(I passed the rest of the money to the cashier and he nodded to our group.) Alright, that'll cover it. Thanks for stopping by!
(I grabbed the bag of food and made my way out. A little on the heavy side, but hopefully it'll last us the trip.)
As the others file into the cafe (and I feel the urge to follow), I happen to spot a familiar Riolu who in turn seems to be looking for me. Naturally, I gravitate towards her, looking between the few still outside before beginning to speak.
"Lucy," I greet her. I don't have much to say, but hers is a comforting presence where few can be found.
With the food procured I follow Grigs back outside, and make a generalized statement to make our presence known.
We should be set food-wise now.

(After I left the café, I spoke to the group.) Alright, we've got some food for the trip. Do we need anything else?
I don't think so. (At least I don't think so...wait a minute, how are we all going to get to Whispering Pines without a boat?) Wait, we need to find a boat that'll take us there.
Wait, how did ya get heres wit' outta boat? (Marsha asks.)
We just flew here while...the others took the boat... (I bring a claw to my face.) Ohhh, I didn't think this through...
No, no ya didn't... (Oh, thanks for making me feel better about this, Marsha...) Well, guess we can go down to the docks 'n see if there's any boats headin' ta Whisperin' Pines.
Eliot! (Lucy greets the Smeargle.) Eliot, we went t' Denalsi and th' craziest things happened! Papa 'n I hung out in Gleamscape 'n saw a magic show, and then I learned t' swim and then I had t' be disguised as somethin' else 'cause-
Lucy, Lucy, slow down! (Dinah says, coming up behind Lucy.)
Oh, sorry... (Lucy says. She turns back to Eliot and continues, more slowly this time.) ...Then we went back 't Blissparce and things got scary. Now we're back here...
(Dinah is very worried about how Eliot might react to this given all that he's been through these past few days.)

"That seems like the best course of action for now", said Noriaki, nodding in agreement, "Hopefully there is a respectable boat available right away."
The prospects of finding a boat is fun and all, but what if we just don't have one available?
What if there isn't one? Would that Wailord girl we met once be around here somewhere?
I casually glance over towards Lucy coming after Eliot; before doing anything else I lean over and whisper toward Marsha.
Marsh, does Lucy have any idea about what's happened to Eliot?
That'd be one heck of a coincidence. For all we know, she's halfway ta Whisperin' Pines herself at this point. (Marsha remarks.) There hasta be SOMEBODY who'd be willin' ta cart us out there, t'ough.
(She notices Lucy excitedly chattering to Eliot while Dinah looks worried.) Uh...dunno.
(Oh, I hope Marsha's right...why did I not have a back-up plan for getting everyone out there? Gosh, why don't I ever think?? Now we're wasting valuable time we could be using to go after Goobert and it's all on me...)
(I simply stand where I am, still with a claw to my face.)
(With that question in mind, I responded to Marlon and Marsha.) Unless there's someone with a ship big enough for all of us is conveniently nearby, we'll only know if we go down and check.
"I know a guy, but he may be at sea. Or in a different town right now." I comment to the group trying to help.
Autumn holds Niles close to herself, both to ease the load of carrying him all the way back and to try to heat him up after learning from Mila about his burn out in training the day prior. Even though she knows it's not due to an actual fight, something about it still makes her feel sick. A sideways glance from the Raichu next to her catches her attention, as does a paw around her shoulder from the same mon.
"Is there something we should talk about? I— I don't want us to miscommunicate again. Not like last time."
Autumn stares down to the Quilava she's carrying, wondering if it'd be right for him to hear. But if she's going to do what she would like to, he'd have to know anyways. Maybe not the rest, though.
"... Promise you won't freak out?"
"I'll try not to. I should be better about... I'll try not to."
Mila's tail flicks back and forth before she shoves it into the ground, and her gaze shoots between Autumn, Niles, and the others up ahead. She can feel the silence beating down, even as it's only a few seconds for Autumn to collect her thoughts. Not knowing hurts, but she knows that finding out won't help either.
"... I can't stay here. With everyone. The fighting, the arguing, the... it's too much. I don't fit."
"It's true. Besides you and Niles, who really wants me around?"
Mila knows in the back of her mind that what the Braixen is proposing may be the best for her, but she can't stop herself from trying to wrap the princess in a hug, and trying to reassure her or change her mind somehow.
"Does it matter? I want you around, Autumn."
"Then come back with me. Let them have their danger, their fights, their bickering. We're not even helping with the VA any more..."
Mila holds on tighter at this point, stopping Autumn in her tracks as the party moves on ahead and the two of them along with their resting companion are left standing in the woods in silence. In Mila's grip, Autumn can feel her shivering slightly even as a warm breeze passes them by.
"Please don't... please don't make me choose, sweetheart."
"I... I'm sorry. I had to, too..."
Still behind her, Mila digs her paws into Autumn's chest fluff and drops her chin onto the Braixen's shoulder, feeling her weight grow heavier as she fights to find the courage to make a choice, either choice. She can feel Autumn's head rest up against hers, but somehow it just makes her feel even lonelier.
"You'd... you'd wait for me, right? An-and write?"
"If you're... if you're away, always. But Mila, please... you don't have to..."
"... Autumn, I... I don't want to, but I can protect them— I don't know why, but I have to. I need to ma... make it safe for them. Safe for you, even if you don't come back."
Autumn feels Mila nuzzling her head into her neck, and moments later catches a bit of wetness on her fur where the Raichu's eyes had been moments earlier. Even though her mind had been made up, the Braixen once again finds herself grasping at straws to find a better solution. But nothing comes, and both of them know it. This was never going to be so easy.
"I'll write, but you'd better come and visit."
"Of course, Autumn... I'll make sure Foxfell is where they come to rest."
"I need to show you that I can keep them safe..."
"I hope you can..."
Slowly, silently, and alone, Mila returns to the group from the direction of Foxfell's castle, standing to the side as she watches them talk and tries to listen to their conversations. The tears have passed by now, and there's a numb loneliness that she hadn't felt the last time she'd been away from Autumn. At least back then she knew they were just one make-up away from each other.

