Follow TV Tropes
Dang... (Marsha breathes as Claude rushes in.)
(It's when Marlon points it out that I notice the drawing on Eliot's leg as well. Was he able to properly Sketch whatever move he was trying to use from drawing there?)
Mila follows Woodruff through the opening he managed to create with the fury swipes, moving to the side as she falls through so as not to land on him. Koss doesn't have the same worries as he can simply float through, but he does land beside Woodruff and put his paw on the Furret's head.
"Ya know that ain't good fer ya long term, right? Ya gotta keep that head a' yers safe! Now, where are we goin'?"
On that mark, Mila starts to examine the location they've gotten themselves into, trying to figure out where they are and where they should get going.
With everyone making arguments one way or another, Autumn feels incredibly lost and superfluous for the moment. She moves over towards Eliot anyways, though she doesn't speak further. Instead, she does her best to listen to the conversations going on and find something, anything to help. What in the world is going on with Eliot? ... And is Marlon the best choice to talk him through this?
[Arthur's Last Stand]
Claude's blow made Arthur fall backwards.
The energy from the Golurk's body ignites in reaction to his impact against the front door, creating an explosion that blows an entire chunk of the front wall, along with the locked door, to pieces.
When the smoke from the explosion clears, there is a big, gaping hole where the door once stood, and scraps of what's left of Arthur's upper body in shambles lying near the opening he created.
Looking through the gaping hole, there was a long hall with fanciful carpeting and decorations on the walls, with a few doors.
"Did... Did I lose?", the crumbling relic breathed out, his eyes all but entirely blacked out.
Entering the opening made by Woodruff would lead to an incredibly dark room(?).
Depending on where they land, there would be felt two long platforms on the sides of the rectangular room, or they may first stumble upon the large body of water that seems to be running through the middle.
"... After failing a tough battle, I ended up washing up on the shore near this here manor", Zelgius explained to Eliot and Gene, "Probably would've been left for dead there too, if she hadn't come down and found me. She took interest in me, why, I dunno, but she let me in her place to rest and recover, she even patched me up for a while too. And this Aerodactylite— it was a gift from her. She sent that Noctowl to go get it for me, not even for anything I did for her yet, just as a friendly gesture to me for no reason. But looking over things, I'm getting the feeling it was just another tactic for her big plan, to get on my good side... All these things were... I have this idea that it would be kind of not right to pay someone back for all that. Not like I have anywhere to go back to anymore, after I showed how much of a failure I am..."
The Crobat is launched back by the Psychic, but quickly flips forward and unleashed a loud Screech.
Hector finishes pummeling the confused Golbat and throws it over to where Achilles was fighting the other one, who proceeds to clothesline spin both of them with Aerial Ace and launch them in to the roof below.
As Dodie's vines ensare around her and Jyut comes in... Yukari grins somewhat maliciously and steals a glance at the sunny day put in place.
One of her sickles begins glowing and forms a massive blade of light that she cleaves in an upward motion to get both the vines and Jyut away from her. Solar Blade
"I certainly did run away", she said in a conceded tone to Dodie, " And my family? What must they think? Don't know, don't care. They probably don't care anyway."
The Lurantis's legs are caught in the Ice Beam, freezing them for the time being but clearly going to melt more quickly due to the Sunny Day. She glares at Kevin.
"And why should any of those matter to me?", she said to the Blastoise, "They never looked to me or treated me as a princess, though by all definitions I was. But no, my sister hatched and she was SUCH a special little Formantis that I had nothing in birthright and I was always just her boring older sister. Screw you, sea child."
From her position, Yukari gave off another Solar Blade, but this time in a wide, horizontal swinging motion.
Nephenee ducked under this and threw forward a handful of Toxic Spikes.
Gerome Protected against the Solar Blade and squinted his eyes as he observed the other enemies.
The Maractis was reeling from the Sludge Bomb, but quickly went back to Quiver Dancing. It seemed very insistent on that.
The Victreebel growled and tried to swallow Arsene.
The Bellossom was staying to the back of her battalion and keeping and eye on the Sunn day she set up.
That's it then , the Nidoking thought to himself and prepared a Toxic at the tip of his horn...
