And Nico B finished it.
Says its his favorite in the series in spite of everything.
Watch SymphogearWatching the LP again, does Tsumugi Shirogane qualify as a Straw Nihilist? She sure talks a lot like one during the trial.

Probably.
Also, Kodaka said people should play the prologue again after the ending and notice any differences you may find.

Does...does the prologue change? (Also, when did he say that?)
Also for Shirogane...I think she's whatever you might call this:

Oh God! Natural light!Chapter 6 featured the initial prologue in it as a flashback.
Look at the backgrounds and the floor of both versions. The version in chapter 6 looks eerily similar to Tsumugi's Ultimate lab.
Watch Symphogear...Ooooooooooooh shiiiiiiiiiiiiit.
Does anyone have a picture comparison?

Oh God! Natural light! If I recall, it's more of a flashback for the player's benefit - the characters don't see it.
But if I also recall correct, the "Yay, we got selected!" dialogue does not actually occur in the prologue (which was why I asked if it had changed - I was wondering if the prologue changed after you beat the game, as like a bonus).
So perhaps it's meant to signify that Tsumugi's lying - she gives an explanation, and we get a flashback to accompany it, but the dialogue doesn't match what we saw, and the location wasn't where we were. The game is actively trying to lie to us, which really, makes perfect sense here.
Conclusion? I'd say that it's still a reality show (a lot of dialogue from Monokuma and the Monokubs hint at it, actually)...but nobody participated willingly, expected maybe for Tsumugi.
Of course, that just raises further questions.
Oh God! Natural light! There's also the fact that the Shuicihi, Kaede, and Kaito in their audition videos can't be the real ones, because with Shuichi, he name was blurred as if he never knew his real name, but in the prologue, even before the first flashback light, he still knew who he was and introduced himself as Shuichi Saihara, which counters the idea of his name being fictional.

Watch Symphogear...Huh. Never noticed that somehow.
Of course, videos can be edited, so that's not that hard to square away - you can easily say that Tsumugi just did that to fuck with them (also, only Shuichi's has him say his name.)
Oh God! Natural light!![]()
Yes, there's that.
Of course, if we take the flashback we receive in Chapter 6 at face value, than one might conclude that the prologue was edited so that we don't see everyone get excited or something like that. If there's not a spot where that could have conceivably been edited out of, though (like, Kaede starts narrating where it would have gone or something like that), then that's really just cheating.
And then there's the question of why they would need to kidnap them to begin with. That might suggest that it's actually really fucking illegal...which raises the question of how they're getting away with it, and how everyone's still such a huge fan of something that's...well, a fucking crime. Really, it's the prologue that raises the biggest questions here, and I must say, if you're writing a prequel (or a sequel) fic like me that takes the revelations at face value (because that does make for an interesting story), what happens in the prologue either needs some crazy explanation or just to be flat-out ignored.
I wouldn't necessarily say that - just what the hell is happening in the final trial, then?

Oh God! Natural light!I'm conflicted. On one hand, I despise "Plot twist except not really" on principle but on the other hand I don't have any particular attachment towards the twist in the first place so eh...
However I will say that casting doubt on your twist and then having no intention on following up is being incredibly irresponsible as a writer.

I enjoy it for thematic reasons, mostly, and I think it could make for some really interesting character studies. I'd like for these to be explored in the future, if they can be.
(Also, I will defend leaving things open-ended for others to follow up on - there is no "responsibility" demanded here, no rules that are being broken).

Yeah being open is fine, that was poor choice of words on my part. What I mean is that if a twist works by itself within the context of the story, then backpedaling out of it is pointless and adds nothing to the story. If the intention is to save it for a sequel, then that's one thing, but without that it just adds a pointless mystery that you may as well ignore.
@Very Melon: He is a Metal Gear fan. Only thing he didn't like from that series was the Liquid Ocelot bullshit, and thought the idea of Junko being reborn in Komaeda's arm in a similar fashion as stupid.

Hmm...you seem to be right about that, just going by the prologue. Though one might argue that there could be time between when we fade to black and when the Flashback Light sequence starts. I don't want to go trawling through Chapter 6 just to find the scene, though - does anyone have a link to it in a video or something?
My personal theory is that They really are on a reality show, and their backstories and memories were indeed fabricated for that purpose. However, their personalities and names are intact, as seen by the prologue, and they were not willing participants. Question is what's with the audition tapes though?
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonPerhaps Tsumugi actually can disguise herself as real people. Alternatively, more robots! Or maybe it's all VR again.
Of course, this just raises the questions I asked earlier - if it's a reality show that they didn't willingly sign on for...then what, does the government just let them kidnap random teenagers to kill? If so...why?
Oh God! Natural light!Dunno if I mentioned it here, but I like the idea that Tsumugi was lying that Danganronpa was fiction. It was a real event that happened, then after the whole Ultimate Despair was wrapped up and everyone got peaceful, they started yearning for the kind of excitement the Killing Games had. So people started reenacting them - illegally of course - for so long that the times it happened for real it just blended with fiction, explaining why Tsumugi can disguise herself as them. The reason she claimed to be a "copycat killer" was true, in that what she was doing was very very illegal, and so many others have done it before her.
But that'd sort of defeat the purpose of the twist?
Actually, slightly unrelated point: If everyone was a fake, then there would've be no real Kaede and so Tsumugi wouldn't have gotten Cospox from dressing up as her. Dunno if that's relevant though.

And I see the games plot as Metal Gear Solid 2 but with more vaginas.
