Essentially:
And according to this,
it's set in Kilkenny during the English Civil War in the mid-1600's, which, if I'm not mistaken, was when the presence of wolves was considered a bad omen.

Double post:
Cartoon Saloon news!
- Disney announced at Annecy they'll be debuting a cartoon by Cartoon Saloon called Vikingskool, in which the characters are described as "freshmen in Top Gun but for Vikings."
Should be around by the end of 2019, but no telling if Disney will be releasing it in the United States (other sources
say it'll be around in the European, Middle Eastern and African markets...lucky ducks). And another bit of contention: it's apparently geared for viewers of Disney Junior, namely 6-11 year-olds...yeah.
- Some are believing Wolfwalkers will be released by Apple...
Not sure how that'll work out. Like is it going to be an iTunes exclusive or...?

So remember how a while back, some were speculating the movie would be an Apple exclusive? Turns out it's true.
Still kinda skeptical...
Necro.
Cartoon Saloon is launching its own rights division, headlined by Wolfwalkers!
They'll be showing their stuff with Dentsu Entertainment USA on June 4th at the Las Vegas Licensing Expo!
Interesting detail in this image:
◊ To emphasize how different Robyn and Mebh are, you can see how Mebh has a sketchier look to her while Robyn appears more polished, so to speak.
Bump.
The Online Annecy Animation Festival is up now and with it, comes a first look at international animated projects.
One of them is, of course, Cartoon Saloon's Wolfwalkers, in which Animation Magazine did a feature regarding Tomm Moore's inspirations for the movie.
(Warning: The article features screenshots/concept art that's definitely entering spoiler territory. You have been warned.)
Of note:
- For the movie, Cartoon Saloon used 3D software to develop a distinct wolf-vision to aptly show the world from the POV of wolves.
- As speculated previously, the notable visible difference
◊ between characters like Robyn and ones like Mebh are on purpose. The sketchier aesthetic Mebh has is based on the loose, sketchy style seen in Disney's 101 Dalmatians.
Let me help you there:
EDIT: To answer your question, no, I don't think anyone's seen that. Great catch. Pretty sure it might get taken down soon, so I went and downloaded it. I encourage anyone who's looking forward to this movie to do the same.
EDIT 2: Ooh, we even have a cast list!
- Robyn Goodfellowe................Honor Kneafsey
- Mebh MacTire............................Eva Whittaker
- Bill Goodfellowe............................. Sean Bean
- Moll MacTire.................Maria Doyle Kennedy
- Lord Proctector Cromwell...Simon McBurney
EDIT 3: Oh, and we have a graphic novel adaptation
coming from Little Brown and novelist Samuel Sattin!
