edited to add this information, since this is going to be a long clean-up
"Donald Trump, as with any other current political figure, should not be a subject of any trope example on the wiki, except:
- When the work in question specifically mentions the RL individual.
- When the entirety of the example has to do with the portrayal of that individual in the work.
- When the work is fictional.
All three of these must apply.
Alternatively:
- When the RL individual has a creative role themselves, such as writing or acting in a work. In this sense we give them no more nor less treatment then we would any other creator.
Additionally, please make sure to take out any examples of "Funny Aneurysm" Moment, Harsher in Hindsight, or Hilarious in Hindsight regarding these political figures. A political event that may be seen positively by some people may be seen negatively by others.
We're starting with the wicks to Donald Trump (There were 751 of them at the starting point of this count.)
Wicks have already been checked and cleared up to

Given the current political climate, talking about Donald Trump on this Wiki is a very sensitive topic and pretty much any comment on him could easily end up violating the Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment. I talked it over on Ask a Troper and a moderator gave me permission to start this topic. I feel it will be necessary to make sure any mention of him is safe and avoids politically charged or biased opinions. Right now, we need to stick to facts, not opinions.

NOTE: This topic is for political figures only. If you want to dispute any example of a person of another field, use this topic.
Content Warning: My posts may involve my actions dealing with R-rated or Not Safe for Work content. Same for my edit history.A long while back (November 2018), I edited this part of the description on The Simpsons (emphasis mine):
Though, despite claims that it's not as good as it once was, there's something to be said about a show that debuted (as a series of shorts) when Ronald Reagan was U.S. President, debuted in prime-time and referenced by name when George H. W. Bush was in office, had its best years when Bill Clinton was in office, was more-or-less still going strong during the George W. Bush administration, saw Barack Obama get elected twice and was around to repeatedly mock the incumbent president throughout his entire campaign and ongoing tenure.
The bolded part felt biased since every other president is described in a neutral way, but it becomes negative when it reaches Trump. I changed it to "for Donald Trump's entire campaign and ongoing tenure", but then the troper Trippy Dippy 69 changed it in March 2019 to "to ridicule Donald Trump's entire campaign and ongoing tenure."
Should I revert it? Is it an Edit War if there's such a long time between edits?
Report it in Ask The Tropers, maybe the mods will revert it.

Rawr.I've reverted.
Also found this in Death Note Special Chapter:
Should this be nuked as well?

"a usual Take That! like the majority of the world does" seems biased, but the rest is fine since it's specifically about the fictional version of Trump depicted in the story. I haven't read the manga (or anything Death Note related in general), but from looking at the main trope page, "Is them lying about having the Death Note to the whole world and not take it in order to not die meant to depict them as a Dirty Coward..." would be an acceptable replacement.
From Astro City
- Harsher in Hindsight: In the "Victory" arc, Winged Victory is accused of Engineered Heroics, leading to her detractors chanting "LOCK HER UP! LOCK HER UP!" A few years later, "Lock her up!" would become a major slogan in the Donald Trump Presidential campaign against Hillary Clinton.
Yea or nay?
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The thread says to cut any Hindsight examples about politicians (since they are dependent on political views, and I think the site wants to stay apolitical), so cut.

Limpin' with the bizkit.Pretty sure this is an instapull, but wanted to bring it here to be sure. From YMMV.Hadestown:
- Harsher in Hindsight: Many critics have pointed out the eerily prophetic nature of "Why We Build The Wall", which came out in 2010 and was written c.2007, with the rise of a certain President of the United States, especially with regard to his promise to build a wall to keep out undesirable immigrants.
There's a related example of Misaimed Fandom that probably needs to go too.
I'd be wary of Hindsight items about politicians. Nip it in the bud.
Rawr.It's gone.
This is on YMMV.Tiny Toon Adventures:
- Harsher in Hindsight: The show notably compared Montana Max to Donald Trump during the song "Toon Out, Toon In." Additionally, the Whole-Plot Reference epipsode to Citizen Kane sees Monty running Buster against for class president and cheating in order to win. With allegations against Trump using outside help to win the 2016 Presidential Election against Hilary Clinton, it can be hard not to notice the coincidences.
I think that political examples of HIH are supposed to be euthanized on sight.
Rawr.Found this on YMMV.Its A Dangerous Business Going Out Your Door.
- Overshadowed by Controversy: As demonstrated in this tweet thread, in 2020 the creator went on to attack protesters with a machete during the protests over George Flynn's murder.
Regardless of the man's repulsive actions, I think this is a possible ROCEJ violation.
Duly noted.

Rawr. This might be a valid example, since other "this person has done controversial political stuff" examples have been allowed in the past, but it should still be removed for failing OBC's No Recent Examples, Please! policy (at least 6 months must pass from when the controversial thing happened).
I also fail to see the "overshadowed" part.
There's a lot of OBC "examples" that are really just creator bashing; just remove them and move on.
UsefulNotes.COVID 19 Pandemic:
- The US government itself faced criticisms for its slow response to the pandemic, including misinformation [[ArtisticLicenseMedicine misinformation]] posted by Trump administration officials (...) The US response was also hampered by the lackadaisical approach taken by Trump and others in his administration (with the exception of public health experts), with Trump claiming that the virus would "just go away" in warmer weather, and [[BlatantLies repeated claims to have defeated the virus while infection rates still continued to climb]].
Artistic License and Blatant Lies in RL seems a red flag. Thoughts?
Give it the heave-ho.
I’ve been wondering for a while: Why is this thread not in Long Term Projects? It seems much more suited for there, especially considering this cleanup has happened for more than 3 years.
“Now! Let us engage in the art of deduction!”Probably since it was initially intended to be a short-term cleanup, but editors will be editors so it's still ongoing.
While I do find it ironic and the way this is phrased funny, the situation is still ongoing and I'm not sure if calling something related to this subject matter a meme is a good idea:

So I found this video of Stephen King being disturbed by the fact that his character, Greg Stillson, from Dead Zone has a lot of parallels to Donald Trump in terms of his rise to power in the political arena. I feel this is a worthy Harsher in Hindsight entry since Stephen King, the man who wrote Dead Zone, was the first one to admit his feelings on the matter.
No Hindsight examples about Donald Trump's presidency. Period.
I can rant about indentation and the like for a while, but the only thing potentially ROCEJ-worthy is the last sentence of the 2016 paragraph. Confirmation Bias has no reason to go NRLEP, so these can just be moved to a Real Life folder.
