Yeah it’s pretty interesting how mobster Joker who wants to make a profit and sees Batman as just a nuisance in his way rather than the goal is a departure from a typical portrayal of the Joker when that was his classic persona.
Hell, comics Joker actually manages to defeat his version of Charlie and reduce him to a broken wreck.
Joker's The Only One Allowed To Kill You vibes come off to me as just a narcissist not wanting someone else to take the credit, at least in the DCAU.
As for Joker defeats, the one where Static turns the old joy buzzer gag back on Joker is high up there.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Yeah, despite helping to popularize the evil business man version of Lex he was usually a Big Bad Wannabe. Brainiac played him like a cheap fiddle twice.
He only became cool as his classic mad scientist criminal mastermind self in League.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Luthor also cares a lot less about who Batman is than Joker does (since he captured the former to lure in the league and thinks he's less of a threat).
He still hasn't taken Joker's words from World's Finest to heart.
One Strip! One Strip!What did he say? ^_^;;
Come on! Let's bless them all until we get fershnickered!![]()
It really was.
Though to be fair, if Joker had known Static was there (he was just out of view in the mirror Joker was looking at) he'd have definitely used the acid flower I think.
Like, I think even if he didn't take Static seriously as a threat, he'd never be dumb enough to try and shock a kid who whole thing is literally I put a shock to your system.
But hey, hindisight. It's was one of Virgil's bigger victories.
One Strip! One Strip! It shocked a lot of people.
Hell, I think this is before I became aware of the fact that Static was actually a comic book that was made by a DC subsidiary (Milestone), so him suddenly teaming up with Batman had me going da fuq!
Like, it's one of the reasons he's so well known now. Or at least the reason he was well known back then. It even got him and the rest of the Milestone Universe into the Main DC, with Virgil actually joining the Titans.
One Strip! One Strip! To be fair, at the beginning of Static Shock, they weren't certain it'd be a part of the DCAU, and DC heroes were referred to as fictional within it.
Does anyone have any original characters from Static Shock (or Batman Beyond or The Zeta Project) they wish were more folded into the mainstream DCAU or DC Comics? For me, it's Gear, Ebon, Rubberband Man, Talon, and the Night-Breed. She-Bang could work as your standard super-soldier. I think Inque, Shriek, and Spellbinder have all appeared other Batman Beyond comics, right? But I like them, Blight, Mad Stan, Curare, the whole concept of the Splicers...
Virgil and Terry had some really good supporting casts.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyAnd Miles Morales also had electrical powers.
Electric Black Guy is a trope for a reason.
Disgusted, but not surprised

Even when he was just a hitman for the Valestra mob, we saw signs of the casual cruelty that becomes his trademark. Just look at the way he nonchalantly steals and eats one of the apples Andrea bought right after murdering her father in cold blood.
