I am enjoying this show. I wasn't happy that he arrested the governor right after his aide had sweet talked him into giving the president a fair shake. I was disappointed. I do not trust Madsen at all!
The series continues to impress. Though I think Kirkman's Chief of Staff should have knocked him unconscious and told the governors the President was indisposed when he accepted to have his legitimacy questioned by them.
Heads are going to roll over Majid Nassar's death. This may set Kirkman and the plotters on a collision course.
"Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man; and his number is 0x29a."Saw a bit of this show. Getting some serious mountain lion vibes from the lead's wife and family.
Decided to give the show a chance over the weekend since the first five episodes were on abc.com.
I then proceed to binge watch all 5 of those episodes, and then bought episode 6 from Amazon because it turns out I really liked the show.
My guess is that we are headed for a gambit pileup in the mid season finale where President Kirkman has to fend off an attempt at impeachment from the rebuilt congress while simultaneously fending off an assassination attempt from the plotters. Or perhaps he'll narrowly avoid impeachment only for the plotters to try to assassinate him as a plan B. Which will of course be a mid-season cliffhanger.
I've been meaning to watch this. Glad to hear it's good.
I'll totally acknowledge that I might be a bit biased in favor of the series because it's in part about a person with zero aspirations of becoming President, becoming President of the United States. And given recent election that happened here in the real world...
The character is rather reactive in his approach. He doesn't want the job, but all the idiots undermining him at it make him fight for it very firmly. Yet whether power-hunger is a motive hasn't been explored yet. The guy is making "hard decisions", but hasn't been shown to get corrupted yet. This definitely isn't Yes Minister, let alone In The Loop.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.@Falrinn In a case like the one shown in the series, the president derives his authority not from the Constitution but from the Presidential Succession Act 1947. If Congress wants him gone, they don't need to bother with an impeachment at all, all they have to do is amend the act to put someone else in his place.
"Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man; and his number is 0x29a."OMG, the last episode.
I'll bomb the Capitol if they cancel this show!
"Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man; and his number is 0x29a."After the last episode, I'm really starting to think that not only is congressman Mac Leish being strongarmed into being part of the conspiracy, but he's running his own counter-conspiracy with his wife (who was the mystery caller who tipped off Agent Wellls).
In fact since Catalan is described as a mercenary, I could see the woman we met at the end of the most recent episode as being the only true believer in the conspiracy that has been introduced.
Her and whoever she works with, because she can't be working alone.
"When you keep serving lollipops, you get licked." - Chris MarloweShe says as much. I was referring specifically to characters that have appeared onscreen.
Though depending on how complicated the conspiracy gets, it's possible even she is just another mercenary. We could end up going through 3 or 4 layers of mercenaries and blackmailed or threatened individuals before we get to the first person who had any hand in initiating the plot to blow up the US government.
I just started to watch it...I know, I shouldn't say it, but I imagined that first episode was set next year and found it kind of cathartic as a result....
So how about that winter finale? They packed a lot into there, and that ending had me biting my nails literally, but we have to wait until MARCH for new episodes?
Wait what?
The airing is a little bit behind over here on Netflix, but I did assume that the first season would get a proper conclusion...now I wonder if I should keep watching. I would hate to get suckered into another never-ending drama....
So what do you think of the President lying through his teeth to the entire nation?
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. That happens all the time, and if I was a betting man, I'd say it started with GW.
OUTGUNNED! OUTMANNED! OUTNUMBERED, OUTPLANNED!
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.I...don't know what that means.
He was in a bit of a pickle fighting the UK.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Oh, Hamilton.
I have less than zero interest in that.
Still bummed Designated Survivor killed off Mrs. Mac Leish, though. I've been a fan of LJC since Hannibal.
"I have less than zero interest in that."
Sorry to hear that. Hype Backlash?
Eh, Lady Mc Leash was a bit player anyway. And the conspiracy of betrayed soldiers is hilarious. What do they call themselves, "The Patriots"? Should we expect a Metal Gear to show up and lob an improptu nuke at someone?
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. This was a fun new season. It's just such a pleasure to see a President who is the exact reverse opposite of Trump in every possible way. Like, one finds oneself stopping to contemplate, in amazement, how all of this President's behavior is predicated on the idea that the position of POTUS actually means something, and conveys an enormous weight' of responsibility and honor, an unmistakable nobility.
Whereas nowadays a phrase like 'The President is lurking in the woods and our children have gone missing' sounds downright plausible.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.So they killed Mrs. Kirkman off.
Why?
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
The Designated Survivor is the one guy the White House staff leaves behind in a secure location while the State of the Union speech is given. In case everyone dies.
Everyone did.
Drama ensues.
On the latest episode, do you think the President was wrong to make a false promise for the sake of arresting a rebel Governor and a bigot? I'm afraid the move will make him into a martyr.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
