Well, the kids' theory is that clever brains may be tastier to the aliens. But that's indeed only their speculation at the moment, and perhaps the truth is a little different.
It's not like humans haven't gone with equally weird farming techniques, though. I mean, just look at the list of qualifications to be met for Kobe beef.
For a while I suspected Ray, but we heard his thoughts, so no.
This is progressing pretty fast… I guess this whole escape arc will only be a Prolonged Prologue.

Gilda's too obvious, probably.
Anyway, I get their dynamic, but I''m getting a little tired of Norman and Ray having to explain everything to Emma while she just looks on confused. I get she's taking the audiences' place, and her strength is learning ability, but it's annoying when it keeps happening so frequently in close succession.

Agreed… Even for The Watson (… >.>), she seems way too far behind.
Yeah, for Emma's supposed intelligence, she's being outshadowed too often by Ray and Norman, which is a pity. (Not to say that she's not some nice insights, but they're not frequent enough.)
(And in this chapter we see that Norman's constant unruffled demeanor is a front, too...he's under a lot of stress himself.)
Emma's there so Ray and Norman have someone to explain stuff to. Also be the emotional one in the Power Trio.
Chapter 10. Ray takes a little backseat in favor of Norman and Emma, this time. Well, mostly Norman. They decide to tell the… "truth" to Don and Gilda, and give each one of them different information to see which one is the mole. Don plays dumb, but of course, he's apparently the one. But on the other hand, Gilda is used by Sister Krone it seems…
Maybe my favorite chapter so far. It had a nice balance of serious, emotional and clever.
Hmm. It's interesting to me that the Spy's message is the rope's location and nothing more. It seems like both Don and Gilda would have much more important things to report than that! Letting Isabella know that the circle of kids in the know has been expanded would surely be top priority for any spy.
So I'd suggest that the spy is actually someone who just happened to see Norman hiding rope under his bed, and not Don.
Chapter 12… wut. Are you telling me my initial assumption was right? >.> But… we heard Ray's thoughts at one point… so…
…Well, there might be yet another twist, but that would make a lot in quick succession.
Also, Sister Krone isn't very good at looking trustworthy.

Because they both put up acts to reinforce that image. They don't just love Isabella because she's "Mama" they love her because she puts on this perfect act of love and devotion. Krone is pretty good about this too except for her cartoonish grimaces.
