Oliver: -to Tarbak- Well, apparently I found a flash drive.
I put it in, and it showed me more... memories, I've gotta call them. No other word.
Apparently the ship I was serving on was attacked, and I ran and hid. I was a reservist - I served with the expectation that if I was attacked, I would grab a rifle and defend.
And I didn't.
Six: When people say the first one's the hardest they mostly mean the thinking you do after. The psychological toll of ending somebody else as smart as you are. With a gun, it's simple - point at your target, pull the trigger. Two actions.
Humans are squishy sacks of meat. Bullets and us don't get along very well. There's a lot of variables, but at the end of the day, all it takes is one bullet in the right place, and it's lights out forever.
So if somebody's angry at you, and they pull a gun, they don't have to get close and throw themselves into a swing. They can focus all of their anger into a single trigger pull and lash out with ease as extreme as the aftereffects.
When that's what you're facing down, there's not many viable solutions.

"Seven is here too, dressed like the concept of choosing clothes that look nice together was an arcane secret far beyond their grasp."Oliver: Yeah.
And then I got so damn angry when I learned the boarders were going to kill off everyone in the sickbays.
So I massacred them all.
I... I feel incredibly numb. I don't know how to deal with this.
"Seven is here too, dressed like the concept of choosing clothes that look nice together was an arcane secret far beyond their grasp."@Six: I see. I suppose in that sense, you are right. It's the thinking afterwards that's the hardest. I still can't comprehend the act of taking another being's life. It's like something I can't mentally process, even if I'm capable of the act. I guess you and I are like Kopaka and Tahu of my world. Tahu is emotional, passionate, and loyal to his ideals. Kopaka, as far as I can tell, is cold, calculating, and logical, with a hint of snark for good measure. He doesn't seem to have many lines he won't cross, but I've never quite seen him have to go all out. The funny thing is, I'm Tahu and you're Kopaka in this case. I never thought I'd be the one more emotional in this case.
