Who would you want to do a story about characters crossing over without it being seen as an afterthought?
Grant Morrison maybe, but he’d turn it into an essay of sorts about the effects other mediums have on comics, which could be dull, or completely awesome when Morrison has Asura fight Galactus or something.
Out-there thought: if we don't want to take the crossover too seriously, someone like Ryan North.
Asura fight Galactus
I want to see that so badly now.
I still want to know what kind of mindset they had with that.
Yea, but that would imply someone at Marvel would actually spend 10 mins to try to understand any of the Capcom characters. These last 2 MVC games shows that they really don't care. Probably the biggest difference between MVC & Smash Bros.
FYI, your ideas are still great.
Marvel just did that. It was weird & I only like Arachknight.
Also, really not Dante X Deadpool?
Deadpool had the most in-game quote by far. So who had the most dialogue from the Capcom side? Was it Dante, Viewtiful Joe, or Phoenix Wright? Nope, it was Spencer for some stupid reason.
Not to mention the Marvel side had better dialogues in general. No bias detected there.
*sigh* It just wasn't meant to be.
Who's dat?
A hilarious writer who went from making his web comic Dinosaur Comics to writing The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl.
Looks like EVO 2019 is starting today. I guess we'll see soon enough if those Marvel vs. Capcom 4 rumors have any weight to them.

There’s no real desire from the assigned writers from what I saw to do anything with those characters. The premise of two world being forcibly fused together isn’t terrible on the surface. But like you noted, the writers were content to go through the motions. They started with the big battle on the assumption that the audience didn’t care about anything else, so writing it was unnecessary. They knew the Marvel characters, so they got all the good lines.
Spencer got lines because he was generic as all hell. That means there’s nothing to mess up in the portrayal, so he can do whatever the writers wanted him to do. Not so much if say, you had Morrigan as chaste or an X that was Ax-Crazy. To use examples of characters not in the game, Felicia interacting with the Guardians of the Galaxy should be way different than Zangief doing so.
If they were to try again, we have to be given a reason to care. And that means deeper writing, moments for both sides, etc.
Then again, if you rank the Capcom characters in Infinite's story in terms of importance: 1/2: Jedah, Dante 3: Mega Man X 4: Frank West 5: Morrigan 6: Chun-Li 7: Ryu 8: Sigma 9: Strider Hiryu 10: Spencer 11: Monster Hunter 12: Chris Reidfield 13: Haggar 14: Arthur 15: Zero 16: Firebrand 17: Nemesis When Arthur's getting more to do than ZERO...there's a problem.
Jedah and Dante were really the only Capcom characters used very well in the story, I like X getting the Infinity Buster but he really didn’t do all that much else. I mean they couldn’t even just give him a fight against Zero, had to shoehorn in Rocket. :p
I feel like I honestly wouldn’t mind if another Mv C story mode just, embraced the cheese, the plot could make no sense but give some fun interactions and it would carry it. Jedah’s actor was clearly milking the script for all it was worth and having fun with it, and the fact he sparked the story by basically having Death cheat on Thanos just added to it. Like his scenes were genuinely enjoyable to me because of how perfectly over the top him and his role in the story was.
They need to just embrace the inherent cheese of a crossover like this if they’re going to do a story
Ultron was boring...
Mileena MadnessX5
Thanks for the answer.
This is going to sound insulting but it's not that hard to look up what these characters all about. I'm not joking when I say it's takes about 10 mins to look these guys up. You don't have to give Joe as many dialogues as Wade, but that doesn't mean he should only have 4 specific dialogues either.
My favorite dialogues is Joe & Nova. No one is giving a special treatment in that interaction.
Yea, that was really bad.
The only moments I genuinely enjoy were X throwing Cap's shield, Ryu & Hulk teaming up, Dante beating Jedah, Iron Man siccing Frank at Thanos, & X being the one to finish off Ultron Sigma. Those were pretty much the only reasons why I like the story more than I have the right to.
Also they really need keep Kaye as Jedah. The fact he can match Jedah's seiyuu maniac laugh is more than justified that.
Honestly, most Marvel villains come across to me as Dr. Doom wannabes. The more interesting ones come from the X-Men & the fun ones come from Spider-Man.
Destructor Asura vs. Lifebringer Galactus by Grant Morrison would ahve been fucking awesome.
Watch SymphogearBut Asura wouldn't be fighting Lifebringer Galactus.
If anything else, I imagine they would team up occasionally
100% agree. I wish Sigma was in the story mode more too since when you look at his gameplay, (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c02RoXB0hqQ) Chris is having almost just as a blast as Jedah's VA
If I had to lowkey make the next MVC game X-Men: Wolvie, Mag, Gambit and Psylocke (Storm too unless there's a quota not to have too much overshadowing) Spider Man; Spidey, Venom, Doc Ock and Green Goblin.
Agreed on that! Sigma’s voice actor seems like he’s REALLY enjoying the role and honestly his voice lines were a big part of why I enjoyed playing him so much lol.
It's time to retire Chris. Long live Leon.
Are we talking about Chris Tergliafera?
We can never truly eradicate the coronavirus, but we can suppress its threat like influenzaResident Evil, unless there's a voice actor named Leon I don't know about.
Leon is way overdue to be in a VS game.
I'd take Leon over Chris, Asura over Haggar, Edward Falcon over Firebrand, Jack Baker over Nemesis...wait didn't MODOK say he wanted to experiment on Nemesis in 3....well I guess he got his wish. Who would've you wanted over Frank West (if you want, I'm mixed on him) and Arthur?
Leon and Claire along with Mr. X were face first in the remake of RE 2. They should be priority especially given how well it sold.
And PC mods can finally have Mr. X’s theme be “X gon give it to ya.”
Captain Commando, Jin, or Phoenix Wright.

Oh yeah I forgot Spencer existed...yeah Captain Commando makes much more sense to replace him. Thanos was a MVC 2 return, Capcom needed one, he's from the future so he actually has a stake in the story, and he's a superhero. They could even make a arcade ending where Viewtiful Joe joins him as compensation for him not being there.
Also, anyone else found it weird Groot's in Rocket's moveset but not in the story? Like at least DBFZ had the rest of the Ginyu Force talking, hell, I didn't even know Groot had a voice actor in it till I looked it up.
Captain Commando, Asura, Gene, Ammy, V. Joe, they're a must to me.
We can never truly eradicate the coronavirus, but we can suppress its threat like influenza
There was a comic bundled with the special edition of MVC 3, but it was embarrassingly bad.
