Momonga: @Manakuta <He is a magistrate who helps oversee multiple villages and the internal affairs of my clan. I live in a castle and follow the assignments he charges me with.>
@Suzu <For us, we cannot afford to withhold warriors at home if they are not raising children. Even without following the example of the kami, there has been too much strife in the last century or so to deny someone based on such criteria. Not to mention several clans are led by women for religious and traditional reasons, so to abolish that would dishonor them immensely.>
@Lisa <I did not know we were so famous in your realm.>
We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)Suzu: <I am glad that works out for you, and I am glad that it is more.... equal here, it is one of the reasons I have not wanted to head home>
<But when combat involves trenches lined with beam canons that will mow you down the instant you stick your head up, fire raining down from the mages, dragon riders circling above to strike you down if you manage to make it through.... and the chance of coming face to face with an actual samurai>
<The prospects of returning are low enough that the short term boost to troop numbers, is not worth the long term slash to population stability>

Momonga: @Suzu <I understand your explanation of how draining warfare is on your people, considering how severe it sounds. I am rather confused on the particulars of it, I will admit. I have never heard of this "beam cannon" before. Nor the idea that any kind of dragon would be ridden by a mortal.>
@Takanuva <No one is perfect, but questioning their wisdom is not something I have the temerity or cunning for. So it's not something I obsess over.>
We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)Momonga: <I've...only ever seen a "crossbow" once, and it was in the hands of a gaijin traveler. Although it is rather hard to imagine, I suppose such a weapon is at least within the realm of possibility, at least.>
@Manakuta <Beyond what you are supposed to be, I do not wish to pry too deeply into your affairs. You are clearly a warrior of skill and secrets you must guard, considering you wear that mask.>
@Lisa <...That is a far wiser statement than I had expected. But very well-observed nonetheless.>
—Takanuva snickers a little at Momonga's assumption that he keeps secrets, considering he was the Chronicler before a Toa, and Jaller used to joke that he couldn't keep a secret to save his life—
@Momonga: <Actually I wear this mask not to hide who I am, but to show who I am. The Kanohi Avohkii, the Mask of Light I wear, is a marker that distinguishes me as the one and only Toa of Light in my universe. As for what I am, I suppose you don't mean I my status as a Toa, and I cannot quite answer as clearly as I'd wish. All I can tell you is I am part machine, and part organic. I am...bio-mechanical, in a word. And again, ask whatever you wish of me. I know that you are at least a little curious about the words I keep throwing around like Rahi, right?

Momonga: <I feel sympathy for the situation your homeland is embroiled in, Ryuzuki-san. It sounds like a far worse situation than back in Rokugan. Or at least what took place years before I finished my gempuku.>
@Lisa <Of course.>
@Manakuta <If you are capable of it, then yes. Do explain.>

Suzu: <It is a matter of practicality, it takes 9 months for a lady to have children, and years to raise them, men.... don't exactly have to wait before fathering more, as such, when it comes time to raise an army, many of whom are not going to return from there venture.... the lords need to take long term population stability into account>
