Cassander had clapped politely for the speech. The words seemed right, but the delivery was off. He chalked it up to imperfect public speaking skills. After all, he wasn't exactly well-spoken, either, and it wasn't exactly inspirational last year, either, even if he couldn't remember last year's very well, either.
He made is way down to the center stage, getting in one of the pseudo-lines that had eventually formed out of the chaos. He wasn't quite sure what the paper was, so with his luck it would be important. What his mind was focused truly was two-fold; Anton, and Masumi. Mostly Anton, but he wanted to be able to meet up with her later. After all, a distraction would be nice.

If only. Jack thought, before he straightened up and nodded to both Crash and Lucky "Guess we'll just have to wait and see how the rest of the day goes. Later." He said as he began heading towards the teacher to collect a handout.
As he walked towards the exit, he noticed Rachel nearby looking quite confused and worried. "Hey, you lost?" He called out to her.
"Yeah." He says he looks sad until he brightens up when he sees her Ivy Williams, she was never a fan of him or of anyone but she had something about that Crash admired he made it his mission to make Ivy Williams smile and not want the hurt him tough mission but Crash tought he can do it. He grabbed the Paper waves goodbye to Jack and Lucky, and sprinted over to Ivy "Heya Ivy what's up?"
What is a man? A miserable pile of secrets, but enough talk have at you!"Did... Did Crash just..." Why is he talking to Ivy? She's the most stuck-up person in the entire school and Crash is talking to her. Lucky sees himself as a friendly person, but even this is overboard for him. "Crash! Crash! What are you doing?!" Lucky ran over to him and whispered, "You know who that is, don't you?! She hates pretty much anyone who isn't her!"
Long live the New Bev.Auditorium
Ivy could've sworn she heard her name called out, though not from anyone she recognized. She turned from side to side, grimacing, until she saw some younger boy trying to get her attention.
Definitely one of those Freshmen.
Not anyone worth her time anyhow. She simply proceeded as the line continued at a snail's pace. Just a few minutes longer and things would be business as usual.
He frowns when she ignores him then he turns to Lucky"Yeah I know who she is Ivy Williams and yes I know she hates everyone but it's my mission to make everyone smile and she's included in that, plus you know what they say opposites attract." He says smiling agian back to his old self.
What is a man? A miserable pile of secrets, but enough talk have at you!Ms. Rendan's speech, and the words from her father, were now discreetly recorded on Masumi's camera. She remained in her seat longer than most, overcome with curiosity as she replayed a certain part of the footage over and over. Rendan's daughter, aloof officer of school law, smiling warmly to a member of the crowd. Fascinating. Masumi could just about calculate the angles and direction of view, but she'd need more of a reference...
She hopped out her seat and made her way down to the students. And then past them, past the teacher's table, before stopping at the stage itself. Camera still in hand, she used her other arm to brace herself against the stage's floor and then hoist herself up. From there she made her way over to the microphone stand, blatantly ignoring the confused stares her actions had incited.
At first the teachers seemed unsure as to whether she was allowed up there, which gave her enough time to review her video of Ms. Rendan again and then take a photo from about the same angle as Rendan had flashed her smile. With a cross-reference it'd be easier for her to pin down the target of Rendan's affection, though she had no doubt that finding their identity would still be an arduous process.
It was about then that an adult's hand clamped down on her shoulder, and she was rather forcefully escorted back off the stage. A thirty second lecture and one rushed explanation about 'aspiring photojournalism' later and Masumi was herded back into line amongst the other students, the watchful eye of a teacher now on her back. She couldn't say it was an unfamiliar feeling.
Ah well. She got up on her tiptoes to look past the taller members of the crowd, keeping an eye out for either Cassander or anyone who struck her as particularly non-inert.
they/them || "Forgive me, regent of queer amphibians" - Lt.BGob"Opposites attra- Wait." Oh lord, please no. "Crash, are you... Are you into her?" Lucky hoped to god that he meant something else. "Are you sure you know who that is?" She's not a good person. Thankfully, he's never had to talk to her and she's walking away, so it'll likely stay that way, but Lucky had to help Crash with this one.
Long live the New Bev.Cassander turned, catching sight of Masumi. He stood on his toes slightly to make himself easier to see. He sort of wanted to say something, but in the crowd, he'd have to yell, and that just wasn't his style. Instead he just made his way through the crowd, being careful not to push. Still no Anton.
He pulled up alongside Masumi, already smiling again. "That was certainly something. After that, I'm not sure if the principal's running the school or if his daughter is." The principal's daughter - had she been named? Already his memory had moved pass the event - had seemed the exact opposite of his type, strict and uptight. A high upkeep type of person.
By this point Gabriel was in well into Gracia's personal space, which after much of the lack of relaxation that morning had left Gracia slightly shaking. She stands up ubruptly and starts to gather her things.
"Hey it was nice talking to you about this but I should probably get moving."
Standing up she briefly looks around and, noticing Rachel, relaxes visibly and begins to move over to her.
(Hopefully Gabriel bought that) she thought to herself rubbing her arms nervously before waving to Rachel.
Undeterred, Gabriel walked after Gracia. "Wait! Gracia! I need to ask you something!" He was feeling a bit nervous about this, and wasn't sure if she would respond negatively or positively.
Please allow me to introduce myself, I am a man of wealth and taste. Nice to meet you, hope you can guess my name.Rachel was contemplating approaching Gracia and the guy-she-recognized-but-couldn't-remember-his-name when someone called out to her. Startled, she jumped, fumbling with her papers. Once everything was patted back together, she looked up. It was...some guy she hadn't seen before—or if she did, she didn't remember him. He looked younger than her? Probably in a lower grade.
She should probably reply. "Um, no." Wait, that wasn't quite right. "Kinda." After a moment, she continued. "I mean, I've b-b-b-b," pause, a frustrated sigh, "been here for four years, so I know where everything is, but like. I'm not sure where I'm supposed to go. As a senior." God, she really hoped he wasn't in her grade. That would be really awkward then, her not recognizing him.
"So, yeah. Um." Should she introduce herself? He didn't seem like he recognized her, but who knew. "The speech, right? I was kind of...asleep, but I could still hear, you know, how it sounded. It was kind of intimidating. Very formal." Very snobby, too, but she wouldn't say that out loud.
She spotted Gracia approaching, an uncomfortable expression on her face and the guy following after her. Okay, so it was pretty clear what was going on. "Hey, Gracia!" she said, a little loudly, waving back. "Me and...him were just...t-t-t-talking about the speech. You should join us." She looked over at Jack. "If you're okay with that, I mean."

