Halkrath, Bridge

Making his way to the turbolift en route to the armory alongside Adviser Genji, Halkrath had the vague notion he should probably say something, but he could think of very little to say to add to what was going on. The bizarre situation they were all in had left him feeling totally out of his depth

However, hearing the science officer's message mentioning an "unexpected infestation" and "possible violent confrontation" his mood improved considerably. This was a problem he understood how to solve. He spoke to Genji as he considered their options.

"If these creatures have attacked the engine rooms, using heavy weapons and explosives against them may prove unwise."

He drew his combistick in one hand and extended the wrist-blades of the other.

"Here's the plan: I go down there directly and kill them all myself, without damaging the engines. Simple, efficient, satisfying."

Genji Shimada - En Route to the Armory

Not too long after Genji gave his commands, they were warned about a parasite infestation happening in the engine room. Trouble was just coming at them from all places today and the expedition had barely started. Well, if nothing else that meant the adventure would be quite a bit more interesting than Genji had expecting it to be.

The Chief of Security who was accompanying Genji to the armory spoke up about his thoughts about how to deal with the parasites which basically boiled down to going down there and killing every single one of them. Well, that was one way to do it, but all things considered it might not be the best way to approach the situation. The ninja briefly thought of asking him if he was sure he could handle the situation, but considering he already had his weapons ready to go, it would probably be wise not to hurt his pride.

"We have no idea how many of those things are there and we also have no idea what kind of parasite they are. If they just rushed at you all at once and started parasiting you, even a powerful warrior such as yourself could get overwhelmed depending on their numbers. I wouldn't recommend trying to fight them off, at least not by yourself or until we have a good estimative on their numbers."

Genji once again folded his arms and looked slightly downwards as he began to think while he head to the turbolift. He wanted to be able to assist with the parasites but at the same time he had to organize his personnel at the armory. He doubted he would be able to convince Halkrath from stepping down and letting him take care of the parasites so the best option would be to split up.

"With that said, they could use your help down there. I can handle organizing our crew at the armory while you go there, unless you have any objections," he added, unfolding his arms and looking up at the alien that towered over him.

Peridot, Bridge

The gem's indignant and, let's be honest, righteous fury at the two pilots was dulled somewhat by the sight of the remains of Dehli Station. All she could do for now, she knew, was start winding the engines down from full emergency power to something more sustainable, although she kept the output above standard levels and started re-routing the extra towards weapons and shields. Then, Lingshen came over the bridge communicator.

"Wait, what!?" She squeaked, tapping her own communicator band. "Lingshen - there's what in my engine room?!" She looked up in time to see Seath slithering his way out the door, talking about sending his golems into her engine room. The gem let out an angry squeak and jumped out of her seat as the security chief looked to be following him.

"H-hey! Don't you send those clomping clods into my department! Hey!" Growling once it was clear the other officers was already gone, she tapped her com band again. ''Peridot to Von Zinzer! There's a situation in engineering, and Seath and Security are already all over it - get in there and make sure nobody breaks anything! I'll be there soon!"

Before she could take her leave of the bridge, Tatsumaki addressed her, forcing the engineer to come to attention. "I-it's completely unprecedented!" She replied, frowning as she wracked her memory and tried to put the mental images of security officer spraying the engine core with gunfire out of her mind. "You'd have to open the second wormhole the instant the first was initiated, with a perfectly parallel course. E-even a minute deviation would resonate and collapse both passages, and what with inconsistent dark matter densities, gravitational shifts, quantum filaments... it's not possible over any meaningful distance!"

"There may be examinations of the phenomenon in the theoretical astrophysics journals, but I'm not up to date with that field." She said, shooting a glare towards the door where the others had just left. "Captain, requesting permission to report to engineering as well!"

It's probably actually better if Peridot stays on the bridge to monitor things, but she's not about to admit it :P

BRIDGE

The sensors immediately lit up the viewscreen, finding several bodies floating in a cluster amongst the distance (a rather low number considering how much of the station had disappeared) and at least a hundred life signs (several kinds, which meant several species) coming from the remaining residential section, all of them spread around the area and lazily floating around (made sense, the artificial gravity engines were held at the engineering section, which was nowhere to be seen). The residential section itself had shut off its airlocks, which were designed to separate sections, not separate the people from the coldness of outer space. The shuttle itself only had one life sign, clearly belonging to a human.

