The FE comparison makes little sense anyway. Marth, Lucina, and Roy play similar. The other 3 characters are completely different. It's like having Ryu, Ken, Akuma(who all share the same style with slight variation, Akuma being the most varied), Chun Li, Dhalsim, and E. Honda as the Street Fighter selection.
As for Ryu having two more different styles, that's only if they plan to have a ton of SF characters in with unique playstyles. And also have a limited roster to a fairly severe degree. It's pretty easy to throw in Akuma separately otherwise. Likewise, I wouldn't mind if they did more alternate transformations like Ryu's for other clones if it fits. Shadow Lady, Mecha Zangief, Lilith... it'd mostly give neat options while not making the roster too huge. I only worry about balance.
Shadow? In Mv C 3, Capcom included both Ryu and Akuma, but made them as distinct as possible. They also included both Wolverine and X-23 with distinct movesets. If they choose to include both Spider-Peter and Spider-Gwen, I can imagine them doing the same.
Given enough creativity, any character can be made completely unique. My point with Spider-Gwen was more that it was very non-obvious than completely unfeasible. If they can squeeze her in in a way that differentiates her sufficiently from Spidey then I'm up for it.
They've noted they didn't want assists specifically because several characters tended to be valued more for their assists than for their movesets. They really want a game where the entire roster can be viable.

Yeah that. MvC1 had super obscure characters like Lou and Devilotte. It was a cool way to cameo the characters who would never get a shot. It's the only way we'd see Breath of Fire's Ryu, anyway.
Gotta be honest, the lack of assists at all feels crippling. If they did like Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, where it's 2v2 and every character has one assist, I think they could maintain the balance. Having someone jump in with a quick attack instead of having Haggar or Doom with broken assists I get removing, because it turns matches into rounds of bouncing around trying to get away from them, but it's disappointing nonetheless that they threw the baby out with the bathwater.
If they really wanted another Spider character with a different move set. Why not include Miles Morales. He has all of Peter's powers plus Venom Shock and camouflage. They call also make a joke about him vs Chun Li seeing as he stole her super move once.

I took this to mean they didn't want characters like Captain Commando, characters that were generally considered to suck but had assists good enough to warrant picking them anyway.
And if they went with say, Agent Venom, he'd be even more dissimilar to Peter. Though given that they've finally made Venom a bad guy again in the comics, my guess is we could see classic evil Venom in Infinite since Capcom wanted him in MVC 3 and Marvel said no.
Depending on the number of characters, I'd imagine Venom and Spider-Gwen are the more likely candidates. Venom because he is legit Spider-Man's most popular villain and Spider-Gwen because she's arguably received the most Wolverine Publicity of any of the spinoff characters in the comics lately.
I actually do think Deadpool and Doom will both make the cut, even if the rumors are true. Deadpool is just that much of a money maker.
Hardest part is guessing how many characters will actually be in the vanilla game though. Especially given how Capcom handled Street Fighter V. If I had to make a guess, I'd probably go 15-18 reps from each camp, not counting DLC. For the base game my predictions are:
Marvel: Ant Man, Black Widow, Black Panther, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Dr. Strange, Groot, Hawkeye, Hulk, Iron Man, Rocket Raccoon, Scarlet Witch, Spider-Man, Thor, Vision
And then there will be DLC packs "themed" around certain types of characters. Defenders (Luke Cage, Iron Fist), Fox (Wolverine, Deadpool, Dr. Doom), Spider-Man (Venom, Spider-Gwen).

Marvel has also been pushing Miles pretty hard (the whole reason the new Secret Wars happened was basically to get him into the 616-verse) so I think he's got the edge over Gwen. He also has a stinger ability that Peter lacks that I can see being useful.
Silk isn't so likely, as Marvel pushing her happened is in spite of fan reception (though she was Rescued from the Scrappy Heap) in contrast to Spider-Gwen who was an Ensemble Dark Horse from the getgo.

What do you guys think of Original Generation characters make an appearance? Like Ruby Heart, Son Son and Amigo in mvc2?

They really didn't. Not any more differently than Ken plays from Ryu prior to V, anyway. We really don't need clones in a game when each side has so many choices.