Mila doesn't say anything once Niles speaks up, biding her time and relying more and more on Autumn to prop herself up. She doesn't want to think about losing two people at once, and she manages to distract herself when her paws catch on Autumn's pendant around her neck. Mila looks down to her own bracelet, half-forgotten in the time since as she plays with the two crescent moons and tries to see if she can slot them together. If only she could do this forever, and forget about the coming time that she'd be apart from them.
"I... I would love to have you stay with me, Niles. I think Mila would too, but it's your choice to make."
Edited by shrubBird on Aug 19th 2019 at 1:52:32 PM
Hearing Nyquil speak to her, Mila lets go of the pieces of jewelry and frees them to bounce against each other before landing back in Autumn's fur. Though the Braixen is still within her embrace, Mila can't tell what she's doing at the moment. Really, Mila's realizing that everything's feeling slightly duller than before.
"... What is it, Niles?"
Well, this is now what I officially call, a problem. Needing an immediate ride to the place, where Benji's boat is currently in the hands (paws? I always forget to make this distinction) of the cursed mons group, gotta think gotta think, and gotta think fast.
Yeah, I think the only thing we can do is head for the docks and see what's there waiting for us.
Richard and Mac, who clearly look like they've been in the middle of a brief, yet perhaps one of the scariest encounters they have ever been in, walk the streets and close in on the party.
Arcsdamn, Mac, did you think a Ghost could ever actually do that?
Def'nitely not, Richie. But at least those kids got their pendant back, eh? Say, ar'nt those the mons ye have been lookin' for?
Yep—wait, yes, yes they definitely are.
The Pom-Pom Oricorio and his Emploeon assistant speed up their pace and arrive.
I was wondering where you all had been! We were trying to get information on what happened up at the Manor when we wound up getting beaten down by these Scrafty sisters..
While Richard speaks with the group Mac diverts toward the lonely Raichu. Wasn't she always with someone, he thought.
Lass...are ye alright?

I simply nod, stewing a little over Goobert's absence. It feels strange seeing the lynchpin of his own little gaggle missing. It feels...
"You're not going with the others, are you," I ask. "I would, but...I'm not in the state to."

Salty hears what Stellan says about his father.
"Well, sounds like y'defintely got some stuff to work out in regards to that... good luck, matey. Sorry t'hear about that. But at least y'got a plan too."
"I should be ready to move us there, yup." Salty says with a nod but looks at the other mons who warned all of them about Phoebe on the island. "Thanks for warning us. Could any of ye use anything or ye just tryin' t'get away still?"
Push comes tuh shove, I could always just turn myself into a Wailord and y'all can just ride on me over there, just sayin'. (Benji offers.)
Let's just hurry up and go see if we can find anything. We're not going to find anything if we just stand here talking about what we might ride. (I say, turning and starting to walk toward the beach.)
(Lucy looks disconcerted, not to mention confused, to hear that Eliot may not be going with them to Whispering Pines. This doesn't seem like Eliot to her at all.) You aren't coming with us...? Why?
(At the docks, things are fairly busy as Pokémon of various species are either cleaning up, repairing, or preparing to set out on their boats. Among the boats at the docks is a boat with a symbol, the Guild's symbol, painted on the hull. It is, of course, the boat Richard and Hudson arrived on. It's not an especially large boat, but it looks big enough to carry the current party with enough room to spare.)
(Even if the party doesn't choose to depart on this particular boat, it does appear that there are plenty of options to sail out to Whispering Pines on.)
Oh, don't worry about us. (The Kingdra says to the crew.) We have enough to last us a while while we wait everything out at the lagoon over there.
(After a moment, the Dragalge speaks up.) If you wouldn't mind...would you see if there is a Clamperl among her clan that answers to Sally Aonuma? She's...she's our daughter, and we think she might have been taken by Phoebe. The timing of her disappearance and one of Phoebe's more...publicized attacks is just...too perfect... (His voice gets shaky and he looks increasingly miserable as he finishes speaking. His wife gently nuzzles him.)

Richard spots his boat with quick ease. He flaps over towards it and perches upon it. Although he knowable he's gonna stay on Harnicara for the next several days to acquire whatever info he can on what happened, he's not exactly immediately sure why the party would (possibly) want his boat. He didn't hear anything else before he and Mac arrived, obviously.
Yep, here is our boat. Ain't she looking nice? Why would you all need a boat anyway?
Sir, there's quite a story behind why we need a boat..
I glance behind me to see if any of the others would fill Richard in.
We will, sir...I'll personally guarantee we rescue your daughter.

"Sally Aonuma... okay, will keep an ear out for that name. We'll make sure y'get er back." Salty replies with a smile and a nod.
"Alright, then, wish ye luck and we're gonna head off now. See ye when we find er and get this whole thing settled."
(I replied to the Oricorio.) One of our own fell prey to a Gorebyss raider and we have to get him back. In order to do so, we need your boat since she is headed to Whispering Pines and who knows where else.
Richard's expression drops to one of shock. He and Mac had been made well aware of who this Gorebyss was and yet to see one of the group they'd come (Richard mostly) to know get captured by her is horrifying, to say the least.
Wow...we've been doing just as much diligence on her as some of our compatriots but to see her capture one of your own, that's bad. We will let you use our boat...we just need it back in one piece. Do you guys have someone among you that can drive a boat efficiently?
"I'll go with you guys, too," says Rex, having followed the others to the dock. "I want to help save your friend."