DECK T

"I'm not sure— j-just pull me up!" Ensign Nadir shrieked, using Sarah as a way out of that awful situation. "They look like..." He leaned over the railings (not so much leaned as tried to look down without actually touching the railings, clearly afraid he was somehow going to fall over once more), wincing when he noticed just how many they are. "They don't look that dangerous. And I think... are they... are they humping the engines?"

He finally leaned over the engines to take a good look. "Okay. Thank the Maker, they're not humping the engines." Ensign Nadir let out a sigh of relief. "They're just rubbing themselves up against it... the engine produces a lot of heat, maybe that's what brought them here?" At Tails' suggestion, Ensign Nadir scoffed. "Who the heck would have brought an unreported, never before seen alien species into the ship?"

"But can we not jump into conclusions by either killing them or dissecting them?!" He pointed at both Avitus and Chao. "We're a discovery ship, and this is an unknown species. Shouldn't we analyze it harmlessly, see if it can communicate with us, and report back to the Earth Alliance? Our first contact with a new species shouldn't be 'oops, I just shot you in the'— OFFICER RICCO WATCH OUT!"

Unbeknownst to the humans, the little creature that Ricco spotted inside the air ducts had sneaked out and poised itself for a jump. Launching itself through the air with surprising speed, it hit the back of Ricco's head full on, hatching onto it before suddenly, terrifyingly... and harmlessly sucking onto it like a baby with a pacifier, all whilst producing a 'choo' noise.

"Oh... ewww..." Ensign Nadir mumbled, taking a step away from Ricco. "I think that thing just imprinted in you."

MOLOCK'S TERMINAL

Ship has arrived to Delhi Station. Science crew already analyzing probe results. Double wormhole data already being processed for later analysis. Would you like a cup of coffee, crewman? The mess hall is still open for breakfast.

SICKBAY

"Aw, jeez, thanks Doc." The broken-arm ensign said, grimacing at his shoulder before ruffling his own hair with his hand. "I thought we were just going to bump around a little, thought it wasn't necessary for me to hold onto something... am I the first broken something in the ship? Do I get a prize or a trophy for being such an awful Security crew member?"

At Ensign Nadir's shouted warning, Sarah whirled around, phaser at the ready. When it was clear that the creature wasn't hurting Ricco, she lowered her phaser and exhaled in annoyance.

"So what are we supposed to do with these things? Leave them here?"

Kolaan furrowed his brow, smirking a little bit at the ensign's good humor. "You are not awful," he assured the ensign. "Rest assured. That said, you should have been more careful. Now... as the Earth expression goes.... take it easy, all right?"

With that, Kolaan went back to attending his duties at the medical terminal.

Moloch rubbed his chin as he thought about the information provided by the computer, by his estimate they should be hours from Delphi still. How did they get there so soon after engaging warp? And a double wormhole... Wasn't that supposed to be impossible? Or at least so improbable that it was practically impossible, as far as he was concerned that was the same thing.

"...Computer, coffee sounds like a great idea right now" he told the screen, even though the mess hall was on another floor entirely it felt more like a decision that way. With his next goal stated Moloch started walking towards the turbo lift in search of the caffeine he suspected he'd need before the day was out.

Mess Hall

After a brief debate with a replicator what exactly he wanted when he said "coffee" a mug materialized in the machine as it was supposed to. Moloch lifted the mug, gave it's contents a discerning sniff, and after considering it took a sip. The recommended replicator coffee blend certainly wasn't his favored Spark Roast blend of Hetrodyne Coffee, but the temperature was just right, and it was far better than anything he got back with the Utraghans, So nothing worth complaining over-

''Peridot to Von Zinzer! There's a situation in engineering, and Seath and Security are already all over it - get in there and make sure nobody breaks anything! I'll be there soon!"

With a sigh Moloch tapped his badge to reply to his superior officer "Von Zinzer to Peridot, I'll be down there in a moment" and with that he turned for the door and beyond that engineering

Ricco (and Baby), Deck T
The feeling of having his long, black head sucked on was a new one to Ricco. Something he didn't take kindly to for a split second, his tail raising its barb to impale the thing before it could do any damage...only to see that it wasn't doing much damage at all. He expected it to spit acid and try to penetrate to his insides, but it was just...suckling, for lack of a better term.

At that moment, Ricco wondered what part of the human anatomy his head couldn't be compared to.

