"Stop this!"

Mila hadn't been able to react quick enough to the chaos unfolding, but soon enough she'd spurred herself and shot a bolt of lightning straight up into the sky. It wasn't intended to hit anyone, but instead for the boom of thunder to get all their attention and hopefully address the situation.

"Why are you doing this? We need to make sure Niles is okay, not hurt him more! How are we supposed to bring him back if we make him feel worse?"

As she speaks, Mila walks towards the smokescreen, trying to put herself between the rest of the mons and Niles. She looks for Noriaki or one of the vassals, anyone who might know how to go about this. She really doesn't have a plan, and she knows that she's put herself in a position where they'll expect her to have one.

"... Mila's right."

Autumn can't find it in herself to add more, she can't be the focus right now. But she takes some solace in how Mila is acting right now. The girl wasn't where Autumn thought she was, apparently. That was relieving, but seeing how Whitney and the others had gone off like this, seeing how quick they were to treat Niles like an enemy, she couldn't accept that. What reasoning would make it okay?

Upon seeing the couple intervene, Nyquil drops his weight against the wall and begins to pant. He’s hoping that the interference would provide just the opening he needs to escape, but as it stands, he’s utterly trapped. His possible escape routes are too risky and can easily be blocked off. He grits his teeth in frustration. It seems he’s already failed.

Becchel – Streets

The Quilava used a Smokescreen.

But fortunately, Grigori and the others arrived and Zelda blew away the smoke.

But then Mila and that Braixen she had quarrelled with a day ago came to stop us.

But man, she didn't need to create a thunder to stop the fight...I almost had an heart attack...if I even had a heart in this bell body...

   Don't worry, we won't need to fight him anymore   , I said calmly, floating towards Nyquil.

   He looks pretty exhausted to me...   , I said, examining him.

Becchel (Fight)

Oh, right!! (Cole says. He immediately begins running around the immediate area aimlessly as he searches for any sign of the other vassals.)

Dang, if he brought L'Arachump with him, I'm not gonna be happy... (Marsha groans as she also begins looking around for any signs of any further trouble.)

(Then the sudden lightning bolt comes down and startles them into looking toward the alley.)

Now what? (Marsha asks.)

I mean...h-he kinda drug the Vulpix down here and started attackin' 'er...I just thought we needed t'...wear 'im down... (Dodie mumbles. She groans.)

(Gene feels rather embarrassed after Mila calls everybody out, knowing he helped to aggravate the situation himself when he knows better. He hangs his head and just sort of slides off Dodie's back and onto the ground. Gene then looks toward Niles and sees him leaning exhausted against the wall. He approaches Niles as well.)

Becchel (Inn)

(Given that Koss is still over here, I can only assume the source of that loud lightning crack was Mila.)

Now what's going on? (I wonder out loud.)

Seeing how there's no way for him to do something here, seeing how things kinda literally exploded, Timmy darts back away from the fight.

To which I finally make it up to where it's all gone down. With no clear way to proceed, and not wanting to jump into a literally explosive situation, I observe the events from just outside the alley.

I don't know what to do..

Yes, this is a situation where I really have no idea of what to do.

"Alright, alright..." Whitney says to the couple, ultimately agreeing. "But we can't just let him walk away scot-free, right? We need to contain him somehow." Whitney gets closer, observing Nyquil from a safe distance.

Seriously, where does she know him?

"So what do we do with him?"

Vs. Nyquil

(Claude felt a twinge of guilt for his intervention. He sighed to the group, bowing his hilt.)    My apologies. My rashness had blinded me from the gravity of the situation.    (Zelda backed off as a result of the Thunder. She understood that the Raichu might be on to something, but she still kept an eye on the Quilava.)

(Arsene glared at the mouse. How does she know how to stop a curse? True, he knows next to nothing about the mon, but he's still a threat. Eliza looked on, clearly more empathetic than her aged compatriot, but still just as cautious.)

(Meanwhile, I kept my eyes peeled for any more of her minions, while trying not to keep my back to Niles. Whatever she's doing, she better do it quick. Who knows what else Queen Bitch gave him.)

No, no, no, they’re surrounding him. This is unacceptable… he has to escape. He musn’t fail. His front paws begin to glow.    ”Rrgh… NGAHH!”    He turns around and uses Brick Break to smash an opening in the wall behind him, which leads into a different building. Nyquil leaps through to make his getaway. The hole is certainly big enough for him, but anyone considerably larger than he is have no way of fitting.

Becchel – Streets

   And there he goes....   , I deadpanned.

Goddamnit, he escaped. I tried to fit through the hole, but he really couldn't.

Sighing, I turned towards the others.

   At least the Alolan Vulpix is mostly unharmed...   , I said, in a reassuring but also nervous tone.

Next door to the fight...

Boom!

A Quilava mad off his ass dashes his way through a building that is seemingly empty for the moment. Considering how there's nobody there, and even if there was anyone there, the regular occupants wouldn't have been able to decipher what just happened.

For better or for worse, no one else is inside. He quickly makes his way out to the exit and runs outside, possibly visible to anyone outside the alley.

