My only problem with the Fantastic Four having slots to themselves is the Thing is pretty much a clone of the Hulk in terms of fighting style.
Which is why i would prefer Grimm to be paired up with Reed.
Someone suggested the Ginyu Force approach, and that could definitely work. Have Reed be point and everyone else comes in. It could actually make him something of a Dhalshim expy with Johnny bringing the Yoga fire and Sue using invisibility to “teleport” him.
Thing could turn out to be quite a bit different from the Hulk, depending on what they emphasize. For instance, we often see him use wrestling techniques to handle even-super-stronger-than-him opponents, so he could be more of a grappler.
He was a wrestler in the comics for awhile, so that could work.
Thing also tends to be smaller than the Hulk, so he could be a less extreme option, allowing them to pump up Hulk's strength even more in response. Or, since Thing is made of rock, they could make him more of a defensive fighter to contrast Hulk's offensive power.
In that case, I'm perfectly fine with the Fantastic Four having four character slots. It's not like anyone's clamoring for Zangief to join.
No, I'm in the "F4 as Ginyu Force" gang.
Having both Thing and Hulk on the roster would be even better if the game had a Skullgirls-style scaling system, I think, because you could make them feel even more different in a hypothetical story or arcade mode by presenting the Hulk as an unstoppable monster that goes 1v3 against anyone.
I really did like that mechanic in Skull Girls & Tekken Tag 2. Although apparently it was broken in Tag 2.
I keep forgetting that. None of the Marvel's Mighty Glacier's ever focus on grappling. Unless you want to count Colossus & Hulk. Point is, Ben can bring something unique to the table if they focus on his street fighting & wrestling style.
That didn't work so well with Creel
But.....I like the Red Cyclone
Why does no 1 ever remembers Captain Commando?
Anyways, I pick Reed to be the main rep for F4 because he's the unique of them. A lot people keep focusing on his elastic abilities but Reed is more known for being the smartest guy in Marvelverse so they should focus more on his invention than anything else. That & he can also work like Captain Commando so F4 can still be his assist.
Not that much older. Captain Ginyu was using the whole Ginyu Force as assist characters back in Supersonic Warriors in 2004.
MVC 1 was back in the 90's & Super Sonic Warrior wasn't exactly your standard fighting game.
On Thing's experience with wrestling, having The Champion as a playable character would be fun.
MVC1 was in 1998, that's only six years between that game and Supersonic Warriors. Captain Commando still came out first, but the gap isn't as big as it is between it and Fighterz.

Is it too hard to pull a MVC 2 and bring back every character that's been in a 3D MVC and a couple newcomers?
If 4 played really similarly to 3 and they wanted to push something out quickly, maybe.
I don't think that'd be good for the game in the long run since we still probably wouldn't get too many new characters that way.
Watch MVC4 pull a Smash Ultimate and bring back EVERYONE who has ever been in the series.
A game that effectively only had 5 new characters at launch.
I'd be cool with it if they really brought it in the feature department otherwise.
shows "EVERYONE IS HERE!" over Marrow
Like, the whole series. Including everyone from before it was Marvel vs Capcom, back when it was only X-Men vs Street Fighter.
That's not going to happen. There's something like 30 characters they'd need to make models for.
They could bring everyone back from MVC 3 & Infinite & people would still be upset.
The lack of 90's X-Men, more MCU, old fan favorites like Jin & Cap Commando, & Capcom's new ip isn't going to fly by this time around.
Mvc 2 did bring back everyone that was in the series at the time so MVC already did it. Of course, it's much easier with sprites.
That's not what I've been hearing lately.
Apparently it's more time consuming when it comes making sprites from scratch compare to 3D models
I think they meant when Capcom was getting the roster for MvC2, they just took assets from their previous Marvel games for the veterans so they'd have time to squeeze then-newcomers like Tron Bonne and Jill.