Once the air is finally clear, Whitney comes out of cover and approaches the Golurk carefully. "Yeah, man. Ya did good! Better luck next time, right?" She stops. "Well, there probably won't be a next time. But hey, just save it for the next fight."
... If there is a next fight for this guy.
"... S-So, uhm, take it easy, alright?"
Uh, yeahs.... (Marsha says to Arthur (prompting an odd look from Cole). She rubs her head as she looks on at the downed Golurk.) Dang...
I see that you have not lost your sense of honor, Zelgius... (Gene says.) And it's not true that you have nowhere else to come back to. You still have Cole, Dodie, Mouse, and I. Right now, Cole, Dodie, and I are traversing the islands looking for a new job after we were terminated from our previous ones. I'm not sure where Mouse is, but I hope she's doing well wherever she is...but I digress, what I am saying is that you could simply join us on our journey and forget about all of this.
(I feel a bit useless not saying anything to Zelgius, but I'm not even sure what I could say to him right now anyway. I try to think of something.)
(Dodie loses her grip on Yukari and curses under her breath. She tries to grab her again but fails.)
(Noticing the Sunny Day however, Dodie realizes that she can use this to her own advantage. She focuses her attention to the Bellossom and tries to incapacitate them with a Vine Whip.)

(From the smoke, the Aegislash still stood, but he sinks downwards, the adrenaline starting to wind down. He still kept his eye on the Golurk, his expression turning solemn. Rising his hilt, he replied to the fallen Golurk.) What's important is not what you have lost, but what you have gained. Indeed you have lost this battle, but you have gained so much more. Rest easy, Arthur. (The Aegislash reached for the sword and bowed his head.) May the world and its creator remember and embrace you.
(Upon seeing the knight still alive, Zelda's breath returned to her. The vine around her loosened as well, its owner also felt relief. Zelda floated towards Claude, her voice mixed with sadness and anger.) You... You idiot! Do you realize what could have happened!? (The Aegislash didn't respond, with her looking at the defeated Golurk. Her voice softened, but still kept her emotion.) You know I can't lose you again. I just can't stand it.
(He looked to the ward and bowed his head.) I know. I'm sorry.
(Eliza looked towards the hole the Golurk made, and then to the giant. A fallen, defeated soldier, she almost sensed some familiarity. A thought crossed her mind, how the old man felt like an uncle to her. A father when she was away from hers. She shook her head at the thought, but looking at the two gave her some perspective.)
(With all that in mind, I responded to the Aerodactyl.) It's not too late to change. These people still treat you like a person and not as a commodity. Maybe you'll find something out there worth fighting for. Lord knows I'm trying. (I noticed my slip, but I don't care at this point. After the last few days, I could hardly care less anymore. After all this, I'll finally confess to her. I just hope it's not too late.)
(In response to the Maractus' insistent dancing, Arsene prepared another Sludge Bomb until the Victreebel charged straight at him. The stream of poison blasted directly into its mouth, intending to punch through its insides. If it dies, it dies, he thought.)
He managed to blast away the Crobat. But then it started Screeching.
Agh!!! , I tried to cover my ears, with a moan of pain.
But then I realized I had no visible ears.
I gritted my teeth. Now my Defense was lowered.
I need to try to immobilize it.
With a Psychic, I tried to plant to the Crobat on the floor, and possibly plant its wings with even more force.
Dana breathes a sigh of relief and steps forward. One step closer to their goal...
"Oh, you had nothing in birthright huh?" Jyut narrowly dodges the two Solar Blades, the two attacks leaving long but shallow cuts on her body. A burst of dark energy erupts from Jyut in a wave, and might make it hard for Yukari to see.

But you can still show yourself as a hero, but to people who actually care for you and don't just see you as one pawn in some grand master plan. You don't have to stay with us if you want to fight this fight against her, but after that, own old friends would still take you back in. You clearly have your own free will, much like Montresor and Notte. They're now fighting for the very thing they believe in, with us, and they come off as being much better people for it. You could do the same, but again, I'm not pressuring you to stay with us. You can make your own story.
Kevin can't help but laugh. And laugh he does, dodging the Solar Blade along the way. With an extra spark of defending his turf he responds back at Yukari.
...Sea Child? Lady, you're really gonna attempt to call me nothing more than just some inbred water mon? You're messing with the pride of Silversand right now, lemme tell you what!