"...I think you're right on the money, Nadir," he meekly said as he reached back and pulled the parasite off, the creature releasing its suction with a wet *plop* sound. Bringing it to his face, he could see its cavernous mouth and its wildly flailing limbs as it futilely tried to reattach itself to his face. "It's a new species, right? What would you even call this kind of thing..."

It had features reminiscent of a few Earth species, a few from other planets that he had seen in his travels, but it still looked the most like his own species. However, that would be nepotism if he just named them "False Xenomorphs". He'd have to come up with his own, more human-centric nomenclature. Humans really like naming things after familiar sights...

"...Leechtick. It's got features of both, doesn't it? Once we got the planet it came from, we can just call it the Planet So-And-So Leechtick. Works for me." With how quickly it had attached itself to his face, practically instantly and silently, he was still a bit wary of doting on it too much. He looked to Avitus, and said, "If any others try to do that to anyone besides me, feel free to shoot them. I don't want to learn it has some kind of enzyme that melts human flesh instantly after the fact."

Joseph - Bridge

He's dazed; reeling, even. The ship's sudden lurching had knocked Joseph out of his chair, though fortunately there was no instrument panel for him to bang his head against. He hears Tatsumaki berating Svensgaard, and he's glad she's willing and able to take that task. He'd do it himself if not for the stars he's currently seeing; metaphorical stars, that is.

The Verne is in one piece, so that's something. Through gritted teeth, Joseph quietly groans his grievances, his language many-faceted and multicolored. That's something his instructors hadn't had to teach him.

And then the reports come in: A distress signal from the wreckage; intruders in the ship; parasites in the engine room. Joseph's hands clutch either side of his throbbing head.

"OH! MY! GOD!!!" he shouts, equal parts frustration and lamentation. This mission has already become a comedy of errors. Everything is terrible.

And then, in a flash, Captain Joestar is fine again. It's out of his system now. His eyes harden as he takes command.

"Dross, Leo, verify the source of that distress signal! I don't want anyone else boarding until we get a clear visual contact, but if there are people trapped out there, we need to get them on board."

He switches the ship-wide communications on once again.

"Security, update us on anything important you find. If we've got an intruder, aside from whatever's in the engine room, I want to know about it. The last thing we need right now is someone getting caught by surprise."

And off again. Joseph turns to Peridot. She's frantic and clearly quite peeved. He doesn't know her or the culture she comes from very well, but he can tell she's passionate about her work. Whatever's mucking things up in the engine room may as well be kicking over her sandcastle. He's not going to deny her a chance to get even.

"Granted, and I'm going with you." Joseph declares, sounding calmer than he feels. That little maneuver from Svensgaard still has him heated. "Those bugs need to be squashed, and I'm just the guy to do it. It'll give me a chance to let off some steam. Tatsumaki, make sure nobody dies while I'm gone."

He shoots an encouraging wink at his second-in-command, then strolls towards the door, waiting for Peridot to follow before he actually leaves.

Croaker - Deck G - Sickbay

After enduring the lift ride down, I moved along the corridor to Sickbay at the best steady pace my ancient frame could handle. I wasn't going to throw out a hip or my back trying to sprint there like a marathon runner. The people there would just have to make do without me. It's good for their training. Still, I did get there eventually and strode in, taking in the scene as quick as I could. Just as I thought, it was minor stuff for the most part, broken bones were the worst of it. But we'd be getting worse soon, I'm sure. One of the senior specialists comes running up with a datapad, babbling away about the situation. I nod at him and skim over the datapad before tossing it back. My eyes might not be as good as they used to be, but I've seen this sort of thing a thousand times before. I'm here for something else.

I tell them to get the medical cleanroom ready. It's designed to deal with unknown organisms, diseases, and what-have-you without risking the whole crew by dealing with new and deadly lifeforms in the middle of Sickbay. I also tap my combadge again.

"Croaker to Bridge. If there's any survivors on that shuttle, put them in the cleanroom. And if there's any survivors on the station that aren't going to last, seal off a cargo bay or something. No telling if whoever took out Delhi didn't give themselves an edge with a virus bomb or some other kind of biological weaponry shit."

Kolann is there, doing his healing hands routine. Not a bad kid - I call them all kid - and it looks like he's handling things all right. I stump over to him.

"Don't be blowing all your holiness at once," I said to him. "No telling how much of it we'll need."

Ulrik was not exactly surprised when Tatsumaki decided to retaliate against him physically, with a showoff of her powers to boot. Here we go, he thought.

