They always spotted me trying to parachute in. So I hate you for that. :P

Here is the trailer for the update and new missions. New gear, new story content, and Sam Fisher is back for sure. I want the guns and the new gear.

This is an update that says "up yours" to the trend-chasing execs.

  • New difficulty settings are pretty cool. Particularly the Far Cry-like health regeneration system that limits it to the last segment with any health remaining.
  • No season pass in sight, and both last season storylines are replayable without limits, it seems.
  • Everyone gets Sam's goggles!

But, there are some bugs (incorrect button press hints for picking up weapons from the ground, for example), and if you're deluded enough to try playing the raid, you'll need to play the looter-shooter mode anyway.

Well I'm glad I bought this now!

Next on the backlog, but still.

Wildlands 1 should be fairly simple to blitz; any word on when we get the AI squadmates yet? I have to say I do welcome these positive changes to how the game works; more gameplay, less "log in daily to get free gems" near-mobile gaming achievement chasing...

No squadmates and I don't want them. I already got used to soloing everything in stealth mode.

I mean, seriously. Try running the game solo. It's fun. Sometimes, it's fun.

[up] Ha! I think I will - they were squiffy in Wildlands. But I'd like the option of them as most people who play are in another timezone and I feel doing a random game with strangers would be odd. But may give it a whirl!

I do like the Delta Force / Project IGI feel of going solo though.

Ok had a chance to play some as well.

Overall its an improvement, however, selecting no gear level has some downsides. The first is no pickups for parts or cash sale and the already mentioned requirement to get into raids. The improved spawn system is appreciated.

The engineer class is ok. The drone is a special ability rather than a piece of expendable equipment. Instead, your class expendable is a drone delivering ammo. The "defensive" drone is pretty good at shooting up enemy squads and you can send it after pretty much any enemy you want. It makes me wish we still had the offensive drone option we had in Wildlands.

The other new class is basically a handgun stealth-oriented class with a fancy vision mode for its special. I can't really comment on it too much as I haven't played it much.

The new gear looks nifty and so far I had acquired four separate weapons. Three handguns and an assault rifle.

So I have almost completed the upgrade process for the SC 40K AR. If you can lay hands on the rifle, go for it. I slap a digital scope and a UBGL, with the MAWL-DA laser mount. It has supplanted my ARX 200. It does pretty damn well. I like the handgun with the integral suppressor you earn from one of the early missions with Sam Fisher, it has temporarily supplanted the magnum revolver for when I need stealth vs firepower.

Gar Spart and I have finished the sam fisher missions, they were very good if a bit short.

I recomend turning on the 1 weapon tactical option though, while it vastly restricts your engagment options, it at the same time makes the game so much better for it.

Also yes, I agree I <3 the SC-40k

I went to fight a Behemoth for one of the Engineers level requirements and got a really nasty surprise. The nasty bastard was lobbing poison gas at me. Just like the stuff, the assaulter pitches around in grenade form only a much larger area and it can saturate a larger area with multiple shots. It really freaking hurts. It almost always inflicts a wound and eats up at least one full health bar.

SO took me a while, but FINALLY took out El Commandante.

Flipping HECK MOB Condor is a pain on Tier One. I NEARLY got it once but got sniped as Bowman was talking to me. And UNIDAD teleports and has ENDLESS reinforcements if you can somehow duck out and hide.

But managed it. Snuck in, turned into a MASSIVE running gun battle, then ID'd the beggar, got an armoured car and blitzed TF out of there. Tactical withdrawal be damned.

Got The Security Buchons all done, just Smugglers left. Want to clear out Bolivia completely. Then MAYBE tackle Predator... going to clean up the DLC quests and I WILL BEAT SAM FISHERS SODDING MISSION.

....though just not on Tier one.

Think judicious use of Mortars on my own position and Rebel assistance may be required. Plus my AK has high penetration so just SHOOT THRU WALLS.

Then I can get onto Breakpoint. What "gameplay" settings do you guys recommend first time through?

Apr 1st 2020 at 1:29:25 AM

Double post - ALL Buchon's down. Boston was... an anticlimax. I have the HTI upgraded sniper (The one that says you're overcompensating).

And it feels like cheating when you use it. OHK on ANY vehicle? La Bouchita's mission was easy - wiped out the convoy in THREE shots. Boston? One shot.

I still loath UNIDAD though. I don't think I'm going to bother with Narco Road or Fallen ghosts once I wrap up the remaining missions (Fisher, Griffin and El Sueno's last mission); then just shift to Breakpoint.
