Guys, have you heard about Kadokawa firing director Tatsuki?
It's possible that the quality of season 2 of Kemono Friends is compromised.
https://twitter.com/highimpactsex/status/912276297732177920
This is completely blowing up. Not only Tatsuki but also the entire anime staff has been fired. Japanese fans are completely outraged, so much so that apparently Kadokawa's stock is suffering noticeable damage.
Basically Kadokawa just killed the goose that laid the platinum, jewel-encrusted eggs. I honestly don't understand the reasoning behind any of this besides pure spite, because if it was greed then you would think that the executives would go "well this guy is making us shittons of money so let's just let him keep on making us shittons of money."
Fight for something, even if its meaningless.Kadokawa is also infamous for their production of Light Novels adaptations. The are the main reason Endless Eigth of Haruhi ended up the way it did.
Watch SymphogearApparently this shitstorm ultimately stemmed from the Episode 12.1 short that Tatsuki released on NND; apparently with Kemono Friends' unexpected popularity the executive higher-ups were pissed that they could've monetize it by putting it on BD. You know, despite them giving Tatsuki full creative control over the anime (because it was "hopeless.")
Again, I can't think of any explanation that actually makes sense other than malice. Even corporate stupidity has its limits. This may just be the biggest example of Screwed by the Network in the history of anime.
Fight for something, even if its meaningless. The entire staff didn't get fired, they mass resigned in protest.
How far Kadokawa has fallen since the days where they made Mahoromatic.

The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!'in Japan, you resign rather than getting fired. Because 'fired' = 'blackballed'
I heard that Kemono Friends fans all over Asia have completely united in their hatred of Kadokawa. Some people are actually hoping that when Kim finally launches his missiles the first one will hit Kadokawa HQ. Sooooo much hate.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Someone made a google doc to give a briefing on what have happened so far : https://docs.google.com/document/d/15Dr7Vbu5xYLtulxIQN0BMf0VGwFwAcU8_SA9HdlfztU/preview
It doesn't help that their attempts at shifting the blame are only fanning the flames further (and making them look like giant dicks). Besides shit like getting massively trending hashtags deleted, they eventually had the V As give an apology, resulting in the whole thing somehow exploding even harder. And then some news sites claimed to have "insider info" that it was really Yoshizaki Mine who was "jealous" and responsible for the whole clusterfuck. You know, the character designer who was really supportive of the anime staff from start to finish? Not only no one bought that at any point, a bunch of the staff behind Sgt. Frog are angrily chiming in too now that they tried to drag their writer and friend through the mud.
We're getting downright surreal.

I forgot, there is a pixiv tag called Tatsuki Shock about this whole mess. Also, did something happened with Moose's voice actress? She comes up a bit under that tag.
Edit : Ok, I don't know how to make the tag link work in tvtrope but just paste the following japanese text to find pictures at pixiv under this tag :
たつきショック

Well this is one huge mess Kadokawa made, and from what it looks like they responded as expected by doubling and tripling down. If a second season does get made with or without the original producer a lot of the good will of the series is gone now.
In this case the Moose is supposed to be Tatsuki. For some reason or another fandom had grown to see Moose as an Author Avatar of Tatsuki because of her spirit.

I don't even follow the series, but I figured this might be of interest to you all:

Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation.Kemono Friends had been a low-priority for me until headlines of Tatsuki's firing smashed into my radar like a crashing B-52 bomber on fire. Then Grape-kun's passing happened.
Any updates on the Tatsuki debacle, BTW?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Other than Kadokawa having got in touch with Tatsuki and starting to discuss, not so much. My fingers are crossed.
At this point no news is better than more bad news, if they're still talking that still means there's a chance of working something out between the groups.
As for Grape-kun's passing, it's clearly hit the Friends and even the anime community hard, Grape-kun trended for hours on Japanese twitter and nearly every gathering place for fans of the show are mourning him. It's sad and heartwarming at the same time.
Looks like a lot of people are hoping that if there is a second season they'll put something in memory of Grape-kun, though right now I think most people would be happy with a confirmed decent Season 2 in the works first.

So... Any news on the Tatsuki debacle? Or Season 2?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Tatsuki has got something else lined up now, so a reconciliation looks unlikely. Gossip mill is saying S2 might be handled by Sunrise

What about Tatsuki's colleagues who mass resigned in protest? Or the effects of the fandom's outrage on Kadokawa as a company?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Bumping back up to the front page because I just finished the series after... far too long, really.
Man, that was a good finale. It's amazing how effective moments like Serval shouting at the Cerulean and the Big Damn Heroes moment were even with effectively no budget or polish time, and the hints of worldbuilding and melancholy in the show were so damn good. It's like the inverse of KyoAni's usual - sure, the show doesn't look great at all, but it had a ton of heart.
Anyway, does anyone have any idea why Kaban's fingertips are black in the final episode after she reconstitutes? I can only imagine it's because of the reconstitution, but I was wondering if it was something specific.
As far as a cursory search goes, I don't think we have any news for Season 2 yet... which isn't good.
It's been fun.
Correction: there were rumblings, but then the fiasco with Kadokawa happened. The momentum sort of stalled since then, and no one's picked up after the director and studio bowed out due to personal issues (can you blame him) or being too busy with another project.

Season two, anyone?
Will the transhumanist future have catgirls? Does Japan still exist? Well, there is your answer. — UnknownAnd it already has a controversy due to a plagarism scandal, the day after the announcement....
Man, this sounds like atrainwreck already.
Watch SymphogearThe fandom has not forgotten, the youtube trailer got downvote bombed.

Lately, I have heard that the name of the new Kemono Friend game is confirmed. IIRC, it's Kemono Friends Pavillon?
Also, I saw that there's a lot of KF post in Japanese at twitter. Then it hitted me : the show is being rerun. Right now they're at the part where Shoebill said its Wham Line. If you want to see Japanese reaction, I suggest keeping an eye on Japanese twitter. Also a good time to give suggestions to twitter's translate option? :P
Edit : seriously, Shoebill's anata mokashite, hito? is said a lot. Maybe it'll become a memetic mutation?
Also, Legoland is mentionned in some other posts but I have no idea why. XD
Nevermind, here is Legoland's ending. XD
Additionnal edit : the professor statement about life being about eating good food is a bit quotable. Also, a (in?)decent amount of people say レズパレス (Les(bian) Palace) in allusion to Raccoon, Fennec, American Beaver and Black Tail Prairie House being in the same house. I have also seen "Yuri House" in that regard. XD
