((shoot, I should've gotten here a bit earlier for this!))
In the midst of all this connecting, reuniting, and conversing, the bells suddenly rang, a voice calling out on the intercom. From afar, the doors to the auditorium opened up, and the rest of the students flooded into the halls, still lagging behind- it almost seemed like the general lack of enthusiasm set those special few apart from everyone else.
A voice came out from over the intercom, almost drone-like amidst the muffled machine. "All students report to the auditorium for orientation. All students, report to the auditorium for orientation." Repeating it once more, the intercom cut off once more, as the tidal wave of students slowly shifted towards the aforementioned auditorium.
((I'll be making a larger post in a second, but, if anything, thanks for the activity!))
"Well, that's us. Hey, maybe I'll see you guys later! Ciao for now!" With that, Lucky joined the strangely emotional horde into the auditorium. Eventually, after a long time of searching, he finally found a seat. Good first impression time! He took the seat, turned to a freshman next to him, and introduced himself. "Hi, my name's Luke! How are you today?" The freshman stared at him a bit before blurting out. "Shut it!" ... Well, Lucky certainly didn't expect that. "Alright." Lucky turned back and faced the stage. This batch of freshman sure are dickish. Was he really this bad last year? Whatever, the past's in the past.

Long live the New Bev.Lola rushed over to the auditorium. Hopefully, she'll be able to get her new club up and running soon this year! She hurriedly took a seat as close to the front as possible- which was in fifth row. Why did the school have so many students? Oh well, more for the club!

Oh look, a ghost!Cassander smiled. "I feel all special and tingly inside," he said sarcastically. As a joke, of course; harmless sarcasm.
"As for the rumor dude, I sorta know of him. Not personally. Friends who mentioned a friend who mentioned a friend who learned something from the guy a while back, type of thing." He found the idea of an information broker interesting, especially regarding people. He loved knowing about people, even if he never talked to them.
"I can help, if you want," Cass says, trying to seem casual. He was always working on making new friends. "I mean, I can-" and then he flinched as the announcements came on. He hated surprise loud noises.
"Uh, look," he said to Masumi, maintaining eye contact but turning to the auditorium, "meet up afterward maybe, trade numbers? I mean, if you want me to help." He gave one last glance towards the entrance, looking for Anton. Nothing.
"Nice meetin' ya, Gracie." Jack raised a hand to bid the older student farewell. He tried to pay attention and contribute to the conversation between the rest of the group, but ended up just listening and drifting in and out of his thoughts until the bell rang. Without a word, Jack sighed and began walking to the auditorium.
"See ya guys later." Crash before getting in the auditorium finding a seat in the 7th row where Crash leans back before he gets stuck between two unhappy people. "What's up names Crash." He says to the two juniors one said nothing while the other snarled at him. Crash let a sigh "Man talk about unhappy." He muttered.
What is a man? A miserable pile of secrets, but enough talk have at you!Masumi rubbed her ears after the startling announcement, at the same time moving out the way of a new influx of bodies. She waited until she wasn't at risk of being jostled before replying to Cassander, nodding at his offer of a meet-up and number trade. It was a surprise, though not unpleasant, that he was willing to even talk further, let alone offer his assistance.
"Sure thing. I'll see if I can meet you back here. If not after the orientation, then at next break." She made to move towards the auditorium, but paused for a moment longer.
"And, likewise... If you haven't found your friend by then, I could help you look for them." Masumi would be lying if she said she made the offer out of pure selflessness. After seeing Cassander so fidgety about it, she felt like she'd be missing out if she didn't get to meet the mysterious person for herself.
With that done she followed the flow of the crowd into the gymnasium, netting herself a seat at the back with a decent vantage of the whole place. She'd already slipped her camera from her pocket to her hand, prepared for even the slightest oddity that might pop up.
they/them || "Forgive me, regent of queer amphibians" - Lt.BGobThe auditorium was filled with the sound of talking bounced off the walls, as the bleachers along the side were occupied by its students- separated into individual grades, the student body congregated, watching the front for the current speaker. Amidst all the noise, the sound of an individual tapping the microphone caught everyone's attention, clearing their throat.
A man with a tired expression stood before the mic, clearing his throat away from it- the dwindling strands of blond hair represented his age, his face a permanent frown marked with years' worth of wrinkles. Of course, not too many people could see him from afar. Regardless, he adjusted his formal suit, and spoke into the mic, his gruff voice booming. Principal Rendan, even still had so many layers too him, despite his imposing appearance.
"Welcome, students, to another year at Callow's Park High. First off, I'd like to mention how glad I am to see your.. shining faces once again." He chuckled quietly, albeit with a twinge of nervous behavior.
"It's always a pleasure to see you all ready to enter a new school year with hopes high. Yet, I should really be passing off the microphone to my daughter, who's taken such lengths to create a.. opening speech for you all.. to invite you to the new year." Stepping off to the side, a new figure comes in from the side of the stage, poised and proper in their walk. They keep their eyes on the microphone, refusing to glance at the crowd before them. Bright blonde hair tied up into a single pony tail, their thin face was curled into a scowl, almost. Stepping before the lectern, she'd clear her throat just the same, and spoke
"Greetings and salutations, fellow students. Autumn is a season of beginnings and ends. We start anew, and leave behind the previous past of the year. With such pasts come achievements and accomplishments that inspire us to work harder, and mistakes that humble us. It serves as a fresh slate for us to work towards something greater. Those who wish to achieve something great can not merely hope for that greatness to come to them. They must endeavor and strive towards this goal towards any means possible." They paused, and glanced towards someone off to someone among the bleachers with a smile- something rare, it seemed.
"There is no gain, without pain to go with it. I sincerely hope that, within this year, you will heed my words, and surpass the boundaries you've set for yourself- don't be afraid to be more than what you can be." As the audience promptly claps, his daughter walks off the stage once more, exchanging a smile with his daughter once more. Quite the qualified person, she was.
The meeting soon ended, with greetings and farewells passed off by the principal. Directing them to the center of the auditorium, a table sat in the middle, a teacher cheerfully passing out papers to all those who were directed down too her.. it was only a matter of time before the bleachers were partially empty, only a few stragglers remaining as they traveled towards the center.
"Man, here we go! Excitement!" Lucky said, finally reaching the front of the line. "Gonna grab that paper a-" Lucky around. To his surprise, he saw Crash was unlucky enough to be left behind as well. "Crash, my friendo! Are you as excited as I am?" He said, apparently completely blind to Crash's bad mood.

