It's funny when it happens to someone you don't care about.
Heck, classic oldies like America's Funniest Home Videos was more or less built on this.
Disgusted, but not surprisedThis is pretty universal. The only difference is the degree. We all have a different threshold at which we find the pain of other people no longer funny. It also depends on how sympathetic we find the other people.
For example, if a complete asshole gets hurt doing something stupid, wouldn't you at least chuckle a little?
Really, if the pain of others being played for laughs makes you uncomfortable, you wouldn't be able to enjoy most comedic works.

Disgusted, but not surprisedHard to say, it kinda depends on several things. Like first most is whether they are seriously hurt or not.(like even in cartoon shows I tend to enjoy slapstick only if it doesn't affect characters that much, if they seem seriously hurt by it I don't really get what is supposed to be funny) If not, then after that depends on stuff like whether I personally know them or not since schadenfraude is best enjoyed among people you know
(seriously, I don't have lot of memories about finding other people's pain funny. At most I can recall stuff like laughing WITH(instead of at) people about pain they are feeling they themselves are laughing at or "Oh god that's horrifying" type of laughter you do as reaction to stuff that is just grossly terrifying
)
Like I said, the threshold is different for everyone. Some people are able to laugh at the gags in stuff like Family Guy or Southpark. Others just cringe.
And I'm not saying that one or the other is wrong to react that way.
Heck, there's probably at least one person out there who would cringe at the stuff you find funny.

Disgusted, but not surprisedYou all got wrong. Final Space can be serious (and it is), but it also has some humor in it. It's not like it's 99% serious and 1% funny or the other way around; there must be a balance.
Anyway, why nobody talks about Avocato? He is back! But severely amnesiac...
"Scooby Dooby Doo!"![]()
"You just cannot stop hurting the Dewinters."
"It's not like I'm trying!"
He's probably the only person more unfortunate than Gary himself in the main cast. That "The Other Side" episode was particularly grueling for him.
The sheer Psychological Horror of it all...the loneliness, the self-loathing, conversations with dead and imaginary people...

Disgusted, but not surprisedSo is Sheryl Goodspeed a Resentful Guardian as of the recent episode?
And would she be Unintentionally Unsympathetic?
Yeah, no one in the show acts as if she's a good guy. The last episode flat-out shows us she's not meant by the writers to be a good sympathetic person, quite the opposite.
Prettiest Meta Knight Gijinka, ngl

International folks get season 1 on Netflix. US guys gotta settle for VRV...
