Man did Dany do nothing wrong nuking King’s Landing.

Those people are human shit-stains. Yeeesh what happened to Lady Tanda’s daughter still freaks me out.

Burning Kings Landing was handled so poorly, and the fact the script when it was out in the open directly calls her "Her Satanic Majesty" in the last episode, along with blatant Hitler parallels they never gave the other rulers, that it ends up making people not opposing her with how badly they handled it.

The disappointment doesn't there. Nope. Not at all!

Even the people who built the damn set, in a place that made it more frustrating to build it for authenticity, left them disappointed that nearly a year of work was used just to have one scene where it's burned down.

The cherry on top is that Drogon missed hitting Jon and was just shooting fire at random, which conveniently burns the throne.

Though said civilians did engage in violent mob acts like brutal dismemberment & gang rape so it’s kind of a grey-black line.

I’ll admit I’m unfamiliar with the event in question, but I have a hard time envisioning that the people who did that represent an entire god damn city, including children.

Half is still too many.

Look, I’m just going to flat-out say that indiscriminate slaughter is a bad thing, and the fact that some of the people you slaughter may have also done evil things does not in any way justify it. There is no justice there, absolutely none.

To be fair, the context of the riot was during a long protracted famine in which Joffrey's solution to people showing up at the castle gates to beg for bread was shooting them with a crossbow.

I think GRRM sees the feudal society and the war as responsible for the riots and creating the breaking point in the first place .(ASOS spoilers since I don't know if Slimcoder's gotten there) It's occasionally pointed out during the Tyrell-Lannister power hour that is the Joffrey/Margaery wedding and later on that the city embraces the Tyrells solely because they brought food to alleviate the famine in spite of them causing it in the first place when they sided with Renly. The excess extravaganza for the wedding is an excellent show for the nobility, but would easily have people rioting if they knew.

The capital of the Seven kingdoms, King's Landing, is a Wretched Hive in the show. Including the Children. Nay especially the children once you see how the little birds handle their roles as spies and assassins.

And the people who were trying to fix things were a Order of Religious fanatics that kill or force homosexuals in a life of servitude to the faith.

And they were still the better option for the people. Then when Mad Queen Cersei blew them up nobody in the city cared, and her underling Qyburn has his Little Birds/Said Children that are his spies/assassins who did it.

Basically they did a bad job in the show of making the people sympathetic in King's Landing. Almost as bad as their handling of Cersei and trying to make her sympathetic as they had Dany go Mad King on it.

Furthermore we know that many sympathic characters are from KL. Ser Davos and his wife, Gendry and his stepfather, Hot Pie and certainly many others who I don't remember at the moment.

Most of the lucky ones got out of Kings Landing when they had the chance.

Olenna herself nicely declares how over half the city is scum when talking with the High Sparrow. Unfortunately, the plot decided the other half all died with the Sparrow. Gendry was one of the lucky few left afterwards.

Its not like it couldn't have worked, but the rushing of the last two seasons desensitized people especially when named characters don't die and the latest game path Nerfed the scorpions and respawned all the dead Dothraki and Unsullied.

And that's like part of the problem. A number of people even on Youtube loathe Dany and thought it was always possible for her to do something like that one day, but the setup for it was so bad that it left even a lot of those folks mad about how it happened. Which is quite a feat in itself!

Are we justifying genocides now? That is a rather dangerous slippery slope, with many Unfortunate Implications. Not to mention that many a despotic ruler committing real genocides have used exactly such reasoning, dehumanizing and criminalizing populations to justify slaughtering them wholesale.

Optimism is a duty.

A small minority of King's Landing engaging in some mob rule atrocities, as well as most of the (high-born) POV characters generally viewing them as scum, is a real shaky basis on which to a form a judgement that states that the King's Landing population deserved to be burned to death en masse. They're just normal people.

Don't forget the time where the commonfolk pretty much slut shamed Cersei as she walking the streets naked. And it wasn't for the horrible shit she did but because she had out of wedlock sex.

Or how they cheered when Ned Stark was executed.

They're just normal people.

Because of human atrocities in the real world that are allowed to continue because normal people either did nothing or support it, is that really an excuse anymore? If ever?

Theres tons of Thermian reasons why and why not the city is justified in being burnt, they all dont matter because the story didnt care for any of these reasons.
