That's a Secret Test of Character. Of course there are unwritten rules.
So, first, it's always good seeing Maya Rudolph. Second, I am pretty sure that there is a trick somewhere, and not because of the last second shuffle. I think there was more to their tests than what the judge eventually said, and that obviously Eleanor's is going to matter next time around.

I liked Michael's part, though. I was actually still not sure if I trusted him up till now.
I'm hoping it turns out that choosing to fail together instead of Eleanor going on when she got the chance is the actual test.
You need blood and he's got more than enough!According to Michael's essay about Les Mis it actually is how it works.
You need blood and he's got more than enough!I'm getting increasingly convinced that they'll eventually reform the system, as it's becoming more and more obvious how much of a mess it all is.

You need blood and he's got more than enough!"Maybe the real test is the friends we made along the way."
You need blood and he's got more than enough!I feel like Eleanor didn't actually pass her test. It was supposed to test her selflessness, but she "passed" by being clever enough to see through the fake Chidi rather than risking losing paradise for the sake of Jason and Tahani.
Count me in as a believer in the theory that the real test hasn't happened yet.
I'm still hoping that's the case. As I said before, I don't like how some of the tests we saw worked.
Then again I tend not to like the Secret Test of Character trope in general.
You need blood and he's got more than enough!Yeah, we know intent matters here, after all. Also, treating your sister like crap can't get you many good points either.
You need blood and he's got more than enough!I dunno, the fun of the Good Place is the point system is stupid.
It'd be hilarious if Tahani's parents are in the Good Place despite the fact they treated their daughter like crap.
"You did raise a terrible daughter in Tahani but DID raise an awesome one in her sister."
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Heh, don't knock it, by that logic Chidi has a solid argument for getting himself in.
"My classes taught a demon to sacrifice himself for others!"
You need blood and he's got more than enough!

Just saw the episode. I liked it, though I did find it a bit slower and less funny than the ones before it.
One thing does annoy me, though: Why did Jason fail his test? He did as he was asked. He didn't like it, and he complained a fair bit, but he did what he was asked even though he didn't really want to. How does that show poor impulse control? And he could have asked not to play, but he was never told that, and how does trying to get out of doing something you don't want to do show good impulse control? And since when can you just ask not to do an exam?