Kevin tucks in and bull rushes Yukari with a Skull Bash.
[As the others respond to Zelgius in my stead, the new kid...guy...I think, comes back over towards us, just as Dinah and Autumn are starting to crowd around me.] "Hey," [I whisper to the bow-wielding Snivy,] "wh, what's your name?"
[...] cough [I clear my throat and swallow...what was that?]
Luckily, they land on the platform...the grimy, grimy platform...let's just say putting the grating there wasn't a very good idea architecturally speaking.
"Whoa..." Rubbing the sore spot on his head, Woodruff finds himself looking over the pool of water to his immediate left. Wiping off the grime from his stomach and bag, he looks over towards Koss and Mila. "You two alright? We gotta get goin' here."
Autumn's attention flickers back towards Eliot as he seems to struggle with something caught in his throat. At least it seems to just be a passing event, and not the horror of the first day back in Orichalcum. Still, she can't think of anything to do to help him right now, and they're not making progress either way. Just standing here, wasting time while everyone else is in danger. What is Mila doing? Is she alright?
"So are you going to stop us or not? I can't imagine you care for anything I have to offer you, but... if a leader isn't kind then don't follow them no matter how much they try to offer you. I learned as much from my parents, from where Foxfell came from. Then again, who's listening to me any more?"
"Yeah, I'm alright. What about you, though?"
While Mila goes over to examine Woodruff, finding herself worrying about any cuts he might have sustained from his entry into the manor, Koss creates a small Electro Ball that he holds in hand to light up the room, and starts floating towards any doorways he can find. As he approaches, he attempts to reach out with his mind to try to find any psychic signatures they'd need to avoid on their way deeper in.
This guy, he seems kind of sick?
...Did I blank out again and miss something? This guy may be hurt bad.
[L'Arachel's Manor: Front]
"I am... Grateful that I was able to meet you. You are twice the knight I ever was", Arthur wheezed, "I only now can see my mistakes... But for once, I can look to the future as well... The ghosts of Old Eluant... They will learn to live without me. Perhaps that is for the best. Most would wallow in the sadness of their mistake, but I can only be happy that it was through my own actions that they will see better prosperity in a roundabout path... But I should have been happy to accompany them for that future in the first place... Ah, Theodore, I should have listened to you..."
Noriaki solemnly looked to the collapsed automaton Pokemon, noticing a familiar one-eyed figured watching from the distance as well.
The Dusclops gestured one finger over his mouth to tell the others to not let Arthur know he is there.
The old guardian could not help but chuckle at Whitney's well-meant words.
"Take it easy... Yes, I do believe you could say that is exactly what I am going to do now. It was not just that fine knight that defeated me, keep in mind. All of you had a sense of unity I had long forgotten... So long as you have that... Well, I suppose that Vespiquen's idea and view on this world are entirely wrong, then. I have what I had lost, I can go meet The Original One with no regrets."
It is hard to say how one can tell if a Golurk is smiling, but something about the last spark of life in his eyes before going completely black gave that sense, before his body crumbled more and slumped back. The remnants of the energy from his core blew away as dust in the wind.
Noriaki's red eyes were somewhat wistful as he slowly reached a wing out at the air, as if reaching towards someone leaving, but he brought his wing back down.
Montresor came back down as Notte also approached.
"... He met someone who could re-stoke the flames in his heart", Notte commented, "That is something we all wish for once we have had a taste at least once. It something we all seek, both on and off the battlefield."
"Noriaki...". Montresor murmured, "Should we...?"
"We will be able to pay our respects later", said Noriaki, "We still have much to do here, and I do not wish to waste any more time."
The other two vassals nodded. The three of them gave a brief bow to Arthur's remains as they passed by, looking to the Dusclops who had been watching.
"... Arthur's final moments were full of passion and an enlightenment of finally understanding", he said, "That is more than I could have ever possibly asked for you all to do for him. For that, I am grateful. I am not fond of fighting or joining conflicts, but just this once, I will see what I can do for your venture in this witch's manor."
Theodore looked out to the rest of the group and nodded.
"I will be fine on my own, do not worry", he explained before turning around and fazing through the walls of the manor.
