Opened.
From what I gather, the lone difference I can find is that in Beauty Is Bad, a beautiful person is evil, while in Hot Guys Are Bastards, a beautiful person is a Jerkass, making the former The Same But More.
If that's the case, I propose that we merge Beauty Is Bad into Hot Guys Are Bastards.
I think it's the inverse. Hot Guys Are Bastards (which I should note is supposed to be unisex, so the title isn't ideal) is The Same But Less to Beauty Is Bad, which is clearly written as a counterpart to Beauty Equals Goodness.
Comparing the two, Beauty Is Bad (like Beauty Equals Goodness) is describing a work-wide trend whereas Hot Guys Are Bastards is written as a Character+Trait trope, opening the door for PSOC and zero context examples.
I would support a merge, but keep Beauty Is Bad as the base trope.

You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"
If it's supposed to be unisex, then it's definitely a case of The Same But More and they may as well be merged.
As far as I see it, Hot Guys Are Bastards is "one guy/girl in a story is hot & bad", while Beauty Is Bad is " all or most hot girls/guys in a story are bad". IMHO, there's a difference between portraying one hot character as bad compared to portraying all hot characters as bad.
This sounds like Hot Guys Are Bastards is just the Face of an Angel, Mind of a Demon retooled for physical attractiveness instead of innocence.
Hot Guys Are Bastards appears to be about contrasting the external beauty with the inner ugliness the way Face of an Angel, Mind of a Demon contrasts external innocence with inner malice.
That might make Hot Guys Are Bastards a contrast to True Beauty Is on the Inside because it's a Beauty Is Only Skin Deep trope.
That said, I don't see any significant difference between Hot Guys Are Bastards and Beauty Is Bad, as the key to the both is the contrast between external beauty and inner ugliness. The Beauty Is Bad trope does say it's about any undesirable personality (such as Jerkass), and doesn't have to equate simply to the character being evil. As a result, it's covering the same range of options as Hot Guys Are Bastards. Both tropes doing the same thing.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. So, single prop crowner to merge Hot Guys Are Bastards with Beauty Is Bad?
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"Is there enough of a trope here to try to make into it's own thing? Maybe a subtrope to Beauty Is Bad?
Oissu!I don't think so. The closest thing to distinct from Beauty Is Bad is that it's a single character trait, rather than a work at large. Where a character has the traits of being attractive and hot. Which isn't a trope.
Closest thing to making that a trope is a character is awful because they're attractive and think they can get away with it. In which case it's Screw the Rules, I'm Beautiful!.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them. From the trope name I figured it was going to be about the tendency of a Bastard Boyfriend to be attractive compared to the uglier Nice Guy, but I guess that's also The Same But More Specific.

Oissu!
If it goes with the rival in love angle then its not really the same since its a dynamic of ugly vs beauty as well. Ugly has a tendency to potentially be a form of used and abused Dogged Nice Guy as well.

Made a crowner to resolve this.
We can move any examples that aren't on Beauty Is Bad there.
Also most of Literature is moved. Just the A Song of Ice and Fire is the only example in the page now.
Someone can help in merge with the same example in Beauty Is Bad?
I renamed many tropes from this list
, but some page are locked or have an unclear description.

Crown Description:
Vote up for yes, down for no.

What difference there is with Beauty Is Bad? They are nearly the same trope.
