I think it's kinda the norm now for Cygames to throw in a lot of pop culture references when the event is mostly on the comedic, wacky side of things?

The localizers definitely went nuts with the references in the text, yeah. I expect the plot itself borrows from at least a few shark movies, Jaws first among them.

This event blows all of the Lowain bros comedy events out of the water. I've never laughed so much while reading an event.
Also there is literally a trophy called "What makes the sky shark" in the japanese version

Finally got around to reading SSR!Tanya's Fate Episodes and ;~~~;
Despite a lot of it being just exposition dumping some long overdue backstory, the back half provides a very satisfying resolution to her arc.

BTW, I still can't understanding the "B-san" flip-flopping joke in the event (I'm playing the English version), in the part where Vyrn made Sandal puns out of Sandalphon's name and Sandalphon quickly retaliates. I don't know if the joke only works in the Japanese language.

I think it has to do with the shape of the straps (V-strap sandals, so "V-san", which sounds like Vee-san).

I wouldn't say Woolseyism myself; the pun doesn't really work in English since Vyrn's name was changed, and explaining why "V-san" is a pun would be Don't Explain the Joke. It's just a solid joke translation.

Reading through the planned July update, I'm actually... excited??
Cerb/Fen becoming permanent so people don't have to freak out over Fimbul farming, ROTB might become even more grind-heavy but also new Omega weapons which hopefully give a boost for Fire and Water, the new skill for Galilee's Insight cannot possibly be more disappointing than Verity for Taisei Spirit Bow (inb4 it's also just Verity), and good riddance to the seed crew system.
And Ayer getting a fifth uncap which is obviously the most important bit of news AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

There are Side Stories where you can recruit a bunch of characters including Sandalphon (his side story is Paradise Lost), the Aquors trios (the Love Live crossover), and Pecorine/Kokkoro/Kyarl (the Princess Connect crossover) who are probably the best for getting a headstart on making a good party with one of the six elements combined with the freebie SSR from the rigged 10-roll and the guaranteed SSR character from doing the pinboard missions.
In general, I only spend cash on the guaranteed character tickets to buy a character for one ten-roll when they go on sale every few months but sparking (where hoarding 300 individual rolls for one banner to get 300 items called a cerulean spark to trade for an SSR character) is the most often used F 2 P strategy with the gacha.

It's entirely possible to play the entire game without spending anything. In addition to the above, Cygames regularly does campaigns that give free draws from the gacha. The new years and anniversary campaigns in particular give a ton of them.
Christmas-New Years, Anniversary, and Summer.
Along with any free one pulls daily they do for occassions.

There's no need to really spend money on this game outside of suptix because the game is that generous with free stuff. Just play and grind and you'll have all you need.

Right? Granblue is just a cut or three above every other mobile game I've played in terms of writing.
I see they toned down Hal a little bit (or moderately, rather) in English, too.
Overall, this event is great. A whole bunch of immortal idiots learning how to be people.