The frontal group moving inside would see the hall stretches rather far with a few doors and stairwells along the way, but the straight path does seem to lead to a more open room.
The Electro Ball lighting up the room would show that it's... Really not much to write home about. It is essentially featureless, and it goes on for long.
It would eventually lead Koss to a stairway leading up, with a shut door right next to it.
Koss's attempt to pick up on any psychic readings would result in some jumbled, static noises. Someone of high Psychic capacity and skill could tell that it's some kind of jamming effect being produced by another Psychic Pokemon somewhere within the manor.
In fact, anyone else within the manor would yield similar results from trying to use their psychic abilities to detect or ping someone.
The Crobat is slammed in to the roof by Rainmaker's Psychic.
Hector approaches and slams both of his fists down on to the Crobat, causing it to faint from all the accrued damage.
"Alright", Hector huffed out, looking over all the knocked out bat Pokemon, "That's that, then."
"We gotta figure out our next course of action", said Achilles, looking to the three towers rising above the rest of the manor, "I think I remember Nori's pals saying that this "Hikari" lady was being kept in a tower, but I'm afraid they might have moved her already as a precautionary measure. Still, we're here anyway, so I guess it would be worth checking out?"
"You two go ahead with that, I'm gonna punch a hole somewhere in this roof so I can drop down and throw off whatever plan this lady and her lackeys got going", the Heracross announced, sauntering around the roof.
Zelgius breathed out softly.
"You all raise some pretty good points", the Aerodactyl sighed, "I don't think I can stand against the lady myself, but I guess there's not point in me trying to stop you all right here. But since you got some old friends of mine, I'll give you a tip at least; You may or may not have noticed, but there's someone doing some "Psychic jamming" for stuff like mind reading or detecting stuff. He's in this room."
With that, Zelgius began to trudge to the exit blockaded by the Combee. They buzzed in agitation, but he smashed his head in to their barrier, scattering them around and causing them to faint.
Attempts to try and detect or ping someone within this room would still result in the static noise, but they might be able to see that there is a shoddy attempt by whoever is producing it to block of their own readings... Which ironically makes them more detectable. They seem to be inside one of the room's pillars.
The Bellossom is hit by the incoming Toxic and the Vine Whip makes it notably worse for her as she falls back.
The Victreebel is blown back by Arsene's Sludge Bomb and hisses painfully.
Yukari is thrown off by the Night Daze and gets hit dead on by Kevin's Skull Bash, while freeing her from the ice, launches her back somewhat. Nephenee capitalized on this and jumped in to the air and slamming down on to Yukari while curled up in a ball.
Yukari grimaced angrily and took note of all the damage her subordinates have taken.
"This will be your wedding veil...", she murmured quietly. She sounds less like she is speaking to someone and more like she is recalling something that she remembers being told.
The Lurantis stood up and had her crest glow. The glow from the crest surrounded her allies as all their sustained injuries were healed in an instant.
"Fight on, my loyal subjects", she commanded, "We'll see Lady L'Arachel wins in the end, no matter the cost! I'll make sure that happens, even if it kills me."
Yukari coughed a bit hard and put one of her sickles over her mouth. When she brought it down, there was some blood. Something about her expression showed a different level of consciousness than she had before.
The Maractus gleefully Quiver Danced once more before changing steps to a Petal Dance, creating a large circle of damaging petals empowered by Quiver Dance.

(Cole can't help but take his hat off his head and simply hold it in front of him after Arthur's last moments.)
Well...rest in peace, big fella... (Marsha says somberly.)
(They follow the others into the manor and into the main hall.)
So...uh, which way do we need to go now? (Cole asks.)
Uh... (Marsha mumbles. After a moment, she points straight down the hallway.) How about we just go straight ahead? Maybe dat's where L'Arachump is.
Thank you for your assistance, Zelgius. (Gene says.) I'll tell you this: We'll get you out of this, and if she decides to eliminate you, she will have to go through us first.
Where are they in here, though? (I ask. I cautiously look around in the room, trying not to get too far away from the others as I do so. Perhaps they're behind one of these pillars in here? I peek around it, mentally preparing myself to use Bite....)
(Upon seeing Yukari negate all of their progress in taking down her allies, Dodie mumbles some choice words again and turns her attention to Yukari; deciding that she needs to be knocked out first or else she'll keep healing everyone.)