Crash looker over to Gracia and Rachel and dashed to them "Hey uh I don't mean to interupt names Crash in case you didn't know, but since you two are girls you would not mine helping me out with some girl promlembs would you?" Crash asked with a bright smile before he waves to Gaberial and Jack.
What is a man? A miserable pile of secrets, but enough talk have at you!"Relax. Ya didn't miss anythin' real important. Just the usual boring start-of-term stuff they spout every year." Jack assured Rachel. "You should be fine if ya know where your classrooms are."
Jack leaned slightly sideways and spotted the approaching senior "Oh, Gracia...you alright there?" He asked, taking note of her expression.
Gabriel was about to speak to Gracia about the possibility of them going on a date together when he saw that she was nervous. Her voice was weak almost. He paused a bit, and decided to try something else. "Are you okay?"
Then Crash showed up. Great.
Please allow me to introduce myself, I am a man of wealth and taste. Nice to meet you, hope you can guess my name."There's no way this is going to work." It was Lucky's turn to grab a sheet. "I hate to be a pessimist, but Crash's chances here are paper-thin." He said as he grabbed a paper from the pile. "Speaking of which..." Looking over, he saw Crash asking others about girl problems. "Crash, please! Look somewhere else!"
Long live the New Bev.Catching sight of her new contact (or perhaps 'acquaintance' was better suited) Masumi gave him a short wave and waited for him to approach. The student body around her was buzzing; most of her attention was on Cassander, but she kept an ear out for any keywords that might grab her interest. "That's a student council member for you. I can't say it's out-of-character for her to make a speech like that, but she's never given us one in the past-"
Suddenly, for just a moment, she felt a chill run down her spine. Not one caused by vigilant eyes on her back, but scornful ones instead. Glancing around quickly and finding nothing, she deigned to shrug it off and ignore the brief consternation it had caused.
Still, she found herself rubbing the back of her neck as she searched around Cassander. "No luck with your friend?"
they/them || "Forgive me, regent of queer amphibians" - Lt.BGobCassander shook his head, the corner of his mouth twitching for a second. "Nah. He's busy, I guess. Got to be important, type of thing." He paused for a second, then smiled again. "Anyway, uh, you got your phone on you? Trade numbers?"
He knew he shouldn't be focused on Anton so much. After all, missing him once wasn't that big, he was probably busy, and Cass was trying to talk to someone else. He needed to focus.
"So," he continued, "if there was anyone else I would think was immune to the thingy you mentioned earlier, it would be Miss Student Council. Whatever her name was. I mean, maybe." All theory, all guessing. In any case, he wasn't entirely certain there was anything wrong around; sure, it was different, but it could just be a strange time. Anything was possible.

Gabriel nodded. "Maybe....you knows? It's rather unnerving." He shrugged, and tried to lean in as close as possible to Gracia without freaking her out.
