If we get a season 4 I imagine Amelia and Hazel are going to be the main characters.

If you ask me, putting the show on HBOMax was the worst decision they could have made. I do kind of understand why they did it— being on a streaming platform allowed them to make Season 3 Darker and Edgier than would have been possible on Cartoon Network.

The problem is, HBOMax doesn't have the brand-name recognition of, say, Netflix or Disney+. Not many people are willing to pay for a subscription to it for just one show, especially since the platform currently doesn't have much to offer otherwise. So a series on HBOMax will inevitably get less exposure and less views than one on cable, or one of the bigger streaming services like Netflix.

I'm a huge Infinity Train nut, and even I haven't seen the third season yet, simply because I didn't think it was worth it to get HBOMax.

I dont agree. CN barely has over 500k viewers right now. For better or worse HBO Max is the best fighting chance the show has.

EDIT:Holy shit! I mean Holy Fucking Shit! I just saw a key scene and it was UTTERLY MESSED UP. You win Troper who said this was too dark. You WIN.

Except, as I mentioned, HBOMax has yet to prove itself to be competitive with other, larger streaming services, and it has far fewer subscribers than Netflix or Disney+. Moving Infinity Train to HBOMax may have allowed the series more creative freedom, but it might have also cost it much of its audience.

Cartoon Network also has a history of mistreating action/adventure cartoons, and sometimes they air them at times where it is impossible to maintain a strong viewership.

Not to mention the show was originally meant for HBO Max before it got moved to CN.

Cartoon Network also has a history of mistreating action/adventure cartoons, and sometimes they air them at times where it is impossible to maintain a strong viewership.

Hence why I said that, in theory, HBOMax would be a better place for Infinity Train. The problem is that HBOMax focuses on marketing things people can get via TV or other methods, rather than exclusives, which it has very few of, so it doesn't get as much attention as other streaming services.

Holy hell. I can't believe they pulled it off, but season three's ending was even better than two's. So emotional, so complex, so dark, so cathartic. After setting up the train's workings at the climax of the first two seasons, this one just let us go straight character drama.

Simon's death was...god, probably the darkest thing I've seen on a nominally-kid's show ever. Such a gruesome death happening to such a human character, and not some supernaturally evil Big Bad, makes it even more shocking. Simon's human nature, the fact that he started out as a relatively ordinary person at the beginning of the series, that he could have chosen redemption but didn't, makes his death incredibly tragic. Well-done, Infinity Crew, well done.

I'm honestly said not to see the end of Hazel's story after all that poor kid's been through...I'm hoping we do.

Yeah. Grace's story arc was handled well But her number is so low that IDK why they didn't even imply her being ready to leave. But Hazel's story BEGS for a Season 4 to resolve it, and I'm highly worried we won't get it.

It was... mixed bag to me.

On the one hand I really dig Grace's Character Development, even if I feel it's kinda rushed just before the finale. Not too bad, but huge flashback-bomb in 9th episode give her little to no time to properly process her feelings. Not a big problem at all, just nitpick. Ending was good, too.

On the other hand, tho I still think payoff was too small for that emotionally exhausting book. Poor Hazel is traumatised by, well, everything and travelling with her cold, emotionally distant mother/creator probably won't help. I know, their evolving relationship probably wiil be next season's main plot (fingers crossed for Book 4, i still LOVE Infinity Train as a whole), but for now it's merely Hope Spot. I think that poor girl is irreversebly broken by now. It's just too much for child that small.

As for Simon, I really can't' bring myself to care about that poor, dumb sociopath. There's no satisfaction in watching his death, he is just a broken child, but at the same time, I have no pity for him at all. I felt nothing watching him die. And it isn't good thing in storytelling.

Something I really do wonder? The series either resolves with Amelia's death, or her final departure from the train. I've kinda theorized the numbers being so high matters less than it might seem at first since it's proportional to someone's issues. Amelia seems stuck in a rut where she's convinced she can't repent, which means her number stays largely stays static.

Yeah I really hope the series gets popular enough for another season. Seasons 1 and 2 were such that I would have been satisfied if it ended there, but Season 3 kind of demands continuation for Hazel's story.

SO, am I the only one who gets a serious Anti vaxxer/conspiracy nut vibe from Simon? From the fact that the Idea of being wrong seems impossible to him, the way he discards new information as lies and manipulation to the words he uses. He seems a pretty obvious metaphor for people who refuse to change their mind in the face of overwhelming evidence to me.

You lost!

He says he's got stories for at least 5 more seasons. But it's still a matter of WarnerMedia writing a check. And speaking of money, he tweeted

Do not slide into my DM's and offer to work on the show for free.

What are you doing??? Don't do that! No job should be done for free.

Getting educated about the job happens whether you're a full time employee or an intern, so why would an intern be paid less?

As for season 3, I think the message was about dealing with your problems and mistakes (Grace), and doubling down on them (Simon).

Well I just saw this series a couple of weeks and.....damn is good, it is REALLY good.

I will said of all protagonists, Grace and Simon are the best with their weird disfuncional relationship and how they fed each other, I feel really bad for him because I kinda see myself in him: shy, reserved, withdraw and somewhat judgmental, I didnt want him to end that way but I didnt really see how it could end in any other way.

Also can we remove the mention of grace and simon as sociopaths in trope page? I feel people are misusing that word A LOT.