Oy! Are you outta yer bloomin' mind? I bet anything she's just gonna kill you once she's done with you anyway! (Dodie shouts.)
(Figuring that she really needs to go to town, Dodie clenches her eyes shut and seems to draw green energy from the ground into herself, which seems to cause her to grow a couple of inches. Dodie used Growth!)
A psychic jam?
I never could have considered such a thing. See, having been granted the ability to just casually read someone's mind I never accounted for running into such a situation like this. But what would happen if I attempted a ping in such a situation? I calm myself, eyes flashing pink and...
Ow.....what the fuck??
I drop to my knees, clearly in some pain, clutching my head.
Angered by Yukari merely healing her allies like nothing, Kevin seems to draw back into his shell before popping out. Like his fellow Kantonian starter Kevin has used a stat buff of his own, Withdraw.

Suddenly, and very coldly at that, Whitney's head shoots up to the others.
"Alright then. Let's get going." She says, bitterness and spite lines her voice like a row of sharp spikes. "At this rate, we'll be done soon enough."
She walks behind the others, now wordless.
[I freeze up a little when I see Zelgius headbutt the wall of Combee...] "Uhh...nothin', it's, it's nothin'," [I answer Nero quickly. I pry myself off the wall and let go of Marlon, making my way over towards Zelgius.] "You could try and be more careful, [I snip at the Aerodactyl—]
[I hear Marlon yell out.] "Marlon!" [Turning around and running back over towards him, briefly dipping onto all fours, I see him clutching his head...dammit, he shouldn't have tested those waters. Bending down, I try and help him back up, though I feel like I'm trying to push a bale of hay up a hill.]
"I'm fine," Woodruff answers Mila. Mila may find a light bruise or two, but he hasn't had any major injuries.
"...Montresor mentioned she'd be up in a tower," Woodruff muses to himself, the true enormity of their task dawning on him. "'n here we are down in the sewers..." Considering how gargantuan the manor was, it's likely they wouldn't even cross paths with the other group, now that he thinks about it.
He looks ahead to Koss, noticing he's approaching a door. "Can ya see through that? Make sure no one's out there?" He looks over at the pool of water with some recent worry...'or in there'...
"Nothin' more'n you can... somethin's causin' a fog, or... ah dunno what ta say, but ah can't use any Psychic trickery ta give ya more info."
"I guess we'll just have to forge ahead, then..."
Mila follows up towards Koss, and tries to push open the door slightly. Assuming it's locked, she'll look through the crack before opening further to see if they're in danger of being spotted. She's a bit uncomfortable even with seeing Woodruff getting slightly scratched up by this, but she swallows that down as they proceed. She knows this isn't the time to dwell on the fact that they're having a child go with them.
Not that she's much older, but there's a responsibility there anyways.
Autumn grimaces seeing first how Zelgius handles the Combee and second how Marlon is affected by his attempts to check the psychic network, or whatever he's doing. Why did he have to test that? Still, the thought of getting out of this without a fight only to run into another of L'arachel's minions right after sits poorly with Autumn, and she ends up trying to call out towards the area Zelgius had mentioned they were hiding.
"Come on... we don't want to hurt you either, please let us talk this out too!"
Before seeing if this will actually draw out the mon Zelgius described, Autumn notices movement near Dinah that soon resolves itself into a Clamperl, shaking as it hops out of its hiding spot and momentarily snapping shut when it sees Dinah right in front of it.
"W-wh-who are you? Do you... know where she went?"
(I jump out of my skin when I see something coming from behind one of the pillars. Oh no, it must be the...Clamperl? Is this the Pokémon Zelgius was talking about? But they don’t seem like Psychic Pokémon. It can’t be them...)
(Whatever the case, the way this Clamperl is speaking...are they a lost child? How on earth did they end up here? Furthermore, is “her” L’Arachel?)
Erm...I’m Dinah. (I say, confused.) What are you doing here? Who are you looking for?
The Crobat, after getting pinned to the roof, got finally K Oed by Hector.
Achilles mentioned a certain "Hikari", who was probably been kept on a tower....kinda like Rapunzel...
Ok...then let's go, Mr. Achilles... , I said as I started flying.
