Suzu: There is one key detail that is being overlooked here, Mizore is my sister.... which complicates things here a bit more.... you are right that it would reflect bad on my father to act against Akihiro, but it isn't my father against Akihiro, it is myself acting on the behalf of my own sister.
The kind of action that falls well within the realms of mage activity......
-She pins her ears and sighs-
Discretion needs to be applied to this, it needs to be approached as a Kunoichi, not an Onna Bugeisha, but it if it was not possible I would have called you there.
-She then turns to Six-
.... You guys weren't really planing on murdering him in an incredibly open way like shooting him were you. ._.;
Even neglecting the fact that we are getting involved with the subtleties of mages, poking a fight with one in his own home is stacked against us.
-Ling gives a hug-
Ling: Yes, you can. Nay, you must make these people believe in these concepts. How else could they become?
Momonga: ...If I can be frank, I did expect them to do that. We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)
Momonga: I do have some idea on how we can attempt to shift some elements into our advantage, but it involves many moving pieces.
...And a frankly hopeless miracle, among other things.
I feel bad even considering this subject, since it surely goes against almost every tenet of bushido around. :/
We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)Ling: I would like those days to return as well. Perhaps once we are in far lighter conditions and healthier, we might yet see everyone's spirits lifted.
Momonga: I do expect this to be brought up with everyone, but as we are moments away from shoreline, I will bring forth my idea to you before we are forced to fight.
As miss Suzu has stated, the only way we can properly fight a mage on his terms is with another mage. So simple assassination is an improbable and foolish gesture.
So the only way to strip him of his power otherwise is if we prove it through more legitimate means. Namely, prove that Akihiro has willingly desecrated an invaluable machine for his own gain. In public. In a manner that miss Mizore cannot simply deny otherwise.
This will include following through with his mission to obtain the machine part...but instead of simply leaving scott free, we must "allow" one of our own to become captured by someone from the clan that controls this area who is working with us. Then, once we have returned with the artifact, we wait until everyone is ready, possibly creating a copy of this artifact if desired. As we present it to Akihiro for a job well done, our ally from this region's clan will come forth and accuse him of willing thievery and deciet, with the proof being the testimonial of a mercenary who was hired to discretely steal this artifact on his orders but had a change of heart and wished to do the right thing. At which point he will demand justice for his clan, Mizore will demand justice for her father's criminal behavior and beg him to prove his honor by testifying, and possibly Suzu will demand justice for being blackmailed into allowing it to occur to save her family.
At which point, he will either face legal justice, or likely attempt to save his skin by demanding a duel or outright attempting to kill us all. At which point, we will have the backing of the lords on our side as we defend ourselves. After which, the artifact may be returned to the rightful owners or some facsimile of it. Miss Mizore will be able to retain control of her clan for her good deeds and by merit of her lineage. And we will have gotten off the hook and be commended for being brave enough to do the right thing, after careful consideration.
...The problems being in stealing the artifact, being able to convince someone to help us, finding someone to agree to be "caught", and in living through all this.

We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)Momonga: Hmmmm...what if we also found her a husband? One who we know would treat her as she ought to be treated, and would not attack her rightful authority when it comes to matters of state? Someone much like her proposed puppet, but less...impotent?

We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)-Suzu grips her hand tight-
Suzu: She is my sister, and as you can see I am unable to cast, the machine is apparently necessary for her to use magic herself, a requirement for mage inhariatence even with a husband.
If we just time things until after Akihiro has done his work though.....
....
Ships can always get caught in waves.
Momonga: Very well then. You have far more knowledge of how magic works in your world, so I defer to your authority on this matter, Suzu-sama. If this is a non-negotiable point, then we should also find a way to create a facsimile of this machine so that we have something to bring to this clan as part of our "reparations". Or as you have suggested, since it allows for plausibility.
Then it should all work out.
...Ugh, I feel so...dirty now. >.<

We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)Six: Sometimes, doing the right thing means you have to break the rules.
One question. Who's going to give themselves up?

"Seven is here too, dressed like the concept of choosing clothes that look nice together was an arcane secret far beyond their grasp."Momonga: While I would suggest you, Six, since we have your bomb collar as proof, I believe that should be something we leave among all of us to decide.
...Also, the fact I had to think like a Scorpion for this makes me feel incredibly vile. >.<

We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)-Suzu nods-
Suzu: I know a good hot-spring to relax in when we return to sho.....
-She is cut off-
-As a loud whistle resounds through the ship-
-As the whole boat gives way to the side, a large wave crashing against her-
Boatswain: General quarters! General Quarters! Man your battle-stations, we have approached firing range.
-And now the thing that was likely having Tanaka swear-
Ashigaru! Finish your last rights and make way to the assault boats immediately!
The kamikaze has not stopped the Nabemoto from taking position. The opposite, in fact; they now pose a grave threat to this ship!
-Before another wave hits the side of the ship, any one with portholes nearby would actually be able to see that that one took the ship under up to the conning tower, but the vents seem to be doing there job for now as she quickly bounces back-
Some one kill that damn mage!

-A woman
bursts into the meeting room-
???: It's called geeking the mage, ya stupid—
........
Whoa, shit. This isn't Renton.

Ling:-Gives a reassuring pat on Lisa's arm-
We all have things that are blinding us to what's important. I do think that if you wish to best change this world, then you should lead by example. Show the samurai that the precursors built them for a higher purpose than mere fighting. Show the mages that they have lived too long with their heads in the cloud to see the worth of the people who built them up. And show the people that the tenets of bushido and equality apply to more than just the people who live on the outside. That they too deserve some measure of happiness.
-Momonga gives a slightly truncated spiel similar to what she had told Bruce and Six, not mentioning the aspects that Suzu would already guess based on her upbringing-
-She does also add an apology for her inability to see this earlier, mind-
