—Those of you who may be listening can hear the beat of hooves against the earth. A group of mounted soldiers—and what appears to be at least a few proper knights—emerge from the forest into the clearing. Most of the mounted soldiers have helmets and plate armor
covering their faces. One of the mounted knights, riding what appears to be a more groomed horse than the others, breaks from the group. They seem to have their eyes trained upon the party—
Lead knight: Am I to presume you band of brigands are the ones those so-called 'colonists' referred to as the ones who would prove their supposed innocence? Or should I simply let my archers deal with you instead?

'If you fall seven times, stand up eight.' The cry of the Undead.-Mercuria remains where she is, sitting on one of the crates while idly fiddling with her cane. She doesn't even look up when the knights draw near-
Mercuria: You know, threats are only as good as the terror they inflict upon the ones you're attempting to intimidate. But your threats are nothing compared to the things I've had to endure up until now. So let's skip the posturing.
-And with that, the Arcane Mechanik very slowly gets down from the crate and faces the Captain, leaning on her cane-
Mercuria: Yes. We're their advocates. I presume you are also a representative of the local governing body's judicial system? Some sort of armed policing force?

We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)—The lead knight seems to narrow their gaze at Ges's laughter. They pull something from their saddlebag. It's small, black, and has an antennae and a button on it. It's a two way radio.—
@Ges: Perhaps you'd like to have your laughter be the last thing your "colonists" hear before I give my troops the order to arrest them under charges of conspiring with Menagerie? I doubt they'd find as much humor in us as you do.
'If you fall seven times, stand up eight.' The cry of the Undead.—You can't see their face, but there's an air of unbearable smugness as the lead knight pockets their radio away and turns their attention to the others.—
@Ironscales: You're a long way from your home, dragon. We will treat you with some respect, but I suggest you understand you are not among your subjects here.
@Six: And might I ask the same of you, sir knight? You certainly have the armor of a nobleman, I'll grant you that, but in this situation, is it not better to err on the side of caution than bravado? The people have been subjected to raids and some outlandish merchants say the entire town was deserted, and now people from the sky come down in a craft with not only tools that could be used to communicate, but even coordinate with Menagerie's forces not even a day after a month has passed of the town's silence?
—They pat the bag holding the radio—
Why shouldn't I be suspicious?

'If you fall seven times, stand up eight.' The cry of the Undead.Six: Co-ordinate with Menagerie? I wasn't aware they were doing that. All I'm aware of is that you guys placed them under arrest because they were suspected of the village's disappearance.
"Seven is here too, dressed like the concept of choosing clothes that look nice together was an arcane secret far beyond their grasp."Ironscales: And I suggest you understand how hostage situations work...
-At this, the deathclaw stands up, sharpening his claws on the forearms of his armor-
Having our people isn't going to make us comply to every single one of your demands. It's your insurance. The instant you lay a hand on a single one of them, it's gone. And you'll have lost the one single thing protecting you from our fury.
You send one execution order through that radio, And we'll destroy your little fucking kingdom so badly, you'll wish you were dealing with the Menagerie boys. So play nice, alright?

—The knight seems to have a moment of being surprised by Six's response. Perhaps he wasn't expecting that response? Whatever it was, the moment seems to have passed, and his regular persona returns. Although for an instant, you almost feel like there's a hint of sadistic glee at Ironscales's threat. What is with this person?—
Lead knight: Very well, if you wish to understand the position your colonists are in, then I suppose you can send someone to speak with them. Meanwhile the rest of you can investigate the town to try and find something that proves their so-called innocence.
—He makes a gesture with his hand and a woman wearing armor comes forward
◊—
Lead knight: Mirya, you shall escort the one they choose to speak with the colonists. If more wish to join, we shall allow one more. The rest will come with us. Is this acceptable to you?
'If you fall seven times, stand up eight.' The cry of the Undead.-Six looks over to everyone else-
Six: -to Mercuria- I recommend sending somebody who can take care of themselves. Somebody who can get out of sticky situations on their own.
Just in case. I mean, we all have radios, doesn't really matter who we send because of that. We can all keep in touch.
-Oliver shrugs-
