I could totally believe that.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. You also ruined an acronym that very much needed to be ruined in the process. Real quick, what infamous organization does "K4K" look like?
All it takes is one guy making that connection and singing the infectious jingle to himself during a hooded meeting....
Petty revenge is the best kind of revenge.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Yeah, I no longer think Michael was replaced. Janet, on the other hand...
Eleanor's monologue about how she's just a girl from Arizona, not some savior of the universe, made me so sad.
And Michael's speech to her was so sweet.
I really love Tahani's and Jason's friendship.
When we're done, there won't be anything left.Best joke: Chidi getting hit on the head by his philosophy book right after he stopped trying to summon it
Eleanor's breakdown was definitely the saddest though I don't buy the idea that Michael genuinely faked the breakdown, that seems too much like 4-D Chess, I think Michael just had a Sure, Let's Go with That reaction.
I actually went to google if the Blake Bortles thing was true and lol I guess it was a happy accident for the writers when they were scripting season 4. It's a very Jason thing that this is what really gets him down in the dumps.
Giving Brent and Simone the idea of nothing to lose by being good definitely accredits the show's thesis on societal intersection with morality, though I wonder how they'll throw that idea to John.
Do we have to tag spoilers? I won't, but if you think it'll be better, I'll start.
Okay, so the episode was pretty strong. I laughed so hard at "I don't belong here." — Eleanor and Michael look proud and relieved and satisfied. — "Clearly, I belong to the Best Place." ![]()
Anyway, about Larkmarn's suggestion:
- First Neighborhood
- Second reboot
- Reboots 3-801
- Team Cockroach
- Soul Squad
This is mostly for my own benefit because I keep forgetting who should know what and wind up getting caught flatfooted or confused because of Audience Awareness Advantage and not realizing this version of the character doesn't know what a different version knew.
Would people find that useful/be willing to contribute?
I'd find that immensely useful. I'm just catching who remembers whom and which version of them from how certain characters react...

I was waiting for that. The second he started trying, I was like, "That book is going to smack him right in the face." It was the clear and correct punchline.
This did not detract in any way from how funny it was when it actually occurred.
Typical spoiler protocol is to tag spoilers for any knowledge of unreleased episodes. For instance, if the writer comes out and says "In five episodes, Tahani is going to turn into a prophecy-speaking giraffe," both the statement and any discussion of it should be spoiler-tagged.
As an addendum, if someone comes in and mentions that they're watching their way through the series for the first time, courtesy spoiler-tags of episodes that person has not yet reached are not required but I would still recommend them under the Don't Be A Dick policy.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.My favorite joke was "That's okay, that's just what motorcycles do." Jason had so many great lines this episode.
It's fun to see Tahani connect to a guy much more like her, right up to the name-dropping.
Michael almost definitely indulging himself in the office with Chidi by exploding the vase and Eleanor realizing that she's been torturing him was a fun parallel to Michael of the first two seasons.
It's interesting that there's a wide variety of environments on the railway besides just the desert seen in the last three seasons, otherwise there's not really much to speculate on the cliffhanger.

