Oh, if you are so inclined to see the apology, here's a reupload
.
Between the rock of supporting Somerton financially and the hard place of discussing his apology video without actually seeing it, I'd be much more comfortable with seeing it, but without seeing his monetized video.
So, with some of his videos back up it's interesting to see which of his videos I've actually watched. The only one I remember distinctly is one on JK Rowling and her TERF-dom but it seems I got halfway through a video on Everything Everywhere All At Once and have no recollection of it.
Curious to see why I didn't bother finishing it as I was absolutely voraciously absorbing everything (everywhere, all at once) I could find about that movie.
It's a waste of time, but so is discussing it. And if you're going to discuss it, I just think it's a moral obligation to watch the thing being discussed.

I distinctly remember his JK Rowling video rubbing me the wrong way, in that he very much comes off as 'stereotypical liberal Harry Potter fan', right down to making a bunch of weird strained analogies and comparing IRL shitty people (namely Rowling) to Voldemort.
In retrospect, it felt very "how do you do, fellow nerds?". All the more gratingly insincere knowing... everything we know about him.

...Wow.
About a month ago, YandereDev, the infamous "developer" of Yandere Simulator released a terrible apology video in regards to his grooming allegations.
When I watched that video I thought, well, this is the worst apology video of 2024 so far...but I did NOT expect a worse one to pop up in the very next month, holy shit.
And as for the title...to quote Harry himself in the famous video, James, what were you thinking? What was your plan?!

Continuously reading, studying, and (hopefully) growing.Jessie Gender has uploaded a video discussing James' apology. I have only begun to watch it so I cannot tell you what her thoughts are:
EDIT: So, I'm about half-way through the video now. It's honestly disgusting that James framed Jessie's pushback on his comment that Nebula didn't have queer content creators - something which is demonstrably untrue by the way - as her getting her audience to harass him and Nick, even going so far as to say that one member of her audience 'allegedly' said they would claim he sexually assaulted them. And of course this caused his audience to harass and go after her. All of this for someone that she had been supportive of, shouted-out as a fellow content creator in at least one video, and even tried to get him into contact with people that could've helped him get on Nebula.

Somerton's apology is up to 100k views so he's making a pretty tidy chunk of change off of his apology so that's... something.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them. The fact that he monetizes his apology is pretty damn disgusting and proof that he learnt absolutely nothing. James knows exactly what he's doing, and he's getting those outrage clicks.
I wish people would just stop giving him attention and let him fade into obscurity like he deserves.

We could talk about something else here then, instead of giving Somerton attention. From what I know, his following has hit rock bottom, and with people remembering him for who he is, I don't think it's gonna rise anytime soon.
Hbomb said that he doesn't like making big takedown videos of other content creators - hence why he decided to donate all the revenue from the Plagiarism video to creators that Somerton stole from. What do you folks think his next video is gonna be? Is Hbomb ever gonna upload another video that's shorter than one hour?
If it disagrees with experiment, it's wrong. His last video under an hour was The War on Christmas: A Measured Response but even that's just 6 minutes and 2 seconds shy of the hour mark
His next 2 are a year before that with his scan line video and his video on climate denial
I think it's safe to say we are not getting videos under an hour anymore
Roblox Oof was only supposed to be thirty minutes!

...and then... things happened....
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Plus his videos on media topics tend to be even longer (I will admit I still haven't watched Deus Ex: Human Revolution is FINE, And Here's Why despite having played that game multiple times, because three and a half hours).
If you go back a few years his videos were consistently shorter, despite being pretty much the same style, but there's a definite trend with the recent ones. I guess having a good Patreon income means he knows he can take as long as he wants to make the videos, which leads to them getting longer. Maybe if he tries to get videos out more often.

James' new Patreon rocking 3 paying members so far.
