[up][up] Dunno about other people, but in my case it’s less "hate them" and more… doesn’t know how to handle them. They’re like an alien species or something.

I always feel kind of awkward around children as an adult.

If you can't talk to a child about the things they like or things you like, there is no reason to talk to someone younger than you...

We are starting to veer off topic with the general talk about children.

Did Lindsay ever make statements on her thoughts on kids? I vaguely had some notion she wasn't interested in them but that may be a remnant of the fact I once dated a girl who abhorred kids who was, in terms of looks and voice, basically an Asian Lindsay and I may be transposing that ex's voice onto Lindsay. Or maybe I'm thinking of a Nostalgia Chick video that isn't actually representing her voice.

I don't know. It may have been long ago, and in any case, people tend to change their attitudes towards children once they have one of their own.

This is not a fishing expedition for bad press, I hope?

She seemed generally uninterested in kids but like...that's normal. A lot of people don't like kids in general but love their own kid. Especially since a lot of young adults really don't feel ready for kids and have to pre-emptively shut down all the people who get really fucking insistent and creepy about demanding that you have a kid as soon as possible.

If there is something where she directly says she doesn't like kids, it's completely meaningless and impacts literally nothing because people are allowed to change their minds.

If she only gave birth a few weeks ago, then it’s likely that she was already pregnant by the time she quit and that might have been a factor but… well that’s her personal life. =.="

Anyway, I just rewatched her Hobbit trilogy recently and I’m still impressed by the amount of work and research she invested in it. It’s the kind of content we need more of on Youtube I think. Like, content that really delves into the production process and interviews people that were directly involved in it.

I guess Matt McMuscles does that in a shorter format with "Wha Happun".

I mean, honestly it already impacted literally nothing since it has nothing to do with her content and I was just trying to get the thread back into a slightly railed conversation.

... actually, as I'm typing this, a podcast or something on revisiting old properties and films with your children would be really interesting. There are tons of young parents out there and sharing experiences of revisiting old media you enjoyed as a kid with your children would be cool.

... I know this comes across as "well, how can Lindsay monitize her children" but I'm genuinely trying to connect our conversation with the actual subject of the thread, which is difficult since she's chosen not to produce content for the time being.

Eh, I think letting the thread lie fallow until something actually happens is the best idea.

Well, Musical Splainin' is still posting semi-weekly, but no one seems to want to talk about that.

It also doesn't have Lindsay in it anymore except for that one episode that had been pre-recorded. A separate thread for the podcast is probably the best idea if anyone wants to make it.

This does fit into her political leanings as those on the left are more indifferent on caring about kids while those on the right treat them like they're on a pedestal. That's not a judgment on her as a person whatsoever; it's just she is allowed to be different from the rest of us.

Erm...I'd highly recommend you don't repeat this elsewhere. People on the left are less likely to buy into the narrative about "WOMEN MUST HAVE CHILDREN TO HAVE VALUE" and are a lot more likely to pay attention to children as people.

"I, personally, am not particularly interested in having children and I don't particularly like children" isn't the same thing as not caring about kids, and conflating the two is likely to just lead to a ton of huge arguments.

And, as I said before, this angle is entirely and completely irrelevant to anything. Did she not like kids before? Why does it matter? Did she change her mind? That's her business, why do we care?

For me, it does give context to some of her videos. Yes, she does it in a jokey manner but there's truth in them.

Zendervai Since: Oct, 2009
#6168: Jul 7th 2022 at 9:50:42 AM

Okay, and? Why does that matter?

She has made it extremely clear that she wants to be a private individual at this point with complete control over when she chooses to be public. I don't think digging into irrelevant personal beliefs is a worthwhile use of time in this context.

it's just she is allowed to be different from the rest of us

Also, what is this supposed to mean? A ton of people (including me) have zero desire to have kids and don't like spending time with kids, but would still fight to make sure that they're being treated well and have proper protections and rights. "I want to have kids" is not a baseline default that you can assume about people and the way you phrased that was incredibly dismissive of people who don't want to or cannot have kids for any number of reasons.

Youtubers make entertainment, they arent entertainment themselves.

Trying to catalogue each and every thing they ever said as some sort of mosaic of obsessive fandom is not only harmful but also extremely creepy.

"Creator X said he hates kids!!!! therefore its a character trait for him to hate kids" It might be weird saying this on the Tv Tropes forums but maybe stop applying Tv Tropes thinking to real people.

...excuse me, are you saying that it's okay to pry into the personal beliefs of a person who very specifically wants to be private and who was heavily traumatized by a giant internet brigade of people ascribing beliefs to her and assuming they are all true, just because the site has real life examples?

Dude, that's super fucking gross and you should stop now.
