Why were you disappointed with who created this?
Honestly, it's pretty cool that he could basically self-fund books and a cartoon based on stuff from his childhood.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).I was mostly jesting, but I'm biased against sports
Joking aside, yeah, its cool when you self fund stuff to create stuff from childhood that younger generation can enjoy. I dunno what he watched in his childhood, but it definitely reminded me of stuff I saw
I actually bought the book for this on my Kindle but haven't read it yet.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Saw some images of it, and it looks like a cool action show, but I would have to watch a full episode to be sure.
"We be we baby!"Same. I won't be able to use Netflix until the end of the month, so I'll check it then.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).I just notice this show on my Netflix browser and the first thing I literally thought was Battletoads.
Seriously, the designs of the frogs seemed ripped off from the character designs of the games. Now all of the sudden I want to play the arcade game that introduce me to that series of video games.

That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Those frogs are not buff enough to look like Battletoads.
More like rejects from the last frogger game.
"We be we baby!"Based on googling, art style is based on one in books(covers and illustrated pages, its for kids after all), though not everyone has same designs apparently. I don't think they look that much like Battletoads, but honestly if they were buffer they would look pretty similar
We all are just joking you know.
"We be we baby!"And I was enjoying conversation by replying to Big K .-. I wasn't replying to your guys' joke posts. Wouldn't be out of character to me to do that though, I like discussion so I don't mind replying to jokes seriously.
Of course they're not going to be buff like the toads, they are after all frogs. Who have ever hear of a "Buff Frog" anyway? . . . And whoever decides to be a smart ass and direct me to a character that is that, I'm punching you in the eye for ruining the joke.
From the preview pictures of some of the frogs they wear articles of clothing reminiscent of the Battletoads (arm bands kind of did that for me), not to mention being a fighting team like the toads. Though there are clear difference in the two given the setting they are in and the fact these are frogs (the Poland to the toad's Austria).

My angry rant blog! It's not that bad, I say it's about the same quality as Teen Titans was when it first started. It could have been more fluid, but it's still not nothing to ignore.
"We be we baby!"Plus that's a trailer designed to impress. The budget for something animated like that constantly is way more than an untested cartoon would be able to get.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.The makers could have taken a page from the animu book of tricks.
Just because you have limited budged and forced to do limited animation, does not mean you cannot do it right. If you have to (re)use a lot of still poses, at least draw them well! Choose better poses, better camera angles.
My angry rant blog!Huh, while that trailer is more fancy, it still feels rough in the same way show does I mean, I'd think that is good enough to be at low end of good while show's animation is just bad, but it still feels rough for some reason.
I'm curious about that it seems to use book designs .-. Which is cool though, but yeah, I wonder why

Finally got some time to watch this. Overall, I enjoyed it and it's nice to see another action animation original on Netflix to join Voltron (and to a degree, Puss in Boots).
While the show starts with a very basic premise (generic main character, fat best friend, girl character trio), it does take some unexpected turns here and there. Some things don't turn out the way you'd think, and it even gets surprisingly dark at times. The villains are actually fairly interesting and each have their own motivations for starting trouble. The voice cast is very strong, and you'll appreciate it if you're a fan of The Spectacular Spider-Man.
That being said, the flash animation itself deflates a lot of the drama and doesn't do the neat art style justice. Also, while the story gets more interesting as it goes on, the pacing itself is pretty wonky. The transition between episodes nine and ten is VERY off. The Rainbow Serpent and Exile arcs could've merited an entire season to themselves, or at the very least, they could've dedicated less time to Darel rescuing Gee for three episodes to dedicate more episodes to the latter half's arcs.
Overall, it's a pretty fun series. The only things holding it back are some animation and pacing issues.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).Yeah, noticed that too. Series adapts three children's books so I guess by third they skipped a lot of stuff and it shows
Yeah, it's a kid's show XD Kids don't care about the animation style.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.i'm 16 years old, i care about animation and this...is just weird.
MIAAgain, the animation wasn't THAT bad, but criticism of it has merit, particularly in a board specifically made to discuss Western ANIMATION.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).Season two confirmed, coming much later this year.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).
So was bored, there was new netflix original cartoon, I was like "It probably won't be good but I'm bored" and hoooly crap I was wrong :D
I mean, animation is still cheap as hell, but it really reminds me of how in my youth I saw a lot of cheap European cartoons with bodycount. Like, I could swear I haven't seen that "First half of the show follows plot arc that ends up with one character dying, but generally happy and feels like good ending. Then the second half continues from that, starts killing characters a lot in rapid succession before the end" pacing in kids shows in long time :D Man, like I said, really brings me back to my childhood. Maybe its because its based on a book or something?(pretty sure most cartoons I was thinking of were based on books) I think I remember opening credits mentioning that.
Anyway, yeah, animation is pretty cheap, but plot is pretty good, or at least I have respect for anything that reminds me of my childhood(though little disappointed by who wrote the books now that I googled it) Also this has highest body count of bloodless death I have seen in a cartoon in a while. Has anyone else watched it so you could discuss whether you agree with that or have other stance?
