest mons to arrive.
Right, eh...nice t'meetchas, I'm Addie, the head of all the tourism 'round here. Thanks to my pal Clayton 'ere we got everyone int' this inn and tried t'lock it down...but not even that worked. Now...Polly n'Clayton 'ere said that the lot of yeh weren't average tourists...care tah explain why that would be?
Oooh...wow. That's a lot of thungs that just had to go wrong, innit?
Bruce sees the light of the inn just within peripheral vision and quickly points this out.
There! If Addie made it through—she's almost certainly gotta be there.
Edited by Team42Larson on Aug 30th 2019 at 9:05:47 AM
(So even that was hit, and yet they're not killed or converted by her. While I was mulling over the fact, I heard someone calling out to us. At first, when one of the guests, a Flygon, came up to us acting all chummy, I felt a little suspicious. That is until he mentioned Slak Rock.) Looks like you took my advice. A shame you went from a sinking ship to one that's nearly at the ocean floor. So, what brings you here?
Bailey feels a little intimidated by Addie's question.
"Well, uh... we're not really from this world at all, if that's what you mean... He," Bailey points to Rex, "and I are especially new, so for the most part we're just tagging along with the others..."