As we flied (with the Vassal taking the lead), I looked at the Manor.
I can't actually believe I did my first battle in this world and actually won. These bats were tough, but when you are a decent competitive Pokémon player, you just know how to be creative with your moves, heheh. I mean, I got hurt, the bitten part of my bell body still kinda hurts, but still, when you are a tanky Pokémon like a Bronzong, it kinda isn't a big deal. I wonder what are the others doing. Are they having a harder time than us at dealing with whatever adversary they stumbled upon?
(The knight bowed his head in respect of Arthur, laying the sword near him. As much as he wanted to give him a proper burial, there isn't much time.) We must continue forth. His death will not be in vain.
(When the group entered the front hallway, plenty of options had been open to them. Zelda in particular felt a sense of curiosity behind the doors.) There might be something else behind those doors. Probably the Quilava or that Hikari girl. (Claude set his eye towards the end of the hallway, feeling like he knows what, or rather who, lies ahead. Eliza on the other hand felt partial to the side paths. Taking the Togekiss' suggestion, she checked on one door and opened it as carefully as she could.)
(At the very least he told us about the jammer before Marlon decided to test it out. So, the jammer's in the room, eh? Wonder how we're gonna flush that bastard out. As soon as I thought of it, it moves from its hiding spot. A Clamperl, huh? Wonder why that of all Pokémon would be here. Doesn't look like it wants to fight either, so I'll let this play out.)
(All that effort and they just get back up. Arsene decided on targeting elsewhere, specifically, the Lurantis' torso. He takes some damage from the Petal Storm, but he fired the Sludge Bomb regardless of the pain.)
I carefully stumble back to my feet on Eliot's help after whatever the hell that was, with some ringing still happening in my ears to only then discover-
A Clamperl is doing the psychic jamming? What gives?
You ever have that moment when someone just comes right up to you and basically forces a loud sound down your throat? Because good lord the moment I heard the sound of the blocking my ears nearly exploded, but amplified by a ton. As for you..
I look over at the Clamperl.
W-why...who put you up to this, and why?
Edited by Team42Larson on Jan 16th 2019 at 6:53:57 AM
The Clamperl remains shut as its spoken to, only reopening once the voices seem to die down and it can think about how to respond. Before doing so, however, it hops backwards somewhat to put a little distance between itself and Dinah.
"I came here with mommy and I wanted to play hide and seek. The mansion was really big and I thought it'd be fun but now I don't know where she is. Can you help me find her?"
Autumn steps forwards towards them once she hears this, looking over towards her group to make a comment as she does so. She knows enough to tell that this mon isn't responsible for the jamming, even without the way they're acting. Clamperl aren't exactly known for their psychic powers.
"It's possible their parent got turned by L'arachel... we should help them. What's your name?"
"Uhh... Mommy calls me 'Sally'."
So a Clamperl that decided to play hide and seek with her mother and got lost. Why does this come off as something that Gorebyss that Genna and Harold told us about would do? Never mind that, she legitimately does come off as a lost child. Gathering myself fully and recovering from the pain I just experienced I formulate a new plan.
Well, we need to know where you last saw here, but...we can try I guess?
I have a new plan. We stay on course to push deeper and aid the other groups in whatever way we can, but also help this kid find her mom. Before we go on...
I start moving amongst the pillars to hunt down the sources of the jam, if it's still there.
Alright, where are you...
Marlon weaving amongst the pillars may result in him finding the true source of the jam, if they're there.
Yet, there is a sense of suspicion I feel. Again, if this is one of those Clamperls then how did they get separated? Is Phoebe somehow in on this?
Edited by Team42Larson on Jan 16th 2019 at 12:57:45 PM
(Oh, the poor child...I can't help but wonder just why this Clamperl and her mother would end up here to play hide-and-seek in the mansion of such an evil Pokémon. I fear the worst, though, be it her mother being assimilated into L'Arachel's Combee masses or even conditioned to be one of her henchmen like Nyquil. Regardless, we need to help poor Sally find her mother and get them both out of here before any of that befalls either of them.)
D-Don't worry, Sally. We'll find your mother and get you both out of here. (I tell Sally.) Just make sure to stay with us. This situation we're in is dangerous...