Damn it... Search around! (Guess diplomacy didn't work out. I flew up to search for any exits the Quilava might go through. He can't stay in that building forever.)

(Zelda decided to search for the assailant along with me. Who knows where he went off to? Claude decided to stay behind and keep up the defense.)

(Arsene also stayed behind to spot any threats, but so far, nothing has come up. Eliza went around the building to see where he went to.)

Becchel

Sir-Nyquil, please come back! Cease! ...Oh dear, he's gone... (Gene says trying to fit himself through the hole, but it's just small enough to prevent Gene from following. He backs away from the hole and sits down.) Well...this went...poorly, to say the least.

Yeah, no kidding... (Dodie groans.) Let's try t' find 'im!

(She and Gene prepare to leave the alley.)

(Outside the alley, Marsha spots Niles shooting out of the building.) Hey, dair he is! (She shouts, running in his direction.) Yo, Fireball! Come back heres!

(Cole is close by where Nyquil emerged and, deducing from Marsha that Niles is "Fireball", guns it for him. However, in his rush, he trips and misses by a mile; falling on his face a little ways in front of Niles.)

"You're all kidding me right?!" Whitney shouts, quickly darting through the hole after him.

After she finds herself in a building, she quickly begins hunting for him, eventually hearing footsteps close by.

Canine hearing has some perks, huh?

Running as fast as she can, she just sees him run out as she leaves the building.

There's still a good bit of space between the two, but she can definitely see him. "HEEEYYY!! WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!"

Becchel, Flight

"sigh, and there they go. I need to make sure they don't keep hurting him. We'll figure it out."

Mila brushes aside the questions and sprints after the Marsha and the others, keeping pace and for once focusing on using Agility deliberately, this time to ensure that she doesn't get left behind as the others run off after Niles. She hates to say it but she understands why he's running. She just wants to get a chance to talk to him, though. Once she can see him, she calls out to the others.

"Let me talk to him, please! Give us space!"

Autumn doesn't even try to follow as everyone runs off. She just doesn't have any hope of keeping up with this chaos, and she has to trust that how Mila was acting in that last moment would stick enough to let her see things through peacefully. Autumn moves back towards the inn, only now seeing Koss, Woodruff, Dinah, and Eliot.

"Please tell me you're not going too."

"Ain't mah place, princess."

"How'd you?"

"Mila filled me in last night. Sorry, if'n it's uncomfortable."

"I'll manage."

There! Seeing the others run for the alley, then them scramble a bit, only for Niles to run out of the building they were fighting by, yea, they didn't have it.

"Ah, no...I gotta help those guys! That's yer friend, ain't it?" "Yea, but—" "Alright! Ahh, dammit..." Thrusting himself into danger like this is blaring all the wrong signals in his head...maybe they can take care of it before he even makes it over. If not...

"...I...think I'll stay by the stand," I finally give my verdict to Koss. "I'm not sure I'll be up to fight after...well, I tire myself out every time I change my form, I don't know if you know that, Koss."

The Neyad also doesn't seem to want to get into the fight. They can take care of it, they're doing a good enough job so far. Although, she does note her type-advantage could be an asset...perhaps she could assist the fighters with a Water Gun or three. Moving towards the fight and taking aim, she rears her head back and fires a blazing fast stream of water in the Quilava's general direction.

I notice the Neyad offering her assistance, and an idea pops into my head. Just as I did the prior day, I have my tail surreptitiously start to...no, wait, I'm a Salazzle, not a Smeargle, that wouldn't work. Though if I looked down on the ground, and saw the pink molten slowly turn to blue, it seems it may have.

Seeing the Emboar stumble around him, Nyquil briefly pauses to swiftly slash him with a Flame Charged swipe, using his larger body to shield him from the incoming Water Gun. However, he has to keep moving, seeing as both Mila and the Growlithe are trying to chase him. He turns and begins sprinting down the street with his newly gained speed boost.

Whitney looks back as she runs ahead to Nyquil upon hearing shouting. Oh nice! The, uh, the Raichu is coming too! Her name was... Mila! Maybe she can help her out with this!

... I mean, yeah, the "give us space" thing is a bit worrying, but chances are she won't mind Whitney teaming along! Whitney looks back at Nyquil, picking up speed to catch him as he speeds up. Shiiiiiiiiiit, he's a fast one too.

No biggie though, as a team, nothing is impossible!

With all due respect, ma'am, I had no intention of harming him further! (Gene calls after Mila as he and Dodie scramble out of the alley. They stop at the edge and watch on.)

Gaaouch!! (Cole snorts as Niles takes the opportunity to swipe him and let him take the brunt-end of the Neyad's Water Gun. Cole has no choice but to shield his head as it hits him.)

Oof, that's gotta hurt! Cole! (Dodie cries as she and Gene run to tend to their injured friend.)

(Marsha screeches to a halt and looks on as Niles keeps running and Mila and Whtiney keep running after him. She looks around at everyone wondering what to do next.)

(And just like that, Nyquil is practically flying out of the building. I still have no idea what is truly going on....was he the one who abducted Dana? What's going on now? Not knowing what's going on or what to do, I decide to simply stay here with Eliot.) I think I'll just stay here as well. I'm not sure what all I can do for this.

