I just got Marth, and I want to get the other Fire Emblem ones, Link, and maybe Zelda. I love the detail and articulation, but unfortunately, I found out the interchangeable parts mean that it's easy to snap off one piece when you're trying to put another on. Anyone else have this problem? It's the same with the Figma figures as well.
Use the stand as support, perhaps?
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotx2 Usually, I have the impression that if part of a Nendoroid falls off way too easily, it might be a fake. (Other clues: Shoddy/glossy paint job, shady purchase sources, being dirt-cheap...)
Well, I rarely bring my Nendoroids out of their boxes, so I have no idea if the interchangeable parts falling off too easily would also apply to my own Nendoroids.
Then again...I do recall that the muskets on my Mami Nendoroid were kinda difficult to keep on her hand/s since the connector peg is really small. More so for her Tiro Finale BFG (though it does have its own stand to compensate). I guess that's the reason why the Kurumi Nendoroid's muskets already have a hand attached, so one can switch hands instead of attaching the muskets via a peg that may or may not hold.
The only advice I could give is to be really careful when interchanging parts so they won't wear out too easily.
And...some good news: I went to the Ozine Fest Anime Figure Special, bringing along the two Nendoroids with uncertain authenticity, and...I found out from the folks that had a toy display there (fellow figure fans, basically) that they were actually genuine. (Phew.)
And the shop that I got it from—despite not being listed on Good Smile Company's official partner shops—has actually been around since the Nendoroid toy line began and were probably one of the first distributors of Nendoroids here in the Philippines. I still don't know why they were de-listed (or if they were there to begin with), but I'm assuming that it's because of the presence of bigger competitors/distributors in the market (the ones currently on the list).
"Learn as if you will live forever, live as if you will die tomorrow."Decided to take out my old Mami Nendoroid and my newer Kurumi Nendoroid out of their boxes to make some comparisons of their interchangeable parts. (And have a little fun posing the two in a—lopsided?—Mexican Standoff.)
I also realized that only one of Mami's smaller muskets can be held in her hand, as the other three muskets are basically display pieces for her "Unlimited Musket Works". And the two connection points for her Tiro Finale BFG are a portion of the stand, and a hand piece with a really small clear peg that fits to her right arm (that may have a risk of breaking). While the BFG can be supported by her free left hand, it still looks rather unwieldy at times.
That said, I do worry about one problem that has plagued not only my Mami Nendoroid, but also the other older Nendoroids I got before Takao and Kurumi—the sticky feeling of the plastic. Before anyone has any perverted ideas...
Unfortunately, that may have stemmed from a mistake I made long ago where my Nendoroids were put in a place in my room directly exposing them to the sun and I didn't have a proper display case to store my Nendoroids. (Not to mention rarely bringing my Nendoroids out of their boxes.) While my newer Nendoroids now avert being exposed to the sun, my older Nendoroids now have this sticky feeling and plastic-y smell to them whenever I bring them out of their boxes. (It doesn't help that my palms get sweaty at times whenever I change parts on my Nendoroids.)
Is there a way to clean off that sticky feeling to the plastic without possibly messing up the paintjob on my older Nendoroids? I've seen a couple of videos that suggest washing them with warm water mixed with a bit of dishwashing soap then rinsing, but I'm unsure if the dishwashing soap formulas used in some of the local brands are similar to the ones used in those videos, as I fear that the local dishwashing brands might be too strong and royally mess up the paintjob. (Perhaps—imported?—liquid hand soap may be a decent alternative?)
"Learn as if you will live forever, live as if you will die tomorrow."The official Good Smile guide seems to say as much.
You should be safe - dish soap isn't really capable of stripping tampos (what the facial details are) unless you scrub really hard on them for some reason.
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotI've only got the Colossal Titan (360) and Sakura Miku (499).
Miku has been posed with her sake bottle and drunk-as-a-skunk face on my desk at work since I got her. She looks far too happy to be surrounded by financial reports, but I figure that's what got her drinking in the first place.
i. hear. a. sound.Slight nitpick after doing a search:
Wait, wasn't Nendoroid number 499 "Sakura Mikudayo-"? (Based on that memetic full-body mascot costume of Miku.) Nendoroid number 500, though... I guess I can see what you mean with that "drunk-as-a-skunk" face... (though it's more of a "pleasantly drunk" face, to be honest)...
Anyway, don't sweat it if your collection is just the one Nendoroid of your favorite character or a small bunch. Every collection usually starts small.
"Learn as if you will live forever, live as if you will die tomorrow."Thanks to this thread, I now have an interest in these figures. Particularly the Mega Man, Captain America, Super Mario Bros, and Metal Gear Solid ones.
I noticed there's a lot of anime figures, but sadly none of my favorite series. I did see the Mickey Mouse figure, though. Wonder if they'll do anything for the upcoming Duck Tales series?
Weird in a Can (updated M-F)I just got Sheeda (aka Caeda in the English translation). She looks great mounted on her pegasus, but I can't seem to get any of her hand pieces to grip her lance. I also had a bit of fun with the interchangeable parts and switched her head with Marth's. Sheeda's head on Marth's body gives you something similar to what a Lucina Nendoroid would look like, if they ever made one.
Detailed description of the figurine series here.
They're (kinda) like those Troll dolls back in the 90s, but way cuter, slightly bigger, and pricier.
List your current Nendoroid collection here, discuss upcoming Nendoroids, what Nendoroids you'd want to have, how to spot a bootleg one...as long as it's about those cute little things, it's welcome here.