He was ready to face the full brunt of his superior's wrath, but noticed that the rest of the Delhi was in a sad state. He suddenly didn't feel like offering any retaliation verbally, but instead got up, brushed himself off as if he had been covered in strands of hair, and left for his quarters.

Their captain's sudden scream caused Leo to flinch, and for a moment he lost track of what tasks he needed to do in what order. The hand covering his wound moved up to rake through his hair, making it slightly more messy than it already was. He wouldn't have even thought of doubting the survivors before letting them come aboard. Maybe that made him naive... then again, deceit wasn't as much of a problem when you had the power to see through it half of the time. If possible he'd like to discern the potential newcomers with his own eyes, just in case.

But now wasn't the time for those thoughts; he'd need to make sure that the Verne would even accept them first. Wiping the sweat and blood off on his (fortunately dark) trousers, Leo let out a deep breath and then summarily explained what was on the screen in front of them.

"Okay, there's about a hundred bodies registering in, uh, in what's left of Delhi Station. Another half dozen out in space, and then one more that's sending the distress signal from the shuttle." He paused for a minute as he adjusted the probe's route, activating its thrusters as Tatsumaki had requested and putting it on the quickest course he could manage towards the shuttle and station. "Until the probe swings around I won't know for sure how many of them are alive, but the sensors are picking up oxygen and nitrogen in the station. It's not disappearing- I mean, not disappearing any faster than you'd expect, so we can assume there isn't a leak. That might give us enough time to scan them before they need to get out of there."

For a second time he lapsed into silence as he inputted a different set of commands into his console. Intent on getting it done quickly, he tuned out the chaos around him and thus missed Joseph's declaration that he was heading off the bridge. "I've sent the coordinates of the shuttle person to the transporter room. Once the probe scans them they should be ready to beam up into the cleanroom on your signal, si-" he swung around to face Joseph, only then realised that he was leaving, and awkwardly turned to Tatsumaki instead. "Er, ma'am."

He was about to respond to him when he was startled by the creature jumping on Ricco. He calmed down when he saw that it didn't seem to want to feed on him. It took him a few seconds before he could find bak his words.

"Well, if anyone brought this creature here, it would likely be for sabotage. If I recall correctly, not all extraterrestrial government are in good relation with Earth Alliance, correct ? It's not impossible that a one of them sent someone to compromise one of it's most important projects by sneaking creatures from a planet belonging to them. Just because the alliance doesn't know what they are doesn't mean other races haven't yet discovered them. Trust me, I know how that feel. "Ah, thank you Chachamaru. Such a nice dear for helping dear old mum out with her chores, ne." Her eyes lighting up on seeing her robot maid appear a minute after she sent out her report, the scientist got a bit of her perkiness back as she let the servant attach the palm-sized disc that was brought down into the room onto the spot in between her shoulder-blades, feeling a familiar weight settle in place and a thrum echoed out, outlining her frame in a brief red outline before the shielding went invisible once more. "Now then, daughter dearest. Here's what I'd like you to do.~" Rapidly typing in commands onto her tool, Chao then waved off her invention with a few cheerful waves as the green-haired gynoid went back up the lifts towards her destination.

With that task done, the scientist turned her attentions back towards the xeno-parasites with a slight smile on her face, one that held the barest hint of an edge. "Alright, it is time to conduct some field tests." With the Crystalians and the security people already down there along with her portable shield generator, Chao felt a lot less antsy and now delved into a more... eccentric mindset. "Everyone please do not worry, I have shielding equipped that lets one survive a hit and run from a truck."

With that said, the girl began to climb down into the pit infested with the things. "Live-feed will be forwarded to bridge crew in real time, please wait to receive footage of xenos." With another few clicks of the button, a file would be sent towards one of the bridge operators that could be opened up to see just how serious the situation in the engines were like.Something to help Peridot down by letting her see exactly what was happening to her beloved engines... though it could also backfire and simply make the gem even more wound-up the Chinese woman supposed. Ah well.

"Testing the hypothesis that the parasites are capable of attacking non-xenomorph life-forms." Walking towards a couple of outliers from the main group, the girl stood stock still in close proximity after descending while her tool was measuring everything and barrier was on. "Officer Lingshen here, performing a close inspection of Leechtick specimen. Will provide data on characteristics of behavioral patterns after a few rounds of tests are performed. First task, measuring aggressiveness levels of test subjects as well as methods of self-defense slash predation. Come get some delicious Chao Lingshen, ne?~" Waving her arms up and down while stamping her foot a few times, the girl got ready to inspect what would happen after the aliens smashed into her military level shielding.

