I dropped it after they killed the only interesting character, interesting cause they built a potential character arc with her before just killing her off.
Everyone else is just bleh, seriously every single member of the cast is basically 'ok let's base these guys off good characters and types then strip everything interesting about them then make them fight'.
If they just pulled a The Devil Is A Part Timer style thing and played with/focused on characters personalities it would have been really great, they could have even kept the fighting really. Instead its exposition after exposition.

Re:CREATORS didn't look fun or entertaining to me, so I didn't bother.
Yeah it started off strong. The lead was seemingly Estelle from and other tomboyish type characters with a mech like Valimar from but damn did it just did nothing with it, they removed the mech and and blandified all the characters to just a single trope with mountains of exposition on why they are a single trope as well as heavy doses of Contemplate Our Navels.
Its probably attempting to do commentary on one note characters but holy crap they are doing it so god damn badly that it is so pointless.

The only reason the show got popular is because its written by the guy who does Black Lagoon, Rei Hiroe.
Its probably why the old Black Lagoon esque mafia boss guy is best boy, apparently.

I have heard good things about Black Lagoon but after watching this trainwreck...
Not really. Anyway they are all going to die anyway so there isnt a point to that.

It's the best non-sequel airing this season.
Also, I normally dislike saying stuff like this, because my reaction to people complaining about the exposition was 'Wha? But the exposition is all on fascinating topics! Why do people have a problem with this?' anyway, but I feel like there's been a lot less exposition in the later episodes, once all the basic worldbuilding has actually been finished.
Suka Suka is the best, honestly. My opinion, obviously, but even past the exposition phase, whats happening Re Creators doesn't interest me.
Its a poorly executed Last Action Hero, thats it, to me.
Watch SymphogearBusou Shoujo Machiavellianism is probably my fav of the season although looking at the preorder listings I saw a few days ago it isnt anyone else's.
From waht I recall, its because its a more poorly executed Ikki Tousen or Tenjho Tenge.
The Poorer then usual CGI and lack of emotional expressions of the characters turned me off of it after the first episode, plus the Elfen Lied but done poorly vibes I got from it.

Eh? Its pretty different than those series, Its got more in common with Infinite Stratos I think, except for the fact that the characters are actually psycho and in the funny way psycho.

The first episode was a real turn off, does it like change massively?
The 'Elfen Lied done badly' description is really apt ![]()
Does it stay that one.

Is the idea of something being the best even applicable to something as varied an anime season?
The topics were interesting enough, but it wasn't saying much about them I hadn't heard before, and had a tendency to use a lot more words than necessary
Man, you're uncharacteristically negative today, DGOC.
But, like, Suka Suka's a 6/10 note for me, to Re: Creators' 7/10. note
I can't comment on any of the other shows you guys mentioned because they're all either not my genre or stuff I didn't check out because of negative buzz from the first few episodes.

It is a poor season for me as well, the only things I havent completely droped so far is Busou Shoujo Machiavellianism, Akashic Records and Saenai Heroine No Sodatekata.
x4
I don't know anything about that other anime you guys are referencing but a quick Google search tells me that the shows could not be more different. For one thing Alice to Zorouku isn't a horror series. That said if you didn't enjoy episode one you're unlikely to enjoy the rest as it's more of the same though given how good I found episode one that's fine with me.
@DGOC Except Tsuki ga Kirei is a simple love story, so the comparison doesn't hold water. And even then its writing and direction are consistently better than Scum's Wish was, though the latter has the more bewitching soundtrack.
@ Hylarn Eh, I think people know that "best" is subjective. And honestly people have made some solid choices for their "best" non-sequel. It's not like anyone is parading the likes of Gin no Guardian.
Re: Alice to Zouroku Hardly comparable to Elfen Lied outside of the generic premise of superpowered children being experimented on. That aspect of the story quickly enters the background as the SOL, taking-care-of-children side of the story takes center stage.
My favourite non-sequel would either be Suka Suka or ID-0. Suka Suka can be very powerful at times, but it has some pacing problems and is occasionally kind of dumb. ID-0 is all-around solidly made, but never attempts to be more than campy fun
I feel the season has a lot of watchable shows, but very little new that'll be worth remembering
So nobody, including the guy with the less watched shows roundup, watches Kabukibu! then?
Well, I can understand. Basically it's another "let's create a school club for this obscure(ish) Japanese cultural thingie" and it's nowhere near Chihayafuru or even Hanayamata levels of quality, with only flat, servicable artwork and animation. But what I like about is that it is serious about Kabuki, its appeal and lack of it to well, mostly anybody not grown up with it and how to make it accessible to newcomers.
Not to mention it's an actual club show with a roughly fifty fifty ratio of boys and girls, which is rare.
Re:Creators is awesome, and probably my favorite this season. Granblue Fantasy is also great, if you like fantasy series.
Kado:The right answer, might be the smartest and most though provoking series I've seen or at least it was until now.
Busou Shoujo Machiavellianism is a great action/comedy show.
Alice to Zoroku is just pure fluff.
Those are the show's I'm really enjoying this season.

Meh, dropped it after the 4th episode. It started cool, but then it got way to Expositive for its own good, and from what I hear, it hasn't gotten much better since.
