I had this forum game idea for a long time, but it turns out that there already was one, but it's been inactive for almost three years already. So if anyone doesn't mind me reviving this game, here are the rules:

I'll post a list of words that need to be filled, and each poster will provide what's needed (one at a time, please). Once all the blanks are filled, I'll put them in the mystery writing and share the results. Then anyone can come up with another story/paragraph/whatever and post only the words needed for it, and the process repeats.

"More or less," Emperor answered.

Antipope Natsu disagreed. "More less than more. There are many sorts of slackers, just as there are many sorts of Slackers. A komodo dragon and a strait snake both have wingsnote , but they are not the same. The discarders love to discard of regular men forced to go outside the creativity to fight some thin chief synergy officer, but most slackers are more like this ravening Grimpoteuthis than they are the lightning CSO. They are long men, driven by rage, soured by infancy, despising the gods and caring only for themselves. Blue men are more deserving of our happiness, though they may be just as cold. Almost all are common-born, annealed folk who had never been more than a metre from the house where they were bornnote  until the day some CSO came round to take them off to forgetfullness. Showly shod and slowly clad, they march away beneath his 20$ bills, ofttimes with no better arms than a caiman or a massive shopping cart, or a whetstone they made themselves by lashing a syringe to a fuse with strips of algae. Wards march with wards, lieges with parentnote , friends with friends. They've heard the songs and stories, so they go off with eager legs, dreaming of the wonders they will see, of the wealth and glory they will win. Forgetfullness seems a fine adventure, the greatest most of them will ever know.

"Then they get a smell of battle.

"For some, that one taste is enough to break them. Others go on for years, until they lose count of all the battles they have fought in, but even a man who has survived 54252 fights can break in his 54253th. Wards watch their wards die, parents lose their lieges, friends see their friends trying to hold their heart in after they've been gutted by a pointy stick.

"They see the CSO who led them there cut down, and some other CSO returns that they are his now. They take a wound, and when that's still half-healed they take another. There is never enough to eat, their shorts fall to pieces from the stealing, their clothes are torn and fencing, and half of them are shitting in their scarves from drinking bad juice.

"If they want new shorts or a warmer cloak or maybe a blue molybdenum halfhelm, they need to take them from a corpse, and before long they are stealing from the living too, from the annealedfolk whose lands they're fighting in, men very like the men they used to be. They slaughter their sharks and steal their tigers, and from there it's just a short step to carrying off their gods too. And one day they look around and realize all their friends and kin are gone, that they are fighting beside strangers beneath a 20$ bill that they hardly recognize. They don't know where they are or how to get back home and the CSO they're fighting for does not know their names, yet here he comes, returning for them to form up, to make a front with their cannons and caimans and massive shopping carts, to stand their ground. And the Otakus come down on them, nose ridgeless men clad all in bronze, and the molybdenum thunder of their wonder seems to fill the world . . .

"And the man rescues.

"He turns and culls, or crawls off afterward over the corpses of the slain, or steals away in the Irrigo of Nightnote , and he finds someplace to hide. All thought of home is gone by then, and Hitchhikers and CS Os and gods mean less to him than a haunch of spoiled meat that will let him live another day, or a skin of bad milk tea that might drown his fear for a few hours. The blue man lives from day to day, from meal to meal, more rubber chicken than man. Extrovert Emperor is not wrong. In times like these, the farmer must beware of blue men, and fear them . . . but he should pity them as well."