The green-haired servitor soon made herself known on the bridge deck with a bow and clear arrival stated, acting like the caretaker of a mansion rather than a helper drone employed by most people. If it wasn't for the fact that her ears were replaced by antennae fin and her voice a bit stiffly robotic, her features would have not been confused with an ordinary human. "Unit Chachamaru Karakuri is sent by Science Officer Chao Lingshen to volunteer for station-side exploration operation, logic dictating sturdy mechanical frame and installed applications could prove rather useful to the mission. Various weapons attachment are equipped as well as hacking tools and propulsion boosters that are greatly compatible with helping achieve current mission objectives."

Seath The Exasperated, Deck T

"Don't be naive, boy." Seath sneered at Ensign Nadir as he watched - so to say - the freshly-christened Leechtick attempt a go at Officer Horner and failing due to being unprepared for his head. It apparently tried to latch, but a xenomorph's unique shape of head and its rubbery feeling, so to say, left it unable to do so. "Mr. Prower figured thisss out already and he isss what, eight yearsss old?" The dragon tapped his temple lightly as the color-blind vision came to him for a moment. Good enough to study the unknown species. "That sssaid, I would not be sssurprisssed if it wasss EA's doing."

He grabbed the critter from Ricco's grasp, careful to not injure it. "A piece of Delhi Ssstation. It appearsss a third party completely dessstroyed it, save for a few bitsss here and there and a ssspace shuttle." He explained to the xenomorph matter-of-factly, as if the topic was weather and not a large-scale catastrophe. "...hm. The ssspacing between the clawsss is jussst about big enough to encompasss an average human cranium." Seath muttered as he gave the critter a gentle squeeze. "Alssso, both of our main pilotsss are hollow moronsss." He slithered over to where Avitus was just moving down.

His Crystalians were also there, methodically picking up a number of Leechticks each, carrying over the fresh smell of mountain streams. With no fleshy bits to latch into and a fairly human shape they were perfect for field-testing. "Hmmm... I wonder if they would interract with the deceased asss well." He pondered aloud before focusing on the depths below. "I hope your trigger finger ssstays put, Avitusss. If Lingshen sssaysss she can handle it, there isss little reassson to not believe her."

He needed a couple of those critters, since it was difficult to tell which one was which gender at a first glance. Thus, he needed to grab a few for a margin of error.

Sarah's eyes widened as she looked over the fox boy. "You're eight? What the hell are you doing here?"

Harley had left, and Sarah felt oddly nervous. When the counselor had been around, Sarah had felt confident that no one would catch on- she was easy to overlook compared to the psycho psychiatrist.

Then again, it wasn't like she stood out next to the underage flying fox, the Xenomorph, and the dragon.

"So does anyone have any idea what we're supposed to do with these things? Other than let them run around and try to breed with the warp core?"

"Cull their numbersss, but not too much." Seath replied, continuing to poke the Leechtick now and then, attention divided between examining the alien species and monitoring the situation downstairs. "Ensssign Nadir isss right that thisss isss primarily an expedition meant for exploring the unknown."

"The othersss, we shall invessstigate once the sssituation with what's left of Delhi isss resssolved."

Tails was relieved that another person was more open to his opinion . He turned to Sarah when she expressed surprise at his age. He then remembered this particualr cultural difference between Earth and Mobius.

"Well, my species's age of majority is ten, so I'm legally a teenager. And I think we should follow what Mr. Seath says. He IS the chief scientist of the ship, after all. Especially if these things can gobble up a person's head."

Tatsumaki—U.S.S. Verne—Bridge

Tatsumaki suppressed a flurry of invective unsuitable for addressing a superior officer. There’s 20% of a space station floating outside our window, and you’re worried about a handful of nonsapient ticks? The hits just kept on coming as one of the Science Officers— Oh yes, the one who bought her way up the chain of command, how charming —began broadcasting a live feed onto the bridge. “Ugly little things, aren’t they.” Tatsumaki mused, returning to her seat once more, before nodding to Leo. “Very well, you have permission to beam to the clean room once the results come in. Virus and radiation readings are imperative, but let’s not dawdle on the off chance he’s bleeding to death.” As if on cue, the notorious rag on Leo’s workstation, strewn about by the swerve, lit up with green once again as it moved to absent-mindedly dab at Leo’s cut.

