Tomboy Princess examples?

I looked at the examples in the animated film section; Merida makes sense, sure, with that being a focus of the film she's from; Nala, I could see, given her play-wrestling with Simba...

..but Ariel and Anna? Maybe they stray from traditional feminine roles in a few ways, but their roles don't exactly resemble those of a stereotypical boy either. Is it about difference from feminine roles or similarity to masculine ones? And if either, how much of either?

And if the former is the standard, how does Elsa, with her willingness to fight her pursuers instead of surrendering, not also count?

Elsa is a Queen, so that would be the answer to your last question.

I do not have an answer for your other question. Although I'm thinking a certain amount of people might be confusing Tomboy Princesses and Badass Princesses.

Badass princess is a disaster and needs to be cut as is.

Tomboy Princess needs to make it clear that it's about tomboy personalities and how they are incompatible with Princess Classic and not just ditching princess duties, which is part of Rebellious Princess.

[up][up] Ah, that makes more sense of it. Still, though, the traits that make her fight back instead of surrendering were with her even when she was still a princess.

[up] TRS thread created for Badass Princess, though it hasn't been opened yet.

. . . but "princess" doesn't mean "Princess Classic". It means, you know... the daughter of a ruler. No matter how much of a stereotype of certain traits has developed, "princess" doesn't mean that. If a girl has royal blood, that doesn't make the presence/lack of gendered traits a contradiction any more than if she were normal. And that's all "princess" means.

I made this Idolized Julius Kingsley icon back when Akito first came out, and now that the crossover is actually happening, I don't care.
