Nice! With that paint-scheme, those Sisters kinda look like they might be female Space Marines from your Chapter. Speaking of which, the most recent volume of 28-mag featured the results from a community-competition to make artwork of female Space Marines.

Thanks[tup] They're actually meant to be allies for my planned Black Templars Crusade.

Double post for a Storm Lords Tactical Marine that I painted last month. While still a little messy, I am happy with how the Chapter symbol turned out.

Those are all colours that are notoriously difficult to paint well. The red and white in particular look good. [tup]

Thanks[tup] While white & yellow can be a bit of a pain, I've never really had much issue with red personally.

For some projects I've had issues with red paint being too transparent, just like yellow and showing too much of the primer underneath.

I've recently continued with my terrain crafting, making a fourth tower and some more trees. I wish I would have more time to set aside properly for painting miniatures, but I seldom have the opportunity to do so uninterrupted for extended periods. But crafting is thankfully something I can often do in small chunks and quickly set aside, even on short notice.

Thanks! I intend to use the same techniques for making an Ent/Treant. smile

I quite like the contrast between the copper and the green with your Necrons. Although I'd like to see a bit more different shades of bronze mixed into it, on highlights and such. Mostly subtle variations of bronze and copper and in-between, but it might even look good to mix in a few select elements in brass.

[up]Thanks.[tup] I will admit that I am not great at highlighting larger metal areas (particularly ones that aren't silver), which is a bit of an issue as I do like models painted in metallic paints[lol] I always strive for improvements though and will see what I can do on the next time my hobby butterfly nature lands on a Necron model.

I was quite unsure about where to post this, since we don't have any other thread specifically for painting, converting or collecting tabletop miniatures. In recent months there has been a lot of buzz about Army Painter's new Speedpaints line, especially how it might function as a cheaper alternative to Citadel's Contrast Paints. Dana Howl has made a few videos already on the subject, but here is an in-depth comparison between *all* the paints in each range. Even though she leans slightly in favour of Contrast Paints when it comes to mixing effects, Speedpaints is the cheaper alternative and something I'll probably buy at some point.

[up] Just be careful - I saw a video showing that they do not mix well with other paints that are put over them, or even varnishes. Apparently something about them causes them to reliquify to some degree and mix with paints and varnishes that are put over them. I'll see if I can find the video in my YouTube history showing that.

EDIT: Here's the video; he starts talking about [up] around the 6:15 mark.

[up]Thanks for the heads-up. I don't think it will necessarily be an issue with my style of painting, but it is good to know if it reacts like that. One reason I've looked forward to buying these is that the result is quite close to GW's discontinued inks.

Recently, I have been painting some Plague Marines to bring two of my squads up to 10 men each. This is one of my favourites.

I like the rust and verdigris on his armour, which looks quite disgusting.

Thanks[tup] I always worry that a go a bit overboard with the verdigris.

Painting has recently been especially difficult, but I managed to finish the paintjob on a conversion I made several months ago already. With lots of green-stuff I turned a dwarven rifleman from Mantic into Flintlocke from the webcomic Flintlocke's Guide to Azeroth.

I hope to make more Warcraft-based conversions soon, because I've been gradually collecting miniatures from RuneWars, Reaper, Mantic and Frostgrave to go along with my Warhammers.

Thank you kindly! smile

This project was a bit difficult, because the lighter green stuff was a bad batch that stayed sticky for a longer time. The bits with more unevenly blue shade were from a really old batch, that I'm trying to finish up before I open up a new long package.

I always try to skulp something out of greenstuff if i made way more than what i need (also known as everytime i use greenstuff) and i never get anywhere close to the shape i actually want. So you have my highest admiration for your work.

I have started collecting the Warhammer 40k Imperium magazine. Space marines arent the most interesting thing for me, but i really like the necrons. Especially since its quite easy to put the close-range units into my d&d games with only a bit of handwaving. Im quite pleased how this Overlord turned out as my first painted Necron (just need to cleanup the base). I will probably redo the scythe at some point, after i figured out how to do a "cloudy" effect, immediatly after i was done with everything except to orbs.

Either way, it makes that Necron lord look like mighty a Galactic Conqueror, literally grabbing a planet like a cosmic supervillain would. It helps that the paintjob makes him look like the live-action Skeletor in his gold armour. cool

Double Post for my version of Lord Inquisitor Kyria Draxus. While her cloak didn't quite turn out how I had hoped, it ended up better than I expected.

The cloak looks like it's made from some type of shimmering fabric, that look different depending on from where the light hits it.