Tatsumaki’s fist met her cheek once again, skin prickling as the possibility of ambush loomed ever near, even as she filtered out the most egregious signs of panic to process the information before her. Her eyes narrowed as the feed picked up the mutterings of those lingering on the walkway above—particularly, the hissing speculation about sabotage. I really, really hate agreeing with the lizard. Tapping the combadge on her shirt, she netted her fingers together in front of her and began speaking softly. “Secure line 718.” She said, restricting the communique to those in Security. “Open call to security personnel, begin scanning the cargo bay. Compare manifests to actual cargo, and note the discrepancies. Those parasites didn’t get onboard without help.” She then tapped it again, putting her through on a special line to Dr. Croaker. “Medical Chief Croaker, I’m sure you’ll agree this ship has had one coincidence too many. Have your counselor go over the personnel files once more, with special focus on those with zoological experience or terroristic ties. Whoever did this also had to have known when the ship was about to leave drydock, possibly down to the second. Please keep this information to yourself, or those you trust implicitly.” There. Now, all she had to do was wait: either they would find something, or their saboteur was somewhere within the ranks of Security, in which case they would attempt to flee. One way or another, the parasite situation was out of her hands.

Not that there weren’t a hundred other tasks to take care of. Reaching up habitually to take her jacket off, only to realize it wasn’t part of her uniform anymore, Tatsumaki instead opted to clasp her hands behind her back as she floated above the bridge, ramrod straight as her eyes cycled to the station behind her. “Brother Dross, inform the EA of what’s happened here. If this is a terroristic attack or an encroaching empire, it’s possible they may have already gotten an ultimatum.” She rolled the Maximal’s report around in her mouth, reclining on what her instincts were telling her. Was annihilation on the molecular level really the most likely explanation? Or was it indistinguishable from something they’d seen before? “And see what you can do about intrawarp contact, to communicate with any other waylaid pieces of the station that may have been shorn off into wormholes like ours. ‘Matter cannot be created or destroyed’, as they say, and until the attackers prove themselves gods I’m inclined to believe it.”

Tatsumaki then turned to the new arrival, feeling the left side of her face melt slightly with annoyed incredulity. “Yes, well, I’m sure your maid programming will be an invaluable asset.” In truth, she had already been considering an away team, both to figure out exactly what was going on and to satiate her desire to bodily do something about the situation. The maid’s arrival did bump it up in her queue, however, as she tapped her combadge once more. “Chief Engineer Peridot, Chief Medical Officer Croaker, and Chief Science Officer… *sigh* …Seath, I’m forming an away team to check on the status of the residential district. I need a member of each of your departments to report to the beam deck, in full HEV and zero-air equipment. The station has maintained structural integrity, but we can’t be sure for how long. Military Advisor Shimada, meet us there with your men as well.”

Last but not least, one of Ulrik’s seatbelts coiled up to attempt to ensnare Ulrik’s wrist once more. Tatsumaki floated down in front of him, her face an unmoving mixture of irritation and disappointment as she beheld the former First Pilot. “As it stands, you have three choices.” She said, holding up her closed fist to demonstrate. “You can retreat to your quarters until the current situation is resolved, and assuming we all survive, you will be held accountable for your actions by a council of your peers. Maybe they will find your actions acceptable, maybe they will not.” She had a strange lilt to her voice, now that she had had some time to cool down. It had been a fairly impressive feat, after all, but she needed to be sure she could trust him to follow orders—now, more than ever. “Second, you can take to a Security station and begin the long, arduous process of scanning the ship room-by-room to account for more of those creatures. And third—” She leaned in close, proffering her fingers almost in his face. “—under Disciplinary Article 42-J, you may be tethered by the wrist to another crew member of equal or greater rank to ensure compliance. If such a time comes that the Captain or I find you sufficiently repentant, you may be returned to your station.” It was an older statute, hardly used in the new EA’s fleet. But she had a soft spot in her heart for its unorthodox variety of litmus test, to separate long-term insubordination from short-term impulsiveness. “What is it going to be?” She asked at last, cocking an eyebrow.

Harley Quinn peeked out of the turbolift at the busy bridge. Everything was running along with the precision of a German engineered pogo-stick being ridden by a narcoleptic with the hiccups. Nothing for her to do here; so she set off to find the holodeck.