Long live the New Bev.Rachel combed through her hair with her fingers as she approached the center stage. The morning daze was finally fading away, so she could afford to make herself a little less scruffy. The first day of school was always the hardest—first she fell asleep on the lawn outside, then she'd practically slept through the assembly, too. She'd probably missed all kinds of important information, and she hadn't sat next to any acquaintances that could fill her in. Please tell me they wrote this stuff down somewhere...
There were a few people she recognized around her, but she didn't really know them, and she couldn't remember their names. They'd probably be offended if they knew hers and not vice versa, so she just kept her mouth shut, accepted some papers from the teacher, and looked around helplessly. Were they going straight to classes, were there any other special events, did seniors do anything in particular? With a frustrated sigh, she returned her attention to the papers, flipping through them to hopefully find some answers.

Auditorium
Ivy Williams watched the principal's daughter speak with casual disinterest, occasionally glancing to the side to look upon the droves of mindless peasants seated around her. She had arrived early to the orientation, ensuring she could acquire the best seat for herself. It was unfortunate that her associates lacked the intelligence to do the same, but like virtually all human beings, they were disposable.
Not that she'd ever say anything like that out loud.
She was fortunate that she did not have to walk through the halls before the underclassmen contaminated them with their filth, but such was only a temporary luxury.
She didn't pay much mind to the mindless dregs as they had cluttered outside the school grounds, as many of them did not seem worth her time. Some of them, upperclassmen and lowerclassmen were even co-mingling and being friendly with each other. Ugh. The thought filled her with disgust.
It was true that people within the theater department did co-mingle together, but they were the cream of the crop. For all others, boundaries were meant to be enforced.
Then again, some of them were the "special" kids. Let them rot in their own stupidity.
She didn't need their stupid rubbing off on her anyhow.
When the speech was done, Ivy stood up from her seat and began proceeding toward the main table, fanning himself from all the sweat-built heat in the room. It's not like she didn't know what her classes were already, judging by how things worked out in the past. Aside from the sweat and the droves upon droves of stupid Freshmen and middle-schoolers, it was a shame that someone like her of all people would go up to do the orientation speech instead of someone as magnificent as Ivy. If only that girl wasn't the principal's daughter, Ivy could show her who really ruled around these parts.
Gabriel couldn't help but notice how odd the staff was behaving. Intrigued, he filed that away for future reference, and headed to the centre stage to get the paperwork. As he did so, he saw Gracia, and hurriedly walked over to her. "Hey, Gracia!" He said as he approached her, "could we talk for a second?" As moved closer, he caught sight of Ivy Williams. He scowled in her general direction. Of course she would be here....
Please allow me to introduce myself, I am a man of wealth and taste. Nice to meet you, hope you can guess my name."Oh! Uh....just wanted to talk to you, is all," Gabriel said nervously. "So....that was a rather....unusual assembly." He sat down next to Gracia. "Did anything seem a bit off to you about it?"
Please allow me to introduce myself, I am a man of wealth and taste. Nice to meet you, hope you can guess my name.(Huh, he noticed it too? At least it isn't just me.)
"Honestly I'm not sure what's really going on but things feel more off compared to normal. I mean apart from you and a few others anyways." Gracia begins to muse to herself. "Actually come to think of it I think I overheard two other students talking about the same thing..."
"Really?" Gabriel asked, scooting slightly closer to Gracia. "Like what?" He wasn't sure if he should reach out and try to hold her hand. He wanted to, but also was scared he would scare her off.
Please allow me to introduce myself, I am a man of wealth and taste. Nice to meet you, hope you can guess my name.

Masumi looked at Cassander a bit longer, but decided not to push the subject. It was his choice if he wanted to risk tardiness, after all. "I suppose you're right." She made herself comfortable against the entrance's wall before delving into her spiel.
"And yes, I don't think I'm affected by whatever this is. I have a good feeling that you aren't either, since you haven't attempted to brush me off. Even when I gave you an opportunity to." There might have been a bit of gratitude in that last part, but she was quick to move on. "As for the other students, I can only be certain in the ones that are consistent outliers. Kids who are always upbeat, enthusiastic, interested and engaged in their surroundings. There's a few in the grades above and below me, but I'd have to investigate further."
"There's also a... certain student. He's known as a new-age information broker, at least on the rumour mill." Masumi had never met the guy personally- if there was info she needed then she preferred to get it herself. "If there's anyone else who'd know about this, or knew someone who'd know about this, it'd be him."