(I'm briefly distracted by a flash of blue down near the ground and notice portions of Eliot's Salazzle tail turning...blue?) Um...Eliot? (I tap his shoulder and lightly gesture toward his tail.)

As if frozen in literal suspended animation, everyone else, Marsha included, suddenly began bolting off after Niles before I was even able to register any of what the hell had just happened. Much the same, even with a type advantage, Kevin knows that he honestly isn't a very fast runner.

But..those visions. They ring out once again. I want to go after him, but it's gonna just not be very worth it. Resigning ourselves to staying back here, we gather around near those who didn't move.

God damnit, everything just exploded and I almost froze. You guys okay?

(Sooner or later, we spotted Niles just blitzing through the streets in a mad dash. I know the Raichu wanted a less violent approach, but we can't let him get away. Looking at wherever he's going, I aimed farther ahead of him to lead the shot. Trusting my gut, I fired my arrow. The arrow glowed with spectral energy with ghastly chains wrapping around it as it flew towards the Quilava. Zelda made her way closer, but she could not catch up to him at this rate.)

(Eliza tried to keep up, but due to the Agility, he was too far to keep up. She had to hope that they would at least slow him down. Regardless, she still kept up the pace. Arsene meanwhile kept his eyes on the Quilava, trying to get a good angle without hitting anyone. So much for diplomacy, he thought.)

Becchel Streets

Though Niles' own speed boost makes things more difficult, Mila still finds herself slowly gaining on the Quilava, leaving Whitney and the others behind. She doesn't notice the attempt from Grigori, as it's all she can do to try to think of something to say as her lungs start to burn from the force of having to keep up with a fleeing target.

"Please... I want to talk... I won't hurt you."

"It's not worth going after them... nobody is thinking straight."

Autumn sits down next to the others, not even caring that the boardwalk isn't the nicest seating. She hates how everyone is treating Niles like an enemy, like he hasn't been with them for the entire time they've been here. Could they really turn on each other that easily?

"Please tell me you don't want to hurt him?"

Meanwhile, Koss watches as Woodruff rushes off and debates whether he should follow, but soon after takes to motion himself knowing that he won't be able to catch up if he waits much longer.

Everyone was scrambling to react, but Niles had slipped away.

Achilles took a step forward and pulled out his Pinsirite, but Hector cut him off.

"Don't bother", the Heracross said, "He's clearly making a tactical retreat... As well as probably using Hit and Run tactics. I'd hazard a guess and say the point was to disorientate us at least and pick some of us off at best. He seemed to be focusing entirely on speed, mobility, and isolation."

Achilles sighed and put away his stone.

Notte scratched the back of his head and explained, "I was aiming to perhaps injure him and hinder his mobility with Fling, but the Raichu's intervention made me hesitant..."

"By the time I retrieved my needles and flown over, he had already begun his retreat", Montresor explained himself, "The sudden Thunder hindered my progress, I admit..."

Noriaki rejoined the rest and sighed as he watched Mila go.

The Decidueye then turned his attention to Autumn, "... With all due respect, Autumn... I think that to be not a very bright idea. Niles is violent, and currently unfeeling as well. He has orders to kill us, most likely. He is entirely unable to be reasoned with currently, and even if he is, we cannot simply... Approach him and attempt to strike up a conversation. He will have to be restrained or incapacitated at the very least. He will not cease attacking us simply to converse with us. Did you not see how he failed to even listen to Mila's reasoning and instead saw her infuriating disruption as another strategic advantage that he was given?"

"Look, Autumn", Nephenee added, "I get your feelings. I really do. Your whole pacifist thing is something to be admired, honestly. But at this rate, if you keep insistently trying to be a pacifist about this whole thing while other mons are trying to kill us, you're gonna get us all killed rather than preventing deaths."

Noriaki takes some interest in the sight of Grigori's use of Spirit Shackle.

Autumn is close to giving in when she hears Noriaki's response, but something from yesterday pops into her head and spins the Decidueye's words on their head. Standing up once more, she growls under her breath as she moves right in towards him, giving him barely any distance or room to move.

"How. Dare. You. How dare you say that. I saw how you acted with those two over there. What makes your friends special? Why are you allowed to talk when I'm not? Why should I listen to what you want to do all day? If you have any damn sense in your head you are going to go to your stupid friends and have them tell you exactly how we snap Niles out of this. Because you're not special, Noriaki. Your friends aren't the only ones we're saving."

Autumn stares directly at his eyes as she speaks, frustration and anger dripping from every word out of her mouth. She doesn't touch him, though, keeping to her beliefs even now.

Whitney looks on as Mila runs ahead of her, while Nyquil still runs away.

Lord, this is hopeless, isn't it? He's gonna get away, then hell knows what's gonna happen? She thinks while she runs, before eventually saying fuck it.

"Please, please don't hate me for this." Whitney says, even though it'd be incredibly unlikely for Mila to hear. She charges up yet another Flamethrower and shoots it at Nyquil. The type disadvantage won't hurt him much, but if it hits, it'll at least slow him down.
