So, apparently the air quality in Chicago is currently the worst in the world... and I live about an hour from Chicago. Went outside earlier, and it is indeed very smoky/hazy outside.
And if that wasn't bad enough, there's a chance of severe thunderstorms around my area on Thursday... fuck.
Cold turkey's getting stale. Tonight I'm eating crow.I’m also seeing the haze.
Chicago’s air quality is the worst in the world?
Sheesh, Illinois sure likes to keep giving me reasons to not like it, does it? x_x

Come on! Let's bless them all until we get fershnickered! It was hazy for me as well. I'm not sure if it's coming from the fires from Canada or the ones that apparently are going on down in Southern Illinois.
Get taxed. Idiot.Apparently the bad air quality and haze is mostly coming from the wildfires in Canada, yes.
I actually started having some trouble breathing outside earlier. Made me a bit nervous, needless to say.
Cold turkey's getting stale. Tonight I'm eating crow.The constant changes in the weather forecast for Spring Green, Wisconsin that’s going to happen this Saturday are driving me crazy. XD ^_^;;
Come on! Let's bless them all until we get fershnickered! It's thunder and lightning here. I normally wouldn't mind, if I wasn't waiting for a chance to wheel down the recyclable bin :/
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallWell, apparently the haze is coming back.
There was a tornado watch for my area on Wednesday. Nothing happened for me, but there were tornadoes about 1-2 hours from where I live.
Cold turkey's getting stale. Tonight I'm eating crow.Last night I had a storm that was so strong, it broke off a large tree branch and threw it onto my front porch.
We had a literal five minute rain about an hour and a half ago. Almost could set a watch to it that’s how close to five minutes it was. Barrly enough rain to make the street wet and the air muggy.
Yeah, it’s good.
I’m just surprised nobody came by to clean it up. A couple of the firefighters who were shopping today said they were up all night cleaning up fallen tree branches and power lines.
I’m hoping the great dinner they were buying the ingredients for helps to revive their spirits.

Come on! Let's bless them all until we get fershnickered! So, I guess it's probably not gonna rain for a little while. Given that we've gotten quite a lot of rain lately (to the point where the main entrance to my dad's apartment complex flooded and has been temporarily closed), though...
Cold turkey's getting stale. Tonight I'm eating crow.I’m also not going to have rain for a while.
Come on! Let's bless them all until we get fershnickered! The weather was really nice today - a good thing, too, because I saw some outdoor live music earlier tonight.
Cold turkey's getting stale. Tonight I'm eating crow.![]()
You can have ours (Britain) if you like... it's been on and off raining most of the past week, pretty much all of the past 2 days.note
I was going to say send it to Southern Europe where 40 degree Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) heatwaves and wildfires are a thing, but don't ask me do do swaps. My preferred weather is pleasantly warm and vaguely sunny intervals; we had a short lived version of one of those heatwaves last year and it was unbearable for us Brits generally.
EDIT: got rid of the "don't ask me what it is in Fahrenheit" notes that were here, they just look silly.

The weather is supposed to get absolutely nuts this week...
35ºC (95ºF) at its peak, with even the nights not going below 24ºC (75ºF). It's also supposed to get rather disgustingly humid, meaning it will feel like 39ºC (102ºF).
The only rain we're set to get is today, which is a moot point when today is already the coolest day in the forseeable future...
He/they | Mostly here on my free daysMonsoon weather is predicted this week. I see it on radar already in Arizona. So in a day or two at most.
It’s late this year. And weak as a result because May and June were unusually cold compared to what they should’ve been. We should’ve had the 100+ degree days (38C+) established at least 30 days ago, not just starting up in the last two weeks.
Coincidentally with predictions of El Niño, I’m expecting winter to come early and wet. It never comes up short in southern Colorado. Always at or above normal.
And a lot of me doesn’t want early winter, I don’t like cold.

The weather for my area got switched. The app on my phone said it was going to be sunny today and rain tomorrow. Now the opposite is happening.
If there really are fast wind gusts going on, I’m not really feeling them. :S
Come on! Let's bless them all until we get fershnickered!

Increased humidity reduces the efficacy and efficiency of evaporative cooling. Sweat and swamp coolers (a basic form of air conditioning) both work on this. Once the air has reached its saturation point relative to the type used, evaporative cooling ceases working at all.
And because water can hold more heat than air, high humidity literally has more heat energy to transfer around. (This is why while desert climates have the hottest temps on Earth, humid climates are considered less comfortable despite never reaching those temperatures.)
Like today is supposed to be pretty much 100 degrees in an hour or two. But because I’m in a dry climate it’ll be much more tolerable than if I were in humid weather and 10-15 degrees less.