I have two guesses: Cersei and Sansa.
I'll play. Now, is it what Tahanni thinks, or what others have suggested? And was the list comprised before or after her death, and at which point of GoT?
Anyway:
- Cersei: the most beautiful woman of her generation
- Sansa: just generally gorgeous, long-suffering high-born girl who becomes The High Queen, taking care of her people
- Margaery: Young and hot queen doing charity (with hidden motives)
- Daenerys: Her quest for a better society (end of slavery), even if she can be condescending and narcissistic about the whole thing
- High Sparrow: Charity, feeding the poor.
- Arya: jealous of her sister, feelings she'll never be good enough compared to her, but they managed to reconcile
- Jon Snow: wants to be accepted and loved by his family
- Lyanna: tragic death while young
Anyway, I liked the episode well enough, but I wasn't as impressed or as amused as usually. My guess is it doesn't help that I keep expecting a twist, so I'm looking for clues and it takes some enjoyment out of it.
Props to Jason. It must be a huge pressure not to blab.
Jason was actually one of my favorite parts in the episode, besides the Tahani/John subplot.
He played his part super well, recognized that Chidi was too stressed out, and was smart enough to throw the lava stone without it being obvious that it was him.
Love to see how he and Chidi will play out in future episodes.
Yeah, Jason was on point this episode and it's great.
My favorite line of the episode was Chidi's "I made GOD cry?!?!" In all the reboots, never has there been a more perfect torture for him, and that one wasn't even on purpose.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I suspect Bad Janet is a Red herring and she's honestly that stressed with the work she has to do.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.I have no idea where the "Bad Janet secretly replaced Good Janet" theory even came from. We've seen Janet beat the shit out of the entire Bad Place crew simultaneously. Bad Janet can't even give directions without her entire skull melting from the contradiction of her existence. How exactly would she pull off the abduction/murder and replacement of "Handed Shaun his pasty corporate ass on two separate occasions" Janet?
At least the "Michael was secretly replaced" theory has some basis due to the show's establishment of a Michael Suit. It's still probably wrong; I don't think any of the Bad Place Demons could so effectively serve as a fountain of wisdom for Eleanor to draw from for this length of time; hell, in this episode, Michael is single-handedly responsible for getting Chidi back on track. But at least I can understand where it's coming from.
"Janet was replaced by Bad Janet" feels like a profound overestimation of Bad Janet's combat and acting capabilities.
Speaking of the recent episode
I just want to say I totally called it on Eleanor screwing up. I noted a couple weeks ago that Eleanor forgot to include the "Damned Soul has to fake belonging in the Good Place" element that she, herself, served in the original Neighborhood. By just telling everyone they're in heaven and to have fun, she failed to provide anybody in the new class (even Chidi!) with an impetus for the new class to improve.
She managed to fix that problem with Brent last episode by coming up with a new impetus, while Tahani's now figured out a different way to reach out to John. So things are starting to get back on track.
But I was very happy when she realized her cock-up with Chidi and went back to the "You have to hide me, I don't belong here!" well. Back in the old Neighborhood, Chidi wasn't holding ethics classes for his health; he was doing it because he had a moral imperative to save Eleanor from Hell. Having New Chidi shrug his shoulders and go, "Eh, might as well enjoy my afterlife!" was a foreseeable consequence of the failure to provide that conflict.
The old Neighborhood didn't inadvertantly improve its residents because it was a Fake Good Place. It improved its residents because it was a psychological torture device built in just such a way as to motivate Eleanor, Jason, and eventually Tahani and Michael to get over themselves and try to be better people. You gotta torture the new class just a little, and it's nice that Eleanor finally caught that.
At the same time, it's interesting that Eleanor went overboard with torturing Chidi. It turned into vindictiveness all too easily. The moment she was presented with that temptation, she fell back on old habits.
That's twice now that Eleanor's failed morally since this new experiment began. First in "Just a Girl from Arizona, Part II" by having a classic Eleanor Shellstrop ragequit meltdown at her team, and now by taking advantage of an opportunity to take disproportionate revenge against her ex for an imagined slight. And she's supposed to be one of the model Proofs of Concept from the original experiment. I wonder if that's going to come up in the Judge's ruling....

Yeah, I've been doing research into them since finding out about them. They resell the cars and then use the money to fund educational and development programs for Jewish kids.
They have two main sources of detractors. One group hates them because their jingle is an obnoxious Ear Worm that is catchy as f*ck and will never, ever leave your head. Like the charity commercial equivalent of Baby Shark.
The other group hates them for being Jewish, because of course they do. A lot of criticism is basically, "They didn't tell me they were helping JEWS. I wouldn't have donated money if I knew it was going to JEWS!"
The Good Place's writers are clearly in the first camp, given that the reference in question came in the form of literally singing the jingle.
